HOW I SEE IT... I would just like to take a moment to share with you my plan for The Cayuga Collegian. We are, of course, going to continue covering hard-hitting stories, but I would also like to bring fun, energized pieces and segments into the paper. In the paper there are little blurbs about positions

President of the United States has been one of the most criticized inaugurations in history. Definitely the most criticized that I’ve ever seen. Now, Trump has already done numerous things within his first few days of office; some major, others minor. One of his first actual acts as POTUS, was to reinstate the Mexico City Policy that prevents federal government from providing funds to foreign, non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortion services. This policy was created and enacted by Ronald Reagan during his term, kept by George W.H. Bush, rescinded by

President Bill Clinton, reinstated by George W. Bush, then again rescinded by President Barack Obama. Now it has been reinstated by President Trump just a few days ago. Trump and his administration have taken down and replaced a few pages on the White House’s website. The pages that have been replaced are concerning Civil Rights history, which has been replaced with “Standing up with Our Law Enforcement Community” which was the complete opposite from what was on the form Civil Rights page. Another website page concerned climate change which has been replaced with “An America First Energy Plan” that completely ignores the existence of climate change. But other than that, some pages are now non-existent and the URL can longer be found for pages which included information on LGBT+ rights, Healthcare, Joining Forces, and Immigration. Many people are happy to see these pages taken down. Many people weren’t in favor of the way Obamacare was executed. Whether you’re liberal or conservative, or anything in between, you have to admit, it was executed poorly. President Trump has reversed himself on some of his campaign promises already. He said he was going to repeal the Affordable Healthcare act, but he in fact said that he was not going to instead he was going to revise and make it better(although the page was taken down from the White House’s website). Many do not know that it would be extremely tough

for him to do some of the things he claims he’s going to do. So in my words, chill. Give the man a chance. We have absolutely no choice now. We don’t know if some things are true or what’s going to happen. So all we can do is hope for the best and see where this man and next four years takes us. — Gabby Rizzo Cayuga Collegian staff writer

that we are looking for, such as a cartoonist and a social media manager. You can find those openings throughout the paper, I just wanted to reiterate as a part of my intentions, which would be hto have a weekly cartoon and such. Things, right now, that are set in stone are having a weekly poll and crossword puzzles. I ultimately want to make the newspaper more interactive and engaging with its reader. Another idea given was to have smaller segments put up on the The Cayuga Collegian Facebook page and our YouTube page. For this, we will always welcome more students to help out with these small projects. It would be preferred to have Telcom students apply because of needed skills like editing and operating cameras, but as for being in the segments themselves, all are welcome. For more information about this, you can talk to myself, Juliette Zygarowicz, or Malcolm Huey. Another thing that I would like to do is to reach out to each club and report on what they’re up to, which could be about their fundraising efforts, to help publicize their events, or just what they’re about as a club. Finally, I want to know what the students want to see. I want to hear your opinion, what things interest you, and what doesn’t. This week I will have my office hours posted on the door, so if you have any ideas you’d like to share with me, feel free to stop by and tell me. If I’m not there, you can leave your idea or contact information in the suggestion box or you can email me at either the Collegian’s email or my personal email. The way I see it, I may be calling the shots, but it’s really all for naught if you, the audience, doesn’t care. I am here to entertain and inform you. Help me to do my job to the best of my ability. —Gabby Rizzo Cayuga Collegian editor-in-chief

Hi! My names Brooke Dunn and I am a second semester freshman here at Cayuga Community College. One of my favorite things to do is talk politics and get involved. Reading and writing have always been sort of a hobby of mine at which I like to think I do well. My major currently is Media Production and I am enjoying it so far! I’m looking forward to joining and writing some pieces for The Cayuga Collegian here at CCC!

I am 52-years-old and my name is Marie Kelley. This is my first semester at Cayuga Community College at the Fulton campus. Right now I am majoring in Liberal Arts and hope to go on to Oswego State University after I graduate from CCC. I believe if you have a goal or dream at any age, go and make it happen.

Three people, however, we didn’t bother asking because they had Patriots jerseys and hats on, which was a dead giveaway. —Gabby Rizzo
