COURSE DESCRIPTION The Mathematics Reasoning course focused on developing student awareness of mathematics as a unique and powerful way of viewing the world to investigate order, relation, pattern, uncertainty, and generality. The course provides students with the opportunity to develop ways of thinking in which problems are explored through observation, reflection and reasoning. The subject enables students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in working mathematically and in communicating concisely and precisely. This subject is recommended for students who enjoy Mathematics and are achieving a B or above in the subject.

AIMS This subject aims to equip students to solve unfamiliar and challenging maths problems. Topics that may be studied in this course are: Algebra Geometry

Trigonometry Consumer arithmetic Probability

ASSESSMENT Assessment in Mathematics Reasoning mirrors the assessment techniques of Year 11 and 12 Mathematics and includes combination of examinations and problem-solving

assignments.
