‫السالم عليكم و رحمة اهلل و بركاته‬ Introduction The Blessed early hours Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family, companions and his followers. Surah Adh Dhariyat, 51 (The winnowing winds) verses 15-21: ‫م َن ٱ َّليۡ ِل َ

Verily, those who have Taqwa will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs,) (16. Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this doers of good.) (17. They used to sleep but little by night.) (18. And in the hours before dawn, they were asking for forgiveness.) (19. And in their wealth there was the right of the Sa'il and the Mahrum.) (20. And on the earth are signs for those who have faith with certainty.) (21. And also in yourselves. Will you not then see?) Alhamdulil Allah, you had a reasonably restful sleep, does not matter how many hours, it only matters that you slept aspiring for the pleasure of your Creator. This sleep became a blessed sleep. You woke up well before sunrise, maybe just before dawn. You had the time to pray and raise your hands in front of Al Khaleq, your Creator, Al Wahab , The Bestower of gifts.
‫غ ِفرُون‬ ْ َ‫َست‬ ْ ‫ه ْم ي‬ ُ ‫َسحَ ا ِر‬ ْ ‫ِاأل‬ ْ ‫وب‬ َ“And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness…” (Surah Adh Dhariyat, 51:18) The submission to your Rabb (Lord) in the early hours in the morning by seeking His SWT forgiveness results in acceptance by Him SWT, brings about a new dawn in your life and this is the dawn that you do not want to miss out on, beidhnil Allah (with the permission of Allah SWT). Allah SWT has not only praised those believers that wake up before the dawn and seek His SWT forgiveness as highlighted in the verses quoted in the beginning, Surah Adh Dhariyat, 51 (The winnowing winds) verses 15-21, but Allah SWT has also shown us the importance of the morning hours by taking an oath of these hours in Surah Al Fajr, 89 (The Dawn), verse 1:ِ‫ وَا ْلفَجْ ر‬-By the Dawn This is further emphasized by the saying of the Prophet SAWS: “Allah made the early hours blessed for my Ummah.”(Ahmed) Now, what is so special about these hours? Morning hours are blessed because they have been blessed by Allah SWT, Badi as Samawat wal Ard, The Deviser of the heavens and the earth. If you have noticed, one of the signs of depression is when people cannot wake up early, actually they do not want to wake up early. They want to run away from their problems by covering themselves with the blanket of sleep, Subhanal Allah.

A Monthly Newsletter by Masjid Bani Hashim, Jumeirah Islands, Dubai Issue #36 Oct 2016 They feel they cannot cope with the light of day and hence once the night is over, they try to cover themselves with the darkness of the blanket and sleep. This sleep which was blessed, profitable at night, becomes a big loss during the day and hence here comes the call of your Rabb in Surah Ad Duhaa, 89:
By the forenoon.) (2. By the night when it darkens.) (3. Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hates you.) (4. And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present.) (5. And verily, your Lord will give you so that you shall be well-pleased.) (6. Did He not find you an orphan and gave you a refuge) (7. And He found you unaware and guided you) (8. And He found you poor and made you rich) (9. Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression.) (10. And repulse not the one who asks.) (11. And proclaim the grace of your Lord.) This surah was revealed to strengthen the will of the Prophet SAWS. Once he did not receive the revelation for 6 months and the Prophet SAWS felt that Allah SWT had forsaken him. That was not the case, as Allah SWT assured him in the above chapter, that He SWT had not forgotten the Prophet SAWS and the hereafter would be better than the present. As we know the Qur’an is a revelation by Allah SWT to all of us through the Prophet SAWS. Who is revealing The Book for you? Allah Subhan wa t’Ala, Al Khaleq, your Creator. What does Allah want you to do? Allah SWT wants you to submit to Him, to listen to Him; If He is saying that the good doers wake up before the dawn and seek His forgiveness, then this is what you should do. He is taking an oath by the Fajr (dawn) in Surah Al Fajr, 89 (The Dawn), verse 1:ِ‫ وَا ْلفَجْ ر‬-By the Dawn. Subhanal Allah, is not that good enough as an evidence of importance of these hours. He SWT further inspired his Prophet SAWS: “Allah made the early hours blessed for my Ummah.” (Ahmed). Furthermore in Surah Ad Duhaa, Allah takes us to that beautiful time, the forenoon, just after the sunrise and Rabbana (our Lord) contrasts it with the night when it darkens, Subhanal Allah. That’s it! Wake up, come out of the darkness of the night…it is Fajr That’s it, Wake up, come out of the darkness of the worries and concerns…it is Ad duhaa That’s it, wake up, yesterday has gone, tomorrow you have not seen, but today Allah SWT is waking you up and giving you the opportunity to open a new page in your life, and may this page be blessed by Allah, Tabarak Allah (The Blessed One, The Only One who can bestow blessings). Subhanal Allah, Alhamdulil Allah, Allahu Akbar. Glory be to Allah, Praise be to Allah for completing this stop. We cannot thank enough Allah for all His bounties. Alhamdulil Allah Rabb al alameen. Fadl minal Allah (All favors are from Allah).

wounded. Anas (RA) said that in the Battle of Uhud, his mother and 'A'ishah (RA) would fill leather bottles with water and give it to the thirsty wounded soldiers. Umm Sulaym (RA) was pregnant at the time but that did not stop her in actively taking part. She (RA) is also well known for her bravery in Battle of Hunayn. Ibn Sa’d narrated with a authentic chain of transmission that Umm Sulaym (RA) took a dagger in the Battle of Hunayn. When Abu Talhah saw her he went to the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) and told him, “Allah’s Messenger here is Umm Sulaym holding a dagger!” To which she (RA) responded, “I am taking it to rip the belly of one of the polytheists with it!”

In the last issue we read about the mother of the famous companion of the Prophet (SAWS), Anas Ibn Malik- Umm Sulaym or Ghumiysa (RA). She (RA) is a perfect example of how a person is transformed when Islam truly enters one’s heart. She (RA) never backed away from making any sacrifice; rather she (RA) would bear any difficult circumstance with patience and forbearance. She (RA) recognized and understood the true value of life and that the real life is in the Hereafter and that the rewards are with Allah SWT alone. For Umm Sulaym (RA), the love of Allah SWT and His Messenger SAWS was more precious to her than any other thing in life. Umm Sulaym (RA) was well known for her courage and bravery. She (RA) used to participate in various battles along with the Prophet SAWS and the Muslims. She (RA) would actively participate in the fighting as well as would help in looking after the men, giving water and tending the

When the Prophet (SAWS) got married to Zaynab bint Jahash, Umm Sulaym (RA) gifted him a special dish made of dates and ghee. When the Prophet (SAWS) married Safiyyah after the battle of Khaybar, it was Umm Sulaym (RA) who dressed her up as a bride. Anas reported that the Prophet (SAWS) used to visit them often. When someone asked him for the reason, he (SAWS) said he felt pity for Umm Sulaym (RA) ever since he saw her brother Haram bin Milhan killed before his eyes. His last words have become immortal in Islamic history. He had said, "I swear by the Sustainer of the Ka'bah I have become successful." His brother Sulaim bin Milhan also was martyred in the same battle. Umm Sulaym (RA) had a son named Abu Umair with whom the Prophet (SAWS) used to talk to whenever he would visit Umm Sulaym (RA). Once when he (SAWS) saw him upset because

his pet bird had died, the Prophet (SAWS) consoled him and tried to make him feel better. There is a remarkable story on how Umm Sulaym (RA) dealt with the death of her son Abu Umair. Umm Sulaym (RA) displayed exemplary patience and self-control, which could only come out of her deep faith in Allah (SWT). Abu Umair had fallen sick and had developed high temperature because of which he passed away. When Abu Talhah (RA) came back from a journey, Umm Sulaym (RA) requested members of the household that they must not inform him of the death of his son until she (RA) herself had done so. When Abu Talhah (RA) came and asked about Abu Umayr, she (RA) said, “He has never been as relaxed and quiet as he is now.” Abu Talhah thought that his son was getting better and became pleased. After he (RA) had had his dinner and had enjoyed himself in her (RA) company in peace and tranquility, she (RA) asked him softly "If a person entrusted one with something, and then came to claim it, should one return it?" He (RA) answered "Certainly, one should return it gladly." Then she took him to the room where the son was lying in a peaceful eternal sleep and said in a trembling voice "Allah has taken back the son He had entrusted to our care." Sub'hanAllah what a strong woman and how firm was her (RA) emaan! May Allah (SWT) grant us the ability to accept the decree that Allah (SWT) has written with us with contented heart. The next morning they went to the Prophet (SAWS) and he prayed for blessings of Allah (SWT) upon them. Umm Sulaym (RA) soon became pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. Anas (RA) carried him in his lap to the Prophet (SAWS); he softened a piece of a date and gave it to the newborn, and named him 'Abdullah. Abdullah ibn Abu Talhah was blessed with many children, all of them memorizers of the Qur’an.

Anas (RA) narrates an amazing story of when his mother had sent some clarified butter or ghee to the Prophet (SAWS) as a gift. The little girl with whom Umm Sulaym (RA) had sent the pot brought it back and hung it by the nail on the kitchen wall. When Umm Sulaym (RA) saw the pot, she found it full and overflowing. She (RA) thought that the girl hadn’t given the gift. Later she (RA) found out that the girl did take the ghee to the Prophet (SAWS) and had brought back the empty pot. When Umm Sulaym (RA) told the Prophet (SAWS) about this miracle, he (SAWS) told her (RA) that she should not be amazed; she had sent a gift for Allah's Prophet (SAWS), so He in turn had sent a gift for her. She should eat it and feed others also with it. Umm Sulaym (RA) said that she emptied this bowl of ghee into a larger vessel. It lasted them for two months and others also ate from it. Umm Sulaym (RA) and Abu Talha (RA) loved the Prophet (SAWS) dearly and it is evident from the following incidents mentioned in Sahih Muslim in the Book of Fadail. One afternoon the Prophet (SAWS) had gone to visit Umm Sulaym (RA), but she had gone out. He (SAWS) decided to wait for her (RA) in the house and dozed off while waiting. When she (RA) came home she found him sleeping and as it was hot, the Prophet (SAWS) was sweating and his perspiration was dripping on a small piece of leather. She (RA) was very happy to see him (SAWS) in her house and started collecting the beads of perspiration in a small bottle to preserve them. The Prophet (SAWS) woke up to find her (RA) doing this. He (SAWS) asked her what she (RA) was doing. She (RA) replied that she was collecting the drops of his perspiration to put them into some 5

Umm Sulaym (RA) was an extraordinary woman. She (RA) was known for her integrity , loyalty and courage. She (RA) was a narrator of Hadeeth and a number of ahadith have been related from her . The Prophet (SAWS) had said that when he had entered into Paradise, he had heard footsteps of someone ahead of him. When he asked whose footsteps those were, he was told that they belonged to Umm Sulaym (RA). Such was the reward for her (RA) strength of faith and courage.

Narrated Abu Mas`ud: The Prophet (‫)ﷺ‬ said, "The sun and the moon do not perfume. If the Prophet (SAWS) passed on a road or street, it is said that he left a trail of perfume in the air and people would know that he had passed that way. When Anas (RA) had a feeling that he would be dying soon, he made a will that some of these drops should be added to the water with which his body would be bathed.

eclipse because of the death of someone from the people but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. When you see them stand up and pray." (Bukhari Vol. 2, Book 18, Hadith 151)

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet On the occasion of the final pilgrimage, when the Prophet (SAWS) shaved his head, Abu Talhah collected his hair and took it back to AlMadinah. There he gave it to Umm Sulaym (RA) to preserve it. She (RA) put it away safely as a keepsake. Anas (RA) mentioned another incident when the Prophet (SAWS) had visited their house and had taken a drink of water from the leather bowl. His (RA) mother cut out the section that his lips had touched and preserved it as well.

(peace be upon him) said, "A woman is married for four things, i.e. her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be losers. (Bukhari Vol. 7, Book 62, Hadith 27)

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: I live in the thought of My servant and I am with him as he remembers Me. (The Holy Prophet) further said: By Allah, Allah is more pleased wth the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert. When he draws near Me by the span of his hand. I draw near him by the length of a cubit and when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit. I draw near him by the length of a fathom and when he draws near Me walking I draw close to him hurriedly. (Muslim Book 37, Hadith 6610)

He (‫ )ﷺ‬replied, "If you are as you say, it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will be with a supporter against them from Allah as long as you continue to do so".) – Riyadh As Saliheen, Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 318 When he says (‫ وأحلم عنهم ويجهلون علي‬،‫ وأحسن إليهم ويسيئون إلي‬،‫( )إن لي قرابة أصلهم ويقطعونني‬I have relatives with whom I try to keep the ties of relationship but they sever relations with me; and whom I treat kindly but they treat me badly, I am gentle with them but they are rough to me): this means he’s bearing harm from them while they deny they’re harming him or transgressing against him. So it was said to him: (ّ‫( )لئن كنت كما قلت فكأنما تُسِ فُّهم امل َل‬If you are as you say, it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes). This is something a person can’t bear, so he’s getting hurt greatly. As if you’re feeding them hot ashes. It is sinful to harm others. It could also mean when you’re being good to them while they’re bad then it embarrasses them totally. When you face someone who’s done bad to you and treat them with goodness then it makes their forehead sweat, but this is not true with everyone. There are people who don’t get affected when others are being good to them and they don’t feel ashamed for the wrong they’re done. Rather they think this goodness that’s been shown to them is their right. And they think the person is not even giving them their full rights. So no matter what goodness is shown to this kind of person, he think it’s part of his rights. As for him, he doesn’t want to be asked about his shortcomings and harm, subhan Allah. There are people like this. The one who want to reconnect to his relatives but they cut him off then he shouldn’t worry because you’re doing everything for Allah (SWT), and when you connect to your relatives it’s for Allah (SWT), and you give charity and do goodness to others for Allah (SWT). Don’t wait for any reward or thank you from the people. If you were truly doing it for Allah (SWT), then it 14

wouldn’t matter if your goodness is returned with bad treatment. You should continue with doing goodness and not cut the relation because the one who cuts off the relation is not doing it for Allah (SWT). People are of five levels: o Those who show goodness to those who’ve treated them badly. o Those who show goodness to those who’ve shown goodness to them. o Those who turn away from those who treated them badly o Those who turn away from those who’ve treated them with goodness o Those who treat badly those who’ve treated them badly as well. The highest level is the one who shows goodness to those who’ve treated him badly. This is the peak of generosity, giving, goodness, patience, and forbearance. It shows the nurturing of this person is high indeed. He doesn’t get affected by people’s bad treatment; he doesn’t shake. This nurturing has deep roots and it’s far from social hypocrisy and flattery. Because a person would not be able to handle this treatment if his manners towards others are only based on flattery, subhan Allah (SWT). The worst level is the opposite, the one who treats badly those who are good to him. And unfortunately this is found amongst people, but few. The one who’s noble, if you’re good to him then you’ve owned him, even if you show a little kindness. And the one who’s miserly, if you show so much goodness to him, it only increases him in hatred. The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said: (‫( )وال يزال معك من اهلل ظهير عليهم‬and you will be with a supporter against them from Allah). This means the one who shows goodness to those who treat him badly then Allah will help him, support him, strengthen him, and make his determination strong. So whoever wants support from Allah then he should be good to those who treat him badly. There are people who show goodness to others, and they smile and show good manners, but if someone mistreats them, then they show similar mistreatment, if not more. We ask Allah (SWT) to grant us patience and make our deeds sincerely for Him (SWT). And to help us with remembering Him (SWT), thanking Him (SWT) and worshipping Him (SWT) in excellence.

[Yusuf] said, “Appoint me over the storehouses of the land. Indeed, I will be a knowing guardian.” 12:55

The scene now takes place at the palace of the king, who is curious to see Yusuf ‫عليه السالم‬. The king seems to be a disbeliever, but Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬puts the love of Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬in his heart.
‫ِص ُه لِنَفْسِ ي‬ ْ ‫خل‬ ْ َ ‫َوقَالَ املْ َل ُِك ائْت ُونِي ِب ِه أ َْست‬ The king wanted Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬for his advisor, to keep him exclusively by his side constantly. This was an honour. The delega>on sent to fetch Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬would now bring him back with respect. It was the prac>ce of kings to choose people with wisdom and certain qualifica>ons as their advisors, to serve them exclusively.
ه‬ Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬was presented to the king, with all his beauty. The king interviewed him. The manner of speech and the demeanor have a bearing on the impression formed about a person. The answers of Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬ amazed the king, so much so, that he immediately announced a posi>on for him.

Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬recognized the opportunity presented to him by Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬, and he seized it.
ِ ‫األَر‬ ْ ِ‫خزَائِن‬ َ ٰ‫قَالَ اجْ َع ْلنِي َع َلى‬ This is the first statement Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬made, since being brought to the palace. He spoke directly to the king, for the benefit of the land. He knew the dream of the king, and that there was going to befall a great calamity in the region. There would be a need to manage the finances and the produc>on of the land in a precise manner, which he had already laid out earlier in a detailed manner. This management needed special skills, which Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬ knew he had been given by Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬wanted to spread good in he country, although it was a disbelieving na>on. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬is now the Finance Minister of Egypt. He would be the :

Now he is established in the palace. Between these two posi>ons, there was the period of nurturing in the prison. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬would be trusted with all the storehouses of the land.

But if Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬sends it your way, as a giL, then He helps you manage it too. 18

This is not arrogance, but a need. The king trusted Yusuf ‫عليه السالم‬, and he wants to reinforce the trust by assuring the king that he was qualified to take care of the treasury. Saying these words takes a lot of taqwa, that you hold your heart from any arrogance entering it. At the >me of the Prophet Mohammad ‫صلى اهلل عليه و سلم‬, when he sent armies to conquer different countries, he told them to show the strength and greatness of the Islamic troops. The humility is in its place, and showing the ability is in its place. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬says ‫حفيظ‬, because he had the ability to use the finances wisely, without wastage or miserliness. He says ‫عليم‬, because he knew where and how to use the money and produce in the best manner. Your job is a trust, or ‫أمانة‬. You cannot waste anything, not even the >me. Nor can you use anything for your personal benefit. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬was laying down the terms of the contract with the king. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬had a mission to serve society. His preaching was different from other prophets and messengers. His whole life was an invita>on to Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬. Life resembles steps leading upwards to Allah ‫ سبحانه‬ ‫وتعالى‬. The higher you go, the more struggle you face. This is to gauge your truthfulness and determina>on. When you reach the peak, then the struggle disappears, and the way becomes easier and smoother.

When Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬created Paradise, He said to Jibreel : Go and look at it. He went and looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might, no one who hears of it will fail to enter it. He then surrounded it with disagreeable things, and said: Go and look at it, Jibreel. He went and looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might, I am afraid that no one will enter it. When Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬created Hell, He said: Go and look at it, Jibreel. He went and looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might, no one who hears of it will enter it. He then surrounded it with desirable things and said: Go and look at it, Jibreel. He went, looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might and power, I am afraid that no one will remain who does not enter it. Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬is always with you. He is your Rabb, He nurtures you un>l you are pure enough to enter Jannah.

Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬has now been given power and authority to make laws; the king would seek his advice before making any decisions. The relief follows a boWleneck. Now he had freedom to seWle wherever he wanted; there was no compulsion any more. Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬never thought of the past or the future, he lived for Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬. He did not feel self-pity when thinking of his past, nor planned for the future.

ِ ‫األَر‬ ْ ‫ُوسفَ فِي‬ ُ ‫َو َكذَٰل َِك َم َّكن َّا لِي‬ The life of Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬has many ups and downs. He was established in his father's home, with love, then he was cruelly uprooted from there and thrown into a well. He was again established in the house of the Aziz, albeit as a servant, but cared for. Then, in another upheaval of his life, he was incarcerated in prison. Now his life takes another turn, and Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬is established in the palace of the king of Egypt. Throughout all these trials, Yusuf ‫ عليه السالم‬never lost hope in the mercy of Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬. As long as you are on the way to Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬, there is always hope. You have to be pa>ent. The Messenger of Allah ‫ صلى اهلل عليه و سلم‬said :

Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬opened the way for Yusuf ‫عليه السالم‬, due to His infinite mercy. This is special mercy of Allah, because although it is material wealth and power, it was for the sake of Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬. If the provision of dunya is used for worldly gain, it is only general mercy. But if it is used to draw closer to Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬, it is classified as special mercy. Whoever enters Jannah will do so due to the special mercy of Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬. Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬gives provisions according to His perfect wisdom and knowledge. When a person achieves a posi>on of power and authority, it is not luck. Everything is preordained. If something is decreed to happen, it will happen. If you complain, you lose the reward. This is a test to see if you are pleased with the decree of Allah ‫سبحانه وتعالى‬. The majority of incidents in your life are according to your desires; there are only a few which are contrary from what you want. 20

This is nurturing. Remember Allah ‫ سبحانه وتعالى‬appreciates everything you do for Him. Nothing you do for Him is wasted. Take the good and swallow the bad; do not react, or lose your temper. Either they will change, or die of irrita>on; you will get the reward regardless. The Prophet Mohammad ‫ صلى اهلل عليه و سلم‬had a Jew neighbor, who used to throw garbage his way every day. One day there was no garbage, so he ‫ صلى اهلل عليه و سلم‬ went to check on and found him ill. This was the means for the Jew to embrace Islam. Your life is a transit. If you have the love of Allah ‫ سبحانه‬ ‫وتعالى‬, you don't need anything else. So work towards the HereaLer, and reap the rewards.

GOLDEN RULE IN ISLAM: LOVE FOR THE PEOPLE WHAT YOU LOVE FOR YOURSELF OF GOODNESS The golden rule, or the ethics of reciprocity, is an Islamic moral principle which calls upon people to treat others the way they would like to be treated. This principle was stated several times by our Prophet Mohammed SAWS, so it is a principle Muslims should discuss when sharing Islam with people of other religions.

By Him in whose Hand is my soul, a servant does not believe until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself of goodness. [Musnad Ahmad, Number 12734, Sahih] In another narration, he SAWS said: ‫َّاسمَا يُحِ بُّ لِنَفْسِ ِه وَحَ ت َّى يُحِ بَّ املْ َ ْر َء َ

Anas ibn Malik RA reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‫َاليُ ْؤ ِم ُن أ َحَ ُد ُك ْم حَ ت َّى يُحِ بَّ ألِ َخِ ي ِه أ َ ْو قَالَ لِجَ ا ِر ِه مَا يُحِ بُّ لِنَفْسِ ِ
ه‬ None of you has faith until he loves for his brother or his neighbor what he loves for himself. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Number 72] An-Nawawi comments on this tradition, saying:

‫يُحِ بُّ ُه إ َِّالهللَِّ َعزَّ وَجَ َّ
ل‬ None of you has faith until he loves for the people what he loves for himself; and until he loves a person only for the sake of Allah the Exalted. [Musnad Ahmad, Number 13463, Sahih] In another narration, he SAWS said: ‫خيْ ِ

The servant does not reach the reality of faith until he loves for the people what he loves for himself of goodness. [Sahih Ibn Hibban, Book of Faith, Number 238, Sahih]

In another narration, he SAWS said:

‫فيحب ألخيه الكافر مايحب لنفسه من دخوله في اإلسالم كما يح‬

‫املحبة البشرية‬ It is better to interpret this as brotherhood in general, such that it includes the disbeliever and the Muslim. So he should love for his brother, the disbeliever, what he loves for himself which is his entering Islam, just as he should love for his brother Muslim that he remains in Islam. For this reason, it is recommended to supplicate for the disbeliever to be guided. The meaning of love here is an intention for good and benefit, and this meaning is religious love, not human love. [Sharh Arba’een An-Nawawi, Hadith Number 13] In another narration, he SAWS said: ‫وَا َّلذِي نَفْسِ ي ِبيَ ِد ِه َاليُ ْؤ ِم ُن َعبْ ٌد حَ ت َّى يُحِ بَّ ألِ َخِ ي ِه مَا يُحِ بُّ لِنَفْسِ ِه ِم ْ

In another narration, he SAWS said: ‫َش َه ُد أ َ ْ

[Al-Bayhaqi, Shu’b Al-Iman, Number 10369, Sahih] Abu Muntafiq reported: He said, “O Messenger of Allah, teach me what will save me from Allah’s punishment and enter me into Paradise.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‫ُوض َ

Spread peace between yourselves. [Sunan AtTirmidhi, Book of Resurrection, Number 2510, Hasan] Abu Al-Mughirah reported: He said, “O Messenger of Allah, tell me about a deed that will bring me near Paradise and distance me from the Hellfire.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‫َّاس‬

They hate their actions but show mercy to them so that through their admonitions they might leave their actions. They are afraid that the Hellfire will consume their bodies. The believer will not truly be a believer until he is pleased for people to have what he is pleased for himself. If he sees in someone else some merit by which they excel him, then he wishes the like of it for himself. If that merit is related to the religion then it is good. 24

Narrated Abu Sa'id: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: There is a tree in Paradise (so huge) that a fast (or a trained) rider may travel: for one hundred years without being able to cross it. (Bukhari Vol. 8, Book 76, Hadith 559)

Narrated Abu Aiyub: A man said to the Prophet (‫" )ﷺ‬Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter Paradise." The people said, "What is the matter with him? What is the matter with him?" ALLAH CREATED THE UNIVERSE COLLIDING GALAXIES There are an estimated 200 other galaxies besides our own in the universe, each of which consists of 200 billion stars, revolves around its own axis, and follows an orbit. Our galaxy is traveling at a high speed in the direction of an imaginary point called the Solar Apex near the bright star Vega. Due to all of this movement in the universe, collisions and huge explosions occur. But because they happen millions of light years away, we do not notice them. For instance, the Hubble telescope took pictures of two galaxies colliding some 63 million light years away. As a result of this event, new stars were born and massive hydrogen clouds were formed and released into space. If such a collision were to take place near Earth, it could become one of the factors that would destroy our planet. Furthermore, scientists state that such an end probably awaits our solar system. One such disclosure is the following: Astrophysicists speak of serious problems the Earth will have in the near future. The first of these is a supernova explosion (a supernova: a star that explodes and becomes extremely luminous in the process). Even if the time and location of this explosion is unknown, predictions put forward are looking at the near future and they are not very encouraging. According to scientists, the reddish supergiant Betelgeuse star at a distance of 430 light years, appears ready to explode. They reckon that hypernovas are created by the fusion of black holes or by the merger of black holes with neutron stars. But none of them knows how these time bombs are distributed in space or what would happen to us if they were to come near our world. The Qur'an reveals that on that Day, Earth will be rocked by devastating tremors; that people will experience pure terror; that the Sun, the Moon, and stars will be extinguished; and that everything will be destroyed rapidly. A collision could cause all of these events, and would affect not only Earth but our entire solar system as well. Scientific research reveals that the promised Day of Judgment will definitely come, that all living and non-living things and Earth too will be destroyed, and that Allah will create a new sky and a different world. All of this is related to point out that Earth can also die by natural causes. However, there is no doubt that Allah does not require a cause to do such things and that if Allah wills it, he can make the Day of Judgment happen at any time and even without the need for a collision or an explosion. The probabilities we have examined here are only a few of the possible ways for life to be destroyed. Moreover, scientific research confirms that such an event is a realistic expectation. 27

The universe's continued expansion is another probable cause for Earth to die. People are untouched by such concerns, because they see them as very distant possibilities or simply prefer to let future generations deal with them. However, there are even greater risks, and only Allah SWT knows which one will bring about the Day of Judgment. Regardless of how remote a possibility seems to people, research and an increase in catastrophic events suggests that such a day is approaching. And only Allah SWT knows when this will happen, for:
The day He says "Be!" it is. His speech is Truth. The Kingdom will be His on the Day the Trumpet is blown, the Knower of the Unseen and the Visible. He is the AllWise, the All-Aware. ( Surat al-An‘am, 73)

ALLAH SWT IS ALL-POWERFUL For many years, people have wondered how the universe will end. Many possibilities spring to mind, but Allah SWT can make it happen without a cause and all of a sudden. The probabilities revealed by scientific research constitute a warning and give us the opportunity to reflect and turn to Allah SWT before that difficult Day comes in accordance with His SWT will. The believers are certain that the Day of Judgment will happen at the predetermined time in His presence. All people will experience it, for they will be in the All-Powerful' s grip, as follows:
 (٤٢) ‫أ َ ۡو نُ ِريَن ََّك ٱ َّلذِى َو َع ۡدنَـٰ ُه ۡم فَ ِإنَّا َع َليۡہِم ُّم ۡقت َ ِدرُو َن‬ Or let you see what We have promised them. They are completely in Our power. ( Surat az-Zukhruf, 42) Many events can cause Earth's existing order to collapse and all life to be lost. Furthermore, as time progresses, even more probable causes are added to the already existing ones. Many signs indicate that our world is moving rapidly toward its predetermined end, even if most people deny the existence of the Day of Judgment. The Qur'an points out this reality in the following verse:
 (١٥) ٰ‫َس َعى‬ ۡ ‫سِبِمَ ا ت‬ ۭ ۡ‫خفِيہَا لِت ُجۡ ز َٰى كُلُّ نَف‬ ۡ ُ ‫ٱلسا َع َة ءَا ِتيَ ٌة أَكَا ُد أ‬ َّ ‫إِ َّن‬ The Hour is coming, but I have concealed it so that every self can be repaid for its efforts. (Surah Ta Ha, 15) Scientists have reached a consensus, based on scientific data, that the universe will be destroyed. Newspapers, magazines, television programs, and other media outlets often inform people of the latest scientific discoveries. Researchers who are aware of these facts are looking for ways to prevent such calamities in order to delay the universe's death. Another area of research focuses on the probable changes that would take place on Earth and its effects on life were such a disaster to strike. The resulting data bears a striking resemblance to many of the events foretold in the Qur'an.
