OTHER CREATIVE PRPJECTS
This project initially stemmed from a deeply personal journey, wherein I embarked on an exploration of the unsettling sensation of feeling out of place as both an artist and a dancer in Sheffield, the city where I pursued my master’s degree. Within the confines of this urban landscape, I encountered a pervasive sense of displacement, perceiving that there was no niche carved out for me as an outsider. Despite my identity as an architecture student in Sheffield, I also held a passion for hip hop choreography, which I diligently continued to pursue during my time in the city. However, the absence of dedicated dance studios for rehearsing and training became increasingly apparent, leaving me with a profound feeling of being adrift amidst an artistic void.
Driven by my fervent desire to find a sanctuary that would cater to my artistic needs, I began a comprehensive analysis of the existing dance studios scattered throughout Sheffield. Dishearteningly, my search yielded no results that aligned with my vision or fulfilled my aspirations. This frustrating and fruitless quest propelled me towards the realization that I needed to take matters into my own hands and conceive a space that I could call a “home”.
This open space can function as a rehearsal space or be transformed into seating areas. Temporary seating is available from nearby storage next to the dance studio. It also provides dancers with an opportunity to network and get to know each other better, as dance classes usually focus on learning choreography with limited time for casual conversation.

“ THE HIDDEN CITY “
The concept behind this project is inspired by Odhams Walk, a picturesque location nestled in Covent Garden. The primary focus of my strategy was to replace towering skyscrapers with lowrise buildings, aiming to maintain a high density within the community. Previously, this area had unfortunately been plagued by drug abuse, but the introduction of Odhams Walk resulted in a noticeable decrease in the crime rate.
During my research, I stumbled upon a book called “Defensible Space” authored by Oscar Newman, which presents various strategies for creating a safer urban environment. I diligently applied the insights and techniques detailed in the book to my design, aiming to foster a secure and harmonious community. Moreover, my overarching objective is to preserve the area’s unique identity while simultaneously crafting a more secure and livable neighborhood.

URBAN DESIGN PROPOSALS “
Peckham, a neighborhood centered around Rye Lane, boasts an incredibly vibrant atmosphere with bustling streets teeming with a rich variety of African food shops, traditional butchers, and bargain hardware stores. In addition, Peckham proudly presents a delightful array of unique boutiques and global shops, adding to its charm and appeal.
During the 1980s, Peckham experienced a significant period of redevelopment, as many residents made the decision to relocate from their houses to newly constructed high-rise flats. Unfortunately, this transition coincided with a rise in crime levels, which posed challenges for the community. However, in the 1990s, an impressive £290 million regeneration program was initiated, aiming to enhance the area’s housing standards and rejuvenate its overall appeal. This program proved instrumental in improving the quality of life for residents and bringing about positive changes to the neighborhood.

“ OTHER PROJECTS“
Live Projects
Masters architecture students work in Live Project groups with a range of clients including local community groups, charities, health organisations and regional authorities. Live Projects include design/build, masterplanning, building feasibility studies, sustainability strategies, online resources and participation toolkits. In every case, the project is real, happening in real time with real people.
Discovering Stalybridge
Working with the Tameside council the ‘Discovering Stalybridge’ team has taken a sustainable approach to regeneration. With Manchester as a neighbour, Stalybridge requires advocating as a destination.
The project uses culturally appropriate art interventions to encourage a shift in social perceptions and stimulate footfall in the town centre.
During my research, I stumbled upon a book called “Defensible Space” authored by Oscar Newman, which presents various strategies for creating a safer urban environment.
The Dell Project
The Dell Project was a six week collaboration between the Live Project Team, The Dell Steering Group and wider Grimethorpe residents, to jointly develop a vision for the future of the Dell, an attractive but underutilised green space in the village.

V“ PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS“
During my time at Murphy Philipps, I had the privilege of gaining valuable hands-on experience in a wide range of architectural tasks and responsibilities.
I had the opportunity to engage in feasibility studies, which involved assessing the viability and potential of proposed projects. This allowed me to analyze factors such as site conditions, regulatory requirements, budget constraints, and client objectives. Through meticulous research and analysis, I acquired a deep understanding of the intricate considerations involved in determining the feasibility of architectural projects.
Another aspect of my work at Murphy Philipps involved the preparation of design and access statements. These documents play a crucial role in conveying the design intent and justification for a proposed project, while also addressing any accessibility considerations. I worked closely with the design team to compile comprehensive and persuasive statements that effectively communicated the design concept and its compliance with relevant regulations.
Hinchingbrooke Theatres
The scheme consists of a two storey facility, the theatres being on the first floor, the scheme has been designed to meet BREEAM excellent and contribute to the Net Carbon Zero Agenda. The facility is based on the standardisation and Modern Methods of Construction agenda.
Revit And Technical Packages
One area in which I have significantly developed my skills is Revit modeling. I have become proficient in utilizing this powerful software to create detailed and accurate digital representations of architectural designs. Through countless hours of practice and guidance from senior architects, I have honed my ability to manipulate and optimize digital models, ensuring precision and efficiency in the design process. Moreover, I have independently worked on projects, building Revit models from 3D to design packages, and successfully applied them to InDesign.
These drawings are the only few examples that I have done for a prpject.
QUEEN MARY’S HOSPITAL, SIDCUP
The Phase 1 works to this community hospital in Sidcup involve the replanning and refurbishment of the ground and first floors, as well as a number of extensions to the building’s envelope. The ground floor will accommodate a new Urgent Care Centre, Phlebotomy unit and Dispensary.
Hinchingbrooke Development
Murphy Philipps worked with WSP to investigate and understand the site and future clinical requirements. A whole site clinical strategy has been developed together with a development control plan supporting a phased redevelopment thought necessary due to the RAAC panel construction of the current Best Buy Hospital. The scheme is based around a campus development utilising a MMC strategy.
