introduction

+HALLE is a company in the throes of change. We are a company developing with the times and we quickly adapt to the new requirements of the world around us. It is through change that we have discovered our core business, and it is through change that we have found out exactly who we are today, and where we are heading. We are a family-owned company in full growth. New ideas have surfaced and are becoming a reality. New inspiration and new blood in the company have helped shape us into how we want to be and continue to pave the path we are taking. +HALLE creates furniture that fits into a changing world. A world where stress and bustle constantly increases the need for human breathing spaces. We have already achieved this with our furniture. Now, we are excited about developing new, exciting and innovative products in order to substantiate this. We don’t just design furniture for the sake of design. Functionality and aesthetics must always fulfill our basic idea of creating furniture that is simple, usable and international in design terms. Furniture that meets requirements and user situations, that acknowledges modern times - by creating a human space in a busy day without too much disturbing detail.

Our name change from Globe Zero 4 to +HALLE is a natural step on this path. We have put ourselves last in the equation, as the name leaves room for a number of exciting partnerships that will support and help achieve our idea of creating a calm oasis amidst busy surroundings. By adding the + to HALLE, we create a visual link to our business partners, who include designers, distributors, and manufacturers. We are very grateful for our partners, as without them we are nothing. Thanks to them, we are a thriving company that continues to grow. +HALLE creates furniture that never compromises on quality in the craftsmanship or materials. We know that what we make works. We know this because we have already helped create breathing spaces all over the world, in places such as MoMa, Facebook, Microsoft and Heathrow Airport. And we know that this is just the beginning of an exciting future that we are really looking forward to. +HALLE

Quality Danish craftsmanship Danish furniture design is based on a strong tradition of classic furniture craftsmanship. Well-known Danish designers such as Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner and Poul Kjærholm are e.g. all carpenters by trade. The excellent craftsmanship is inextricably linked to Danish design. In +HALLE’s furniture, the upholstery plays a particularly important role in the furniture’s look. The simple design and clean lines require every single stitch to be sewn with the utmost care. That’s why +HALLE has joined forces with one of the most experienced upholsterers in Denmark.

made in denmark All our furniture has a small woven +HALLE label on it. In principle, it could just as easily say ‘Made in Denmark’. Because all +HALLE’s furniture is designed and manufactured in Denmark – from the very first sketch to the last finish. If you buy furniture from +HALLE, you don’t just get Danish design. You also get quality Danish craftsmanship with more than 40 years of experience behind it. Danish ideas All +HALLE’s furniture began life as a great idea from one of our Danish designers. The ideas and designers are different, but they all stem from the same Nordic design tradition that dates back to the 1930s. Nordic furniture designers were some of the first to look beyond furniture’s functionality. A chair is not just something you sit on, and a table is not just something you eat or work at. Furniture also provides a base in our busy everyday lives where people need space to contemplate – not just at home, but also in public areas. All +HALLE’s designers therefore work purposefully on creating specific spaces for expression in everyday life. Shape, functionality, aesthetics and surroundings must combine before we set our stamp on a piece of furniture.

Danish quality When it’s time for the different design ideas to be turned into furniture, they are sent to Hans Skipper Møbler, a local furniture manufacturer with more than 40 years experience in furniture upholstery. Hans Skipper Møbler is a leader within traditional craftsmanship, which takes many years of experience to master. It requires a special feel for the material, quality and furniture’s end use to be able to cut, sew and adapt the materials so that the details become a natural part of the design. And the application of the ready-made fabric to the shell is particularly challenging, when the products have to be as uniform as we demand them to be. Each design is therefore developed in close discussion about what is possible - right down to the last stitch and tiniest detail. Each item of furniture is assembled, upholstered and quality-checked by Hans Skipper Møbler. This means you can expect the same high quality regardless of which furniture you order. Danish responsibility The production of individual furniture parts is sent to different sub-contractors, who all manufacture according to the highest Danish environment standards. Furniture from +HALLE is therefore an environmentally friendly choice. The wood comes from sustainable forests, the metal parts are manufactured by 99% recyclable steel, and the foam and fabric are manufactured according to applicable Scandinavian standards. Denmark also has some of the most stringent rules for the working environment, and you can therefore rest assured that +HALLE’s furniture is manufactured under proper conditions with regards to both health and safety.

everything is getting faster and faster And the world is changing. It can feel as though time is running away from us. And that the world is happening around us. We have become more urbanised, more informed and more connected. We have become more mobile and we travel more. Our private lives and working lives have merged. And our physical surroundings are constantly shifting. But despite technology, mobility, the increased bustle and urbanisation, we all still have a number of persistent human needs. The need for peace, intimacy, secure surroundings and genuine contact. We need reference points. And the need to step outside for a while. A need to be present. And to take the haste out of time. We need to create physical and mental space. Nothing in the world is more simple and cheaper than making cities that provide better for people. This was the statement from Danish architect Jan Gehl in 1971. We still have the same ambitions over 40 years later for the furniture we develop. And this subject is probably more current now than ever before... The furniture from +Halle is crafted from a simple, but strong idea of giving people time and space.

We call it: Creating Human Spaces +HALLE develops, designs and produces furniture for places where people have time and space for themselves and for others. Where we become absorbed, meet or work. In education, in the airport, at a museum, at work or out in the open. We believe that people who feel good – either on their own or together – are more positive, more creative and more focused. If our furniture can help towards this, then we have achieved what we strive for. Our furniture must invite people to use it. But also to be pondered at, to make people smile and to find warmth, peace and togetherness from the furniture’s shape, function and texture. We don’t just design for the sake of design. Function and aesthetics must always live up to our fundamental idea that a piece of furniture should create a human space that is flexible, warm and personal. For just like the most exciting people, all our designs have their own personality, expressions and style.
