Project 01:

Boutique Retail Waldorf Astoria Sanaya - G.a Group The Waldorf Astoria approached the G.a group to create a luxury and eclectic retail space at the heart of the hotel. My directors entrusted me the task of creating luxury, culturally inspired branding and delightful display space from the external facade to the finest detail. The Hotel’s Chairman is aesthetically allergic to color. The boutique is created to reflect the Far East’s appreciation of retail therapy on a shell-inspired color scheme.

Although small in plan, the retail space enjoys 5.2 m of retail & storage space. This is accessible y a specialist ladder on a decorative track.

Hospitality Mandarin Oriental Dubai - G.a group The Mandarin Oriental Dubai is an ode to the Country’s gently lapping waves, rippling sand dunes and sunsets captured through sky scrapers and desert scapes. The middle and far east celebrate privacy and exclusivity. This idea is reflected through furniture pieces that appear plain but constantly unravel to surprise guests.

Cluster Analysis

Productivity/Activity Against Time of Day

High Collaboration Stories From Everyday Circulation Even within a low interaction cluster, co-working still occurs on the peripheries, and boosts productivity, stamina and engagement. It then becomes the interior designer’s responsibility to cater to those human behavioral patterns.

High Concentration,

What does a flexible intra-company work environment entail? Following multiple primary data research and case studies, Leeza Soho was spatially designed to accommodate for the natural peaks and troughs in concentration and collaboration, creating play and social spaces to overcome anxiety and mental blocks, and catering to in-team safe spaces for relaxed concentration, known to boost - productivity.

Hospitality Suite 105- Conceptual Siryali Studios

All Design + Visualization by author

Room 105 is a concept for a honeymoon suite inspired by the hospitality of South Asia to the Far East. Between a spa and a bungalow, the hotel room feels like a a holiday home, transporting guests to alternative realities. The bathtub of Suite 105 enjoys a stunning brass backdrop, a perching birds pendent, and partially translucency onto the bedroom beyond. The tub is inset in pebbles warmed by under-floor heating. The dual rain shower sits in between the bedroom and the bathroom., blurring the lines at the edges of the spaces.

Textured walls, Hardwood floors and louvered shutters continuously engage the guests’ senses. The walk-in closet and bathtub inset in stone are one continous space, giving the feel of a spa. Rattan finished closet doors allow the clothing to breath, and showcase hotel stayer’s recently purchased holiay apparel.

Project 07 :

Hospitality Suite 105- Conceptual Siryali Studios The dressing table in this hotel room is inspired by eastern treasure chests overflowing with ornaments from around the seas. Inspired by the liked of Amanyara resort, the hotel suite enjoys horizontal window shutters letting in interesting light patters.

The four poster bed at Suite 105 has a translucent wicker backdrop, which separates the bathroom from the bedroom. Along with a solid hardwood floor, the sense of touch is consciously excited and mesmerized by the finish selection of the hotel suite.

The dual rain shower with a sliding glass door sits just beyond the dressing table wall, neither in the bedroom, nor in the bathroom, but at an intermediate space.

Project 08 :

Food & Beverage Cafe Siryali - Cairo Siryali Studios A private client came forward with the request of a coffee shop that was about so much more than a cup of coffee. They wanted a place where people bond, get inspired and take their own selves out to indulge in a cake and a book. Aiming to meet and exceed the clients’ brief, an

eclectic shabby chic cafĂŠ is created, catering to varied aesthetics as well as personal unwinding and socializing styles.

Computation + Craft Safina projects + MFA The Marshlands - Iraq Meshoufs are iconic Mesopotamian canoes, with different dimensional variations. They are derived from ancient Mesopotamian vessels, and the craft of canoe building is extremely endangered, with some of the boat forms having become extinct due to generational gaps and lack of technical documentation. I became involved with Safina Projects to digitally reconstruct and record the structure of the Meshouf.

Grasshopper Definitions for the parametric Meshhouf.

Visuals + Technical Drawings Rhino + Grasshopper

Reconstructing the Meshhouf led to understanding the building logic of Mesopotamian boat builders. This therefore enabled successful reconstructions of other Mesopotamian boats, including the cane boat and the bundle boat. Drawings and animations are now used for archives & documentation by Safina Projects.

Project 05

Computation + Craft Safina projects + MFA The Marshlands - Iraq Since Mesopotamian construction includes weaving, computational design can build upon existing Iraqi architecture to imagine new shapes. It can also be used to adapt prehistoric techniques into modern ways of building and fabrication. These modeling experiments + algorithm adaptations feed into Safina Projects Research .

The Gallery of Craftsmanship in Al Qanater, Egypt is an exhibition and a celebration of local crafts. The Faรงade to the Gallery of craftsmanship is inspired by the sails of boats and the forms of Gothic arches, fluid, sharp to a point, and always reaching for the sky.

The gallery’s structure visually mimics the rhythm and scale of Gothic arcades. Its simplicity blends in well with the contemporary architecture across the river bank. The Grand Gallery enjoys an inverted truss ceiling. This is reminiscent of boat lofts, an art of the locals, and can be used to mount lights and suspended displays.
