WYSTAWA POLSKIEGO I NORWESKIEGO PLECIONKARSTWA Wystawa jest częścią projektu „Niech żyje kosz! Plecionkarstwo jako żywa tradycja w kontekście Konwencji UNESCO w sprawie ochrony niematerialnego dziedzictwa kultury”. W jego ramach dokumentujemy tradycyjne rzemiosło, m.in. prowadząc badania etnograficzne na terenie Polski i Norwegii. Interesuje nas kontekst kulturowy plecionkarstwa, a w jego ramach również pytanie – co powoduje, że coraz więcej ludzi interesuje się tą tematyką i odkrywa potrzebę twórczego używania własnych rąk? Odpowiedzi oczywiście są inne w Norwegii, inne w Polsce, zależne od miejsca i konkretnego człowieka. Jednak tym, co odkrywamy, jest przekonanie, że praca manualna, a wraz z nią rzemiosło, mocno łączą nas z całym dziedzictwem ludzkości. Podczas podróży terenowych spotykamy te same techniki i materiały, które funkcjonują od tysięcy lat. Dlatego też blisko nam do idei plecionkarstwa jako uniwersalnego języka, wspólnego dla ludzi na całym świecie. Zastanawiamy się także nad problematyką ochrony rzemiosła. Jedną z możliwości jest Konwencja UNESCO w sprawie ochrony niematerialnego dziedzictwa kultury, która akcentuje umiejętności, a nie konkretne wytwory. Stąd też długoterminowy cel naszych działań – wpis plecionkarstwa na Listę UNESCO. Ekspozycji towarzyszy pokaz filmów z wypraw terenowych projektu oraz bezpłatne warsztaty plecionkarskie – zapisy u poszczególnych organizatorów.
EXHIBITION OF POLISH AND NORWEGIAN BASKETRY The exhibition is a part of the project “Viva Basket! Basket weaving as a living tradition in the context of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage”. Within the scope of the project we record traditional craft by conducting ethnographic research in Poland and Norway. We are interested in the cultural aspect of basketry, and we would also like to ask the question – what is the reason why more and more people are fascinated by this craft and want to create objects with their own hands? Obviously, the answers are different in Norway or in Poland, and they depend on a place or a particular person. But what we discover is a belief that manual work, and along with it craft, connects us strongly with the heritage of mankind. During our field research we have encountered the same techniques and materials that have been used for thousands of years. That is why the idea of basketry as a universal language, shared by people throughout the world, is so important to us. We are also thinking about the safeguarding of this craft. One of the possibilities is UNESCO Convention on Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage that focuses on skills and not on particular objects. This is our long-term goal – to inscribe basketry on the UNESCO List. The exhibition is accompanied by a presentation of films recorded during our field research, and by free basketry workshops – registration by particular organisers.

Ma na swoim koncie tytuł „Ludowego Oskara” za najlepszy projekt badawczy realizowany w 2011 roku -„Plecionkarskim szlakiem Polski”. Podejmuje liczne przedsięwzięcia dla ochrony tradycyjnych zawodów, starając się prezentować w atrakcyjny sposób sztukę ludową szerokiemu gronu odbiorców, wspierając jej rozwój poprzez innowacyjne spojrzenie. Kultura regionu Sunnhordland jest zanurzona w okolicznych fiordach, górach oraz przemyśle. Wystawy muzeum koncentrują się zarówno wokół rolnictwa, rybołówstwa, rzemiosła, kultury tradycyjnej, jak też współczesności. W ramach kolekcji muzealnej znajdują się m.in. zgromadzone z całego regionu budynki z okresu od średniowiecza do XX wieku. Stowarzyszenie Serfenta A leading institution in the field of basketry studies. Its portfolio includes such title as “Folk Oscar” for „On the basketry trail of Poland” project. Its numerous actions concern protection of traditional crafts and the association tries to present folk art in attractive way to the wide audience, along with supporting folk art with an innovative perspective. At the museum you may experience the Sunnhordland culture - both traditional and modern - surrounded by fjords, mountains and modern industry. The museums exhibitions show the regional culture history such as farming, fishing, crafts, regional costumes and the development of the modern maritime industrial history. Sunnhordland museums collections contains several outdoor museums consisting of houses from the middle ages to the 20th century, spread around the region, a mining community and a monastery from the middle ages.
