Marymount Los Angeles will be recognized as the premiere all-girls school in Southern California that prepares its students to become ethical leaders in every sector of our world.
Marymount High School is an independent, Catholic, all-girls school that educates and empowers young women to value diverse points of view and to live lives of consequence as ethical leaders with a global perspective. We expect our graduates to shape the everchanging world with an unshakable commitment to the common good.

Goal 1: Preservation of the RSHM Mission, Community and Heritage. Objectives: • • • • •
Continue mission alignment and diversity in student enrollment, employee hiring, Board membership, and external relationships. Emphasize Marymount’s internationality and welcoming of all faiths (interfaith dialogue). Promote the development of ethical student leaders and foster a culture of giving through “teaching philanthropy.” Provide opportunities for faculty and staff to interact and participate in the RSHM Extended Family program to ensure the traditions of the RSHM. Conduct an annual exit survey of parents of graduates.
Goal 2: Continue participation and involvement in the International Network of Schools. Objectives: • • •
Increase the number of faculty and staff who can participate in a conference with other Network schools and/or the immersion experience to Beziers. Increase the number of faculty and staff who actively serve on the Implementation Committee and ensure this committee has meaningful purpose. Establish regular communication and interaction with network schools through joint school programs and/or exchange programs.
Goal 3: Build a broad school community that is united by mission. Objectives: • • • •
Effectively communicate the philosophical principles and values that embrace the goals and criteria of the RSHM. Offer community education seminars, retreats and events for all constituents. Expand and communicate the Marymount brand that reflects the mission, philosophical principles and vision of the school. Increase the school’s visual identity through word-of-mouth, website, social media, print, and other marketing avenues.
EXCELLENT STUDENTS AND PROGRAM Goal 1: Recruit and enroll students who will thrive and succeed in an academically challenging environment. Objectives: • • • • •
Increase the number of qualified applicants with diverse talents and backgrounds. Effectively communicate value added components of a Marymount education. Devise and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan that increases awareness, credibility and differentiation of a Marymount education. Design a plan to Increase the number of applicants to the school and the enrollment of highly qualified applicants. Institutionalize a targeted student retention program that identifies and supports students with social or academic issues.
Goal 2: Maintain a rigorous and integrated academic program that is rich with opportunities for success for each student. Objectives: • • •
Devise clear plans to support students in developing their individual intellectuality, confidence, accountability and character. Maintain a collaborative educational environment that best enables girls to learn and become leaders. Hire an experienced STEM Coordinator who will develop a robust and integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum.
Goal 3: Continue to support and enhance the co-curricular programs that further our mission and differentiate the Marymount education from other peer independent schools. Objectives: • • • • •
Formalize a Service Learning program at all grade levels in partnership with the ministries of the RSHM. Implement and expand an integrated Arts program. Expand and refine the summer programs for growth in leadership, science and technology. Increase awareness and education for interfaith connections. Expand the Student Internship program to include mentoring opportunities in all major career areas at various local universities, hospitals, museums, etc.
Goal 4: Develop an integrated global and core curriculum that will embrace opportunities that challenge traditional ideas of classrooms, class time, and geography. Objectives: • • •
Increase access to the number of specialty or AP courses accessible to students through the Online School for Girls program. Design and adopt policies to address and accommodate students who want to participate in semester or year-long alternative education programs. Expand authentic project-based learning into the curriculum to respond to current educational trends.
FINANCIAL STRENGTH AND SUSTAINABILITY Goal 1: Recruit and train trustees who will support and advance the mission. Objectives: • • • •
Attract potential board members who can create and implement successful fundraising strategies for annual and capital endeavors. Continue to identify areas of expertise needed for members of the Board of Trustees to successfully execute strategic initiatives. Provide on-going training in best practices for CAIS/NAIS independent schools, such as Board Orientation, accounting and budgets, donor identification, etc. Continue to identify and appoint board members who reflect the diversity of the Marymount High School community.
Goal 2: Reduce reliance on tuition as a primary source of funding programs and operations by increasing the school’s endowment by $10-25 million. Objectives: • • • •
Increase the number of Leadership and Major Gifts through effective utilization of donor identification resources and personal solicitation. Better communicate the Planned Giving Program and increase the number of planned gifts, particularly from Alumnae and Les Anges (parents of alumnae). Increase the number of Endowed Scholarships offered to students for need and for merit. Establish an ad-hoc Endowment Steering Committee to set goals and establish a plan or campaign to increase endowment funds.

Continue to grow a consistently successful Annual Giving Program for all constituencies by setting attainable goals each year. Analyze all options and implement a plan to address and retire the school’s indebtedness (Udine Property). Increase revenue from facilities rentals and summer programs. Evaluate and allocate funds based on prioritized identified needs.
Goal 3: Optimize student enrollment to maximize net revenues. Objectives: • • • •
Research feasibility of offering an international program for students from European, South American and/or Asian countries administered by a thirdparty or through a partnership with the International Network of RSHM schools. Maintain financial aid awards at 25% of the student body. Research strategies to grant financial aid packages that include expenses beyond tuition (books, uniforms, student activities, etc.) that will attract students with special talents, diversity and mission alignment. Conduct a feasibility study to determine whether or not to reestablish a Marymount Middle School.
