about the artist

growing up with a crayon in one hand and a coloring book in the other, she knew from a very early age that she wanted nothing more than to be an artist. years later, graduating from college, armed with a degree in graphic design and an entire world in front of her, lori dunbar never imagined sheâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d actually own a company of her own. today, as owner of that company she never imagined, nothing makes her happier than sitting and designing at the computer. (well, except maybe for the smiles of her little boys)

a little bit about how it all started

marzipan inc. was started with a dream. a girl who joked that she would someday rule the world with a business of her own, soon found her dream unfolding in front of her. it all started when lori made her wedding invitations in the fall of 2001. finding that she loved the process, her dream business started to emerge. that year she made small sets of hand embellished greeting cards to give to friends and family for christmas. the praise she received was unanimous and prompted her to take her dream more seriously. she approached several stores with her new cards in hand. to her delight, nearly every store she visited placed orders for her handcrafted originals. soon her little business was bustling. within the first year, she designed a line of over 150 original cards and soon began working with reps all across the country. now, eight years later, a new division has been added to the company. fin+roe (named after her two boys: finley & rowan) was born from the desire to branch out into something more custom.
