HOW SHE WEARS IT
AUTUMN/WINTER 2017/18
“The only time a woman has a true orgasm is when she’s shopping.” - Joan Rivers
NOTE FROM THE EDITOR Clothing plays a pivotal role in sexual intercourse. We can dress in the hopes of stimulating the other sex, strategically choosing pieces that highlight body parts and allude to the air of availability. Yet, this planning is only in hopes that the clothing will eventually be removed. The fall and winter seasons often contain heavier fabrics and the act of layering pieces. Thus, through the psychological color palettes of the sexual response cycle, as predicted in the Color Report Autumn/Winter 2017/18, we can unknowingly still resonate sexuality. Yet, what makes fashion so sensual? Is it, perhaps, that it ignites a newfound spirit within us? In this How She Wears It Report, we can be aroused by the way in which fashion travels from runway to retail. Enjoy, Mary Tres Editor-in-Chief

The stage of excitement is translated through whimsically romantic pieces that feel light, similarly to the lightheadedness we feel when initially titalated. Designers are showcasing trims of fur and fringe, which can translate femininity in a delicate way. These colors are showcased on the street in a more quirky and innocent translation.

The stage of plateau is defined by fabrics that highlight our senses, like crushed velvet and leather. The way that these fabrics catch the light and glide across the runway capture our attention while exciting our hormones. Women on the street have taken to similar fabrics while evoking the “cool girl ease.

The orgasm stage of the sexual response cycle is designated by runway pieces that pop, just like a cherry. The are showstoppers of the collection, in which audience members gravitate towards the electricity that they provoke. Street looks utilize these colors in detail, such as collar of a jacket or a handbag.

The resolution stage is when we return to our senses before intercourse and designers are showcasing pieces of this palette that are quite easy and comfortable. The pieces are loose and drapey. Looks taken from the street are similar in mood with a no nonsense feel.
