A Monthly Newsletter by Masjid Bani Hashim, Jumeirah Islands, Dubai Issue #28 Feb 1-By Al-'Asr (the time). 2-Verily, man is in loss, 3-Except those who believe (in Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth, and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries one may encounter in Allâh's Cause during preaching His religion of Islâmic Monotheism or Jihâd).
How are you going to spend your time? What a precious gift Allah سبحانه و تعالىhas given us! Do we really appreciate it as it should be appreciated? Or, do we take it for granted and think of it as an eternal asset, never to end? Sorry to disappoint you, if you have witnessed at least one white hair, or if you have witnessed your body change, whether you are younger or older, you will notice that no one gets younger and your body does gives evidence of that!
What does that mean? It means that time is precious, that now is all we have. Tomorrow we do not know! We ask Allah سبحانه و تعالىto extend our lives in goodness and to make us witness another Ramadan. Why did I mention Ramadan? Subhanal Allah, is not Ramadan the month worth asking Allah ? The month where the reward for good deeds is multiplied and when we become much more efficient in the way we use our time to worship Allah سبحانه و تعالىand come closer to Him with additional good deeds. May Allah سبحانه و تعالىmake us as productive as we are in Ramadan in other months of the year. Ameen

A Monthly Newsletter by Masjid Bani Hashim, Jumeirah Islands, Dubai Issue #28 Feb 2016 Introduction
Now how can I stretch this time? All of us have 24 hours in a day and there are days that we are complaining that “we do not know where the time went”, other days when we say the “time seems to have stopped”. What does that mean? It means that barakah that we discussed in the last issue can be reflected on how much we get done in the 24 hours, in how productive we are, in how effective we are in achieving what we wanted to achieve and in the type of work and activities that we get done and the results we obtain. So Allah سبحانه و تعالىswears by time in the above surah, because time is passing, it is not stopping and every day we have either gained or lost time. We surely gained time if we have believed and done good deeds, have also given good advice to others, towards the truth and patience and perseverance. One of the means for ensuring that we do not waste time is to set goals for what we want to achieve with this gift of time and we also want to measure the progress we are doing. If we do not measure, then it has no value. Value comes with measure, with being accountable towards ourselves and towards Allah سبحانه و تعالى. So let’s bring this article to an end by asking Allah سبحانه و تعالىto help us and guide us to set the most righteous goals in our life and to grant barakah in our time so that there is neither loss nor waste but there is only abundance of all good. Ameen.

NAMES OF ALLAH (SWT): As Salam ()السالم Part 1 Introduction To love Allah (swt) is a pleasure and it’s a cure from all sicknesses of the heart. You will know yourself and understand this life when you know Who is Allah (swt). Knowledge about Allah (swt) is obligatory and He linked knowing His names to paradise. When you know the names of Allah (swt) then you enter paradise, and you will also have that paradise in your heart in this duniya when you know Allah (swt), subhan Allah. As Salam ()السالم The name As Salam is mentioned only once in the Quran in Surah Al Hashr. And when a name is mentioned only once then it has a heavy meaning. Allah (swt) called His deen Islam, He called its followers Muslimeen, and our greeting is ‘salam’. The scholars said this name is called ( – )أسماء الجامعةmeaning all of the names and attributes of Allah (swt) have ‘Salam’ before it. There is salam in His mercy, salam in His love, salam in His pleasure, salam in His wrath, salam in His honor, salam in His humiliation. The desire of everyone is ‘peace’ – salam. Everyone wants peace in his house, peace of mind, peace in his country, peace on the Day of Judgement, peace on the Sirat. Everyone wants safety and security, and we need to thank Allah (swt) for the salam we have. Alhamdulliah, fadhl min Allah, may Allah (swt) keep this great blessing. Ameen. And when you are thankful then Allah (swt) will increase you 4
If you have food for one day and are safe in your house then you’re living as a king. We need to remember this blessing upon us and thank Allah (swt), alhamdulliah. Meaning in the language ()املعنى اللغوي Peace/ salam is freedom, well-being, and to be from all faults, evil and anything disliked When you are in peace then you’re a free person, when you are a Muslim then you’re free, subhan Allah. As Salama is security, safety, to be at rest, and protected Sometimes you might have everything nice around but you have the feeling of fear inside you – you cannot enjoy when you’re in this kind of state; you’re not in peace. But when you believe that Allah is As Salam then you will ask for ‘salam’ from Him and He will give you. Recall in Surah Maryam 15, (And Salâm (peace) be on him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he will be raised up to life (again)!) – salam is mentioned in the moments of transit. You need peace/protection at the time of birth, at the time of death, and at the time of resurrection. We need salam in every moment in our lives because we’re going from one decree to another until we meet Allah (swt). Allah (swt) named Himself ‘As Salam’ and He called paradise – ‘Dar As Salam’. (Allâh calls to the Home of peace (i.e. Paradise, by accepting Allâh's religion of Islâmic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds and abstaining from polytheism and evil deeds) and guides whom He wills to a Straight Path) What is ‘Dar As Salam’? – Paradise is a place free from all disturbances, grief, and sadnesses. You have reached a place where you are safe – there is no hellfire, there is no fitna, there is no evil, there are no bad words, there are no bad people, there are no tears, there are no regrets – you are safe. May Allah (swt) make us enter Dar As Salam. Ameen. But in this life, wherever you may be you can’t truly enjoy, you’re bound to worry, feel fear, fall sick, etc. Ahmed ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked, ‘when will be a person be at rest?’ He said, ‘when you first set foot in paradise’. Sometimes you might find children who are innocent, newborns with no sin though they struggle and can be sick and go through pain, and this shows Surah Al Inshiqaq 6 (ِحا فَمُ َلـٰقِيه ً۬ ك َك ۡد َ ِّك كَا ِدحٌ إِ َلىٰ َرب َ َِّنسـٰ ُن إِن َ ٱإل ۡ )يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
5
(O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, and you will meet). In this life you’re not in Dar As Salam. But if you are a Muslim, you are in peace, even if your outer is not peace, but the only thing that can give you peace is Islam. If you are saved, then you’ll be happy. So Allah (swt) called Himself As Salam, His deen is Islam, and paradise is Dar As Salam. And the only way you can have peace is (( – )أسلمت وجهي هللI submitted my face to Allah). (Truly, the religion with Allâh is Islâm). Islam is the only religion calling for all types of peace – financial peace, marital peace, social peace. When you are submitting to the rulings of Islam then you will be in peace. Allah (swt) created us and wants the best for us – He wants the best religion for you. If there is no peace in the house, then ask yourself, ‘where is the Islam?’, subhan Allah. Allah (swt) calls the people who accept Islam – Muslimeen. Who is the Muslim? Hadith: (،ِِسا ِن ِه َويَ ِده َ ن ِم ْن ل َ ُسلِمُ و ْ ْسلِ َم امل َ م ْن َ ُسلِ ُم ْ ْ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّ ِبيُّ صلى اهلل عليه وسلم " امل،عبْ َد اهللَِّ بْ َن عَمْ رٍو َ ُس ِمعْت َ َ قَال،ٍع ْن عَا ِمر َ ) (Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: The Prophet ( )ﷺsaid, "A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue or his hands.) - Sahih al-Bukhari 6484. If you are a true Muslim then you will be in peace and this is a basic and essential definition of a Muslim. What’s the cause of disturbance and insecurity? The tongue and hands. Someone can tell you something that makes you afraid and worry and hands can harm you. We want to follow this hadith and be a true Muslim, how? You begin with yourself, don’t look at others, and don’t say my children, spouse, etc. Women are the foundation to a society, and if the woman is at peace then the whole house will be in peace. We need to be careful with our tongue and hands. Look at the definition of a Muslim, he does not harm others with his tongue and hands, a person cannot be praying and then hurting others and screaming at others in the house and being aggressive.

(Abu Hurayra said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked, 'Messenger of Allah! A certain woman prays in the night, fasts in the day, acts and gives sadaqa, but injures her neighbours with her tongue.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'There is no good in her. She is one of the people of the Fire.') - Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 119, Authenticated by Al Albani as Sahih. We don’t want to be the type where others turn away from us or cut-off from us because of our tongue. A Muslim needs to spread peace by his behavior. The first quality of Ibad Ar Rahman (The Slaves of The Most Merciful) is they walk gently on the earth, subhan Allah. When the tabi’een went abroad, Islam simply spread with their manners though they didn’t speak their language, subhan Allah. Everyone loves a peaceful and gentle person, not a rude one. And when we greet others our greeting is ‘As Salam Alaykum’ – peace be upon you, which means you are saved and in peace from my tongue and hands. How can someone come in saying ‘as salam alaykum’ and then begin with screaming and fighting, subhan Allah. We need to revive the meaning of ‘As Salam Alaykum’ and not take it only as a ‘cultural’ greeting. When the Prophet ( )ﷺand Abu Bakr (ra) would walk together and there is a tree along the way, each goes to the side of the tree, and when they come together they say ‘as salam alaykum’, subhan Allah. When you submit to Allah (swt) then you’re living in peace. And when you enter paradise it will be said: Surah Az Zumar 73: خلُوهَا ُ ع َليۡڪُ ۡم طِ بۡتُ ۡم فَٱ ۡد َ س َلـٰ ٌم َ خزَنَتُہَا َ م ًراۖ حَ تَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَ آءُوهَا َوفُتِحَ تۡ أَبۡوَٲبُهَا َوقَالَ َل ُه ۡم َ ُ)وَسِ يقَ ٱ َّلذِي َن ٱتَّ َقوۡا ْ َربَّہُ ۡم إِلَى ٱلۡجَ نَّ ِة ز (ََ ـٰلِدِين (And those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups, till, when they reach it, and its gates will be opened (before their arrival for their reception) and its keepers will say: Salâmun 'Alaikum (peace be upon you)! You have done well, so enter here to abide therein.") May Allah (swt) make us apply this salam and spread it among others. Ameen.

Umm Abban, Khawlah and Juwairiya showed great courage in the battlefield. Another female companion, Umm 'Atiyah took part in seven battles, and fought during the rule of 'Umar (radiAllahu anhu) There is one female companion that stands out amongst them and is known as being the ‘shield’ of Prophet (saws) in the Battle of Uhud. The Prophet (saws) had later related to 'Umar (radiAllahu anhu) that in whichever direction he turned in the battlefield he could see her defending and protecting him. The lady with a strong determination, courage and valour is Ummu ‘Ammarah Nusaybah A Muslim woman has a great role to play in the society. One should not imagine her to be someone who is hidden away from the world, oppressed, oblivious and unconcerned about her surroundings. Her whole life need not revolve only around her husband and children, having no personality or ambition of her own; rather she is required to be active in all aspects of life, be it religion, politics or business. Examples of brave women from the time of the Prophet (saws) are many; they used to be active during the battles that took

My journey into Surah Maryam, part 6 Part 6 and final part of my learning from the tafsir of Surah Maryam delivered by a dear teacher during the last 10 days of Ramadan. We finished last week at ayah 67. This issue, in shaa Allah we will cover up till the end of the Surah Maryam, ayah 98 Alhamdulil Allah Rabb al alameen wa salato wa salamo ala Rasulil Allah. We finished last month in a very important ayah, number 67, where Allah SWT reminds us that there was a time before our existence or creation, when we were nothing! So subhanal Allah, why are we so arrogant? How can have they forgotten that once upon a time we were inexistent? A similar ayah to number 67 can be found in Surah Yasin, ayah 77, where Allah SWT remind us that we were from a drop of sperm! Subhanal Allah Hence we should not judge people and we should avoid purifying ourselves. We never know who is what in front of Allah SWT. We should focus on ourselves as we will carry our own light on the day of qayamah when crossing the siraat (surah Al Hadid, ayah 12). Allah SWT takes an oath ayah 68 to remind us that everyone is going to be gathered on the day of qayamah. Speed in siraat is your speed in dunya towards good deeds. Prophet SAW will be waiting for us as the end of siraat. He SAW will be the first one to pass the siraat. He SAW will be making duaa for mumenoon to pass in peace. Everyone will pass through the jahanam, this is very clear from the ayat 68 and 71. In ayah 72, Allah SWT reassures that He will protect those who had taqwa. In ayah 73, Allah SWT tells us about the arrogance of disbelievers, who believed that their associations, gatherings were better. Ayat 74-98 The key difference between mumeen and kufaar is that the later do not believe in ghaib, in the unseen. Do not forget that we are here temporarily. For Allah SWT this dunya does not mean much at all. 17
Allah SWT gave so much to Suleiman AS but he did not become ungrateful. When something is taken from you, think about Ayub AS. When you feel proud, think about Karun. The more you increase your eman, the more light you will have in the siraat. Everything is from Allah SWT. Dunya is not a measurement of your success. You do not know who is high in front of Allah SWT. Allah SWT sees your eman, taqwa, the light that is shining in your heart. Hidayah requires effort and the best means of hidayah is the Qur'an. You walk, Allah SWT will run to you, Allah SWT increases in guidance those who are guided. Ask Allah SWT for beneficial ilm and hidayah. Allah SWT gives deen only to those whom Allah SWT loves and you have to be sincere. Thank Allah SWT for all you have given; Allah SWT never took anything back from Dawood AS or Suleiman AS because they were shakereen and they fulfilled the rights of the blessings that Allah SWT had given them. The doors of khayr are open. Believers feel content with what Allah SWT has given because they always compare against the one who has less. Whatever comes in our way, we say Alhamdulil Allah. Everything we say, kiramun khatebeen will write. Think before speaking. We have to work to increase our taqwa and eman. People who are in seerat ul mustaqueem they have also desires, but they convert their desires into means of obtaining the pleasure of Allah SWT. One sees dunya as everything; others see dunya as a passage. On seerat ul mustaqueem you will have Peace. Intercession on the day of qayamah will be decided by Allah SWT, whom He thinks is worthy. Whomever Allah SWT created will go to Him as a slave. Allah is Rabb Al alameen; we all will go to Him alone. When Allah loves someone, Allah orders Gibreel to love him...This is acceptance in dunya. One of the people who will get the shade of Allah SWT are the ones who meet and separate for the sake of Allah SWT. Attach to Allah SWT, it does not matter if people do not approve your return to Allah SWT. In a nutshell Surah Maryam is about mercy of Allah and becoming Abdul Allah. In no other surah the Name Ar Rahman has been mentioned so many times as in Surah Ar Rahman.

It reached all the men including the Aziz....again. An uncontrolled sin harms all society. The husbands of the women involved were so embarrassed by the behavior of their wives, and they went to the Aziz to try to find a solu:on to this problem created by his wife. Then it appeared to them aAer they saw the signs When the men inves:gated the incident, they saw clear evidence that the ladies were guilty, and Yusuf عليه السالم was innocent. In spite of this, jus:ce was not carried out. There were contradic:ons in their behavior. The actual culprit was the wife of the Aziz. She ins:gated this whole mess, had no shame or guilt about her behavior. She openly commiFed the sin and was not even ashamed of it. When someone sins for the first :me, he is afraid and feels ashamed. But if he con:nues, there is no guilt or shame leA. That’s why the sin must be stopped in the beginning; when there is guilt and shame, there is a chance of repentance. There were three pieces of evidence proving the innocence of Yusuf عليه السالم. - the shirt was torn from the back - the witness in the house of the Aziz - the injured hands of the ladies. The strongest evidence was the state of the hands of the ladies. The men were in a humilia:ng posi:on. They followed their desire to rid themselves of this situa:on with-
out harming their reputa:on, by inclining towards the wife of the Aziz, and not Yusuf ;عليه السالمthere was a miscarriage of jus:ce. They decided to imprison Yusuf عليه السالمfor an unspecified :me period, un:l the incident was forgoFen. Yusuf عليه السالمwas thrown into jail without commiJng a crime. There was wisdom in this decision too. - Yusuf عليه السالمwas happy, this is what he made dua for. - He was protected in prison from the wife of the Aziz and the society ladies. The husbands did not trust the ladies in not following Yusuf عليه السالمif he was exiled. - It shows the love of the Aziz for Yusuf عليه السالم. - The incident would be forgoFen once Yusuf عليه السالم was absent from the picture. This was the best solu:on for Yusuf عليه السالم. Surely he ( the Aziz ) would imprison him ( Yusuf عليه ) السالمfor a :me In ayah 32, it was men:oned that Yusuf عليه السالمwould be imprisoned, in the passive state of the verb, without men:oning who would imprison him. Here it tells us that the Aziz would imprison him. People are imprisoned for a reason, be it because the person is evil, to humiliate someone, or to protect the society. Yusuf عليه السالمwas imprisoned even though he was innocent. For Yusuf عليه السالم, the :me in prison was good training.

The story of Yusuf عليه السالمtakes another twist; he is now behind bars........ And there entered the prison with him two young men. One of them said, “Indeed, I have seen myself [in a dream] pressing wine.” The other said, “Indeed, I have seen myself carrying upon my head [some] bread, from which the birds were eating. Inform us of its interpreta tion; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good.” 12:36 Yusuf عليه السالمunderwent various trials in his life: - the trial of jealousy - the trial of enmity - the trial of desire - the trial of hardship in the jail Yusuf عليه السالمalways remained pleased with Allah سبحانه وتعالى, never complained, not even when he was a small boy. A trial is like a dark cloud, it will pass, however difficult. The thing that maFers is your reac:on. Do not magnify the problem, it is not so important. The only thing that maFers in life is that you don't fail your test and enter the Fire. One of the reasons for unhappiness and depression is the feeling of being مظلومor oppressed. Yusuf عليه السالم was the most oppressed, in different situa:ons, by different people in his life. He always sought the aid of Allah سبحانه وتعالى. The trial with the wife of the Aziz was the peak of his trials, and he was afraid he would fall into sin. He actually preferred being sent to jail and bear the hardships there
rather than being in the luxury of the palace, albeit as a servant. All the evidence supported the innocence of Yusuf عليه السالم, but he was s:ll imprisoned. This was the wisdom of Allah سبحانه وتعالى. Some:mes things happen to us, which seem unfair or harsh. Accept that everything happens for a reason, according to the wisdom of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, which is perfect. The test is to be pa:ent and not complain, not even in your heart. Whenever you see injus:ce, flee to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, and remember He سبحانه وتعالىis the All Wise. Whatever happens is decreed by Allah سبحانه وتعالى, accept it and submit to Him; that is Islam. Remember that Allah is the All Knower. He knows what is best for His slaves, and for society as a whole. Allah سبحانه وتعالىis the Praiseworthy, all His ac:ons are praised; remember this when you see or undergo any harmful situa:on. Yusuf عليه السالمremained calm, throughout all the difficul:es in his life; the trials made him stronger. This is the condi:on of a believer, the trials make him stronger. In contrast, trials make a hypocrite weaker. Yusuf عليه السالمis now behind bars. Allah سبحانه وتعالىdid not give us any details of how Yusuf عليه السالمentered the prison. He didn't argue or protest his innocence; he only wanted to escape the tempta:on presented to him by the wife of the Aziz. And there entered the prison with him two young men The detail which was important in the incident of Yusuf عليه السالمentering the prison was that two boys or young men who accompanied him, were also imprisoned with him. They were slaves or servants. One was a baker for the king, and the other one served the king drinks. The important detail about these two boys was their connec:on with the king of Egypt. It is not clear 20
what crime they commiFed. Some scholars say they poisoned the food and drink, some say they talked about the king. It seem these two boys shared a cell with Yusuf عليه السالم, so they conversed with each other. Something was disturbing these boys, a recurring dream, different for both of them....and they found out Yusuf عليه السالم had the ability to interpret dreams. This ability is an inspira:on from Allah سبحانه وتعالى, cannot be learned. Ya'qub عليه السالمand the Prophet Mohammad صلى اهلل عليه و سلمalso had this giA from Allah سبحانه وتعالى. The story of Yusuf عليه السالمbegan with a dream, and advances with another dream. A prisoner has no connec:on with the world outside; their window to that world is dreams. They are free to dream vividly. They are also curious to know their future in prison. Therefore dreams are important for prisoners. There are three types of dreams : : ال ّرؤْيا a vision, clear and unforgeFable : الحلم a dream from the shaitan, to disturb the slave : حديث النفس whatever is on your mind The world of dreams is complicated. A dream is not a straigh_orward story, it contains symbols which need to be interpreted. Cau:on must be taken when narra:ng a dream, because if interpreted incorrectly, it actually may occur. This is why it must be told only to someone who is trustworthy and has the ability to interpret it, and must be told precisely how it is remembered, without any embellishments. If you are in any doubt, don't tell anyone about it. If it bothers you, just abstain from any sin you are commiJng, and do good deeds; that should be your goal in life anyway.
The one who fabricates his dream will be ordered to :e a knot between two barley seeds on the Day of Judgement, an impossible feat. This is because a dream is from Allah سبحانه وتعالى, if you lie about it, it is as if you lie about Allah سبحانه وتعالى. The dreams of the two boys were true visions. True dreams can be seen by believers and disbelievers. These boys were disbelievers. They narrated their respec:ve dreams to Yusuf عليه السالم..... One of them said, "Indeed, I have seen myself [in a dream] pressing wine." We are not told which boy had either dream. The other said, "Indeed, I have seen myself carrying upon my head [some] bread, from which the birds were ea:ng This dream is more detailed. نَبِّئْن َا ِبتَأْوِيلِهِ إِنَّا نَرَاكَ ِمنَ املْ ُحْ سِ ِنني indeed, we see you to be of those who do good Inform us of its interpreta:on The reason they trusted Yusuf عليه السالمwas because they could see he was not a criminal. In the first place, 21
he was so good-looking, he stood out amongst everyone in the prison. Secondly, they could see the goodness of his heart; his piety showed on his face. The effects of good deeds show as a glow on the face of the doer; evil shows as a gloom. Many scholars were imprisoned and became well known. The prison is a noble place for innocent people, where they can concentrate on their worship, acquiring knowledge, and accoun:ng themselves, without any outward interference. It is an honour, and elevates them in ranks.
Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (RA) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,"A Muslim is not afflicted by hardship, sickness, sadness, worry, harm, or depression—even if pricked by a thorn—but Allah expiates his sins because of

The baker and the server of drinks saw the goodness in Yusuf عليه السالم, even though they themselves were criminals. All souls have an ins:nct, whereby they can recognize good and bad.
Sa`id said, "I was with Salman (RA)

SAYED AL KHATEER Thought ()الخاطرة: How do you deal with an angry person? Whenever you find your friend angry, and this could be anyone – your parents, spouse, friends, etc. And he is speaking improper words.. Then don’t hold it against him, subhan Allah. Imagine this would solve so many problems in society because riAs happen at :mes of anger. When a person is angry, he is influenced by the shaitan. Because his state is that of a drunkard, he doesn’t know what’s going on. An angry person is like a drunkard because his mind is absent, subhan Allah. They will uFer, react, and do things without thinking. Be pa:ent with his rage because the shaitan has overcome him. When you are being pa:ent with an angry person, then you are actually helping him, subhan Allah. His nature is coming to the surface and his mind is now covered – that’s why he’s like a drunkard. You should just pardon whatever he says – don’t put it in your heart or your mind. And if you ever take it against him, meaning you recall what they said to you.. Or you respond back to him while he is in a state of anger – meaning you start screaming at each other and react. Then imagine you are someone sane facing someone who is mentally ill or you are conscious facing someone unconscious – so it doesn’t make sense that you would react, subhan Allah. Have you ever seen anyone reac:ng to someone who is in a coma, who is unconscious? Never. Rather they are very pardoning and feel bad for him and want to help him. Or someone sane scolding someone who is mentally disabled? No. ( )فالذنب لك So the sin is on you, subhan Allah. What should you do? You are pa:ent and want to help the person.
Look at him with eyes of mercy, subhan Allah. Don’t look at him with eyes of revenge or you wan:ng to scold him. When the eyes are full of mercy, then the heart is full of mercy. And this is how we need to deal with sinners – if we see shirk, kufr, etc – we should ask Allah (swt) to guide them because they are s:ll alive, we don’t know what they’re going through. Don’t be judgmental when someone is sinning, you need to look at them with eyes of mercy, and then they will accept what comes from you because what comes out from you will be sweet and gentle. It’s a rule of thumb that we don’t like to take anything from anyone who is judging us. People will see your reac:on before they hear your words. Then you will observe the decree that made him angry, subhan Allah. For example, if you are just looking at him while he’s angry, nothing will make sense. You should never tell an angry person ‘you don’t need to be angry’ because we’re not in his shoes. Rather observe what made him angry. And look at how his nature is being played with – this is a great learning, subhan Allah. No:ce how his nature is being played by the shaitan – it’s like a toy, subhan Allah. So instead of focusing on the person and how bad they are, rather observe and learn from the decree and how the shaitan can play on a person’s nature. And know that when the angry person is aware again, he will regret what happened. He will actually come to you and say I don’t know why I did that and apologize. And then he will appreciate you more than before because of your pa:ence. We need to believe Prophet (pbuh) when he said that victory is with pa:ence. You have different levels of anger, as for the lesser level ( )أن تسلمه فيما يفعل في غضبه الى ما يستريح You should just give them whatever will calm them down. This is not to do be done with everyone. Only in the case of the father/mother is angry with the child. You have to obey your parents, so don’t be angry with them. If your parents don’t like to go somewhere or don’t want to do something – then no problem we won’t do it. You need to do what relaxes them. This is not to be done the other way, not a child angry with the parents. And in the case of a husband angry with the wife, you need to calm him down – don’t get angry with him and lock heads.
24
Let them pour out their anger, because they are your parents and husband, subhan Allah. And you will find that Allah (swt) will support you and give you victory if you remain calm in this situa:on. Allah (swt) commanded us to be du:ful to our parents and they are to make dua’a for us and raise us. And the wife is commanded to obey her husband, and the other way, the man is responsible over the woman. Don’t say now he’s angry, so why should I obey him? This is the real test and there is a reward for it. Of course in general you do not obey them when they are commanding you to disobey Allah (swt). And don’t hold it against them, because it will just make it worse. We are not saying it’s right to get angry, it is wrong, but when it happens, then how you react will help them to repent and be reformed. At the end of the day, the husband and wife find tranquility with each other. Don’t take it personal with whatever he says because remember it’s like they are in a ‘drunken’ state. It’s a problem, so don’t make the problem worse, you want to help them in this problem. And for sure he will come to you regre_ul. He will be sorry and apologize and as a result of your dealing, he will respect you and appreciate you even more, subhan Allah. But majority of people do contrary to this. It’s all because of ego, imagine you get angry with them, and your whole day is ruined, so what’s the point? With your good behavior, you will be a means to reform them and yourself, and it is all accounted in your good deeds. But if they see someone angry and they face them with anger, what will happen? It just establishes enmity, it becomes engrained, subhan Allah. And it’s not wise to deal in this manner. May Allah (swt) help us to overcome anger. Ameen.
Usually, when a believer falls sick, he would not be able to do the same amount of good (prayer, fasting, helping Muslims, etc.) that he used to do when he was well. But Allah, out of His great mercy, continues to record for him the good deeds that he was forced to stop because of his sickness. Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,"For a traveling or sick person, his deeds will be recorded in accordance with what he used to do when he was resident or well." (Al-Bukhari) 25
THE BROKEN PLURAL(َُسر َّ الجَ مْ عُ املُك OR )جَ مْ عُ التَّكْسِ ير This is called broken because it does not retain the structure of the singular noun i.e. it is formed by breaking up the singular noun. Thus, in this type of plural the singular is altered by changing its harakaat or altering the posi:on of its leFers or adding leFers in the plural form. This is analogous to the English where we say Man-Men, Mouse-Mice, or Sheep-Sheep. The broken plural in Arabic is based on different paFerns and there is no one rule which governs the forma:on of the broken plural. These are best learned by prac:ce and usage of the language. Some of these paFerns or ﺍﻭﺯﺍﻥinclude:

For aid The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلمsaid : There was an Israeli man called Juraij, while he was praying, his mother came and called him, but he did not respond to her call. He said (to himself) whether he should continue the prayer or reply to his mother. She came to him the second time and called him and said, "O Allah! Do not let him die until he sees the faces of prostitutes." Juraij used to live in a hermitage. A woman said that she would entice Juraij, so she went to him and presented herself (for an evil act) but he refused. She then went to a shepherd and allowed him to commit an illegal sexual intercourse with her and later she gave birth to a boy. She alleged that the baby was from Juraij. The people went to Juraij and broke down his hermitage, pulled him out of it and abused him. He performed ablution and offered the prayer, then he went to the male (baby) and asked him; "O boy! Who is your father?" The baby replied that his father was the shepherd. The people said that they would build for him a hermitage of gold but Juraij asked them to make it of mud only. To boost his faith Sometimes a push is needed to boost faith and taqwa. Allah سبحانه وتعالىsends a كرامةto amaze the person who is mubarak. The scholars consider this the greatest reason for the كرامات. This reason for كراماتwas rare with the Companions of the Prophet صلى اهلل عليه و سلم, because

Later, a scout came from the army, and said they were fighting overwhelming odds, and suddenly they heard someone calling : oh Sariah the mountain. The blessed person is not just grateful, he is excessively grateful The person who is mubarak feels this excessive gratefulness all the time. He feels he cannot thank Allah سبحانه وتعالىenough. The more his barakah increases, the more his gratefulness increases. He feels he doesn't do anything to deserve the blessings. He knows his barakah and steadfastness is a great blessing from Allah سبحانه وتعالى. His worship is not a favor to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, but to himself.

WHAT IS NOT TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS What is Taught: The science of geography was revived during the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries when the ancient works of Ptolemy were discovered. The Crusades and the Portuguese/Spanish expeditions also contributed to this reawakening. The first scientifically based treatise on geography were produced during this period by Europe's scholars. What Should be Taught: Muslim geographers produced untold volumes of books on the geography of Africa, Asia, India, China and the Indies during the 8th through 15th centuries. These writings included the world's first geographical encyclopedias, almanacs and road maps. Ibn Battutah's 14th century masterpieces provide a detailed view of the geography of the ancient world. The Muslim geographers of the 10th through 15th centuries far exceeded the output by Europeans regarding the geography of these regions well into the 18th century. The Crusades led to the destruction of educational institutions, their scholars and books. They brought nothing substantive regarding geography to the Western world. Â What is Taught: Robert Boyle, in the 17th century, originated the science of chemistry. What Should be Taught: A variety of Muslim chemists, including arRazi, al-Jabr, al-Biruni and al-Kindi, performed scientific experiments in chemistry some 700 years prior to Boyle. Durant writes that the Muslims introduced the experimental method to this science. Humboldt regards the Muslims as the founders of chemistry.

What is Taught: Leonardo da Vinci (16th century) fathered the science of geology when he noted that fossils found on mountains indicated a watery origin of the earth. What Should be Taught: Al-Biruni (11th century) made precisely this observation and added much to it, including a huge book on geology, hundreds of years before Da Vinci was born. Ibn Sina noted this as well. It is probable that Da Vinci first learned of this concept from Latin translations of Islamic books. He added nothing original to their findings. Â What is Taught: The first mention of the geological formation of valleys was in 1756, when Nicolas Desmarest proposed that they were formed over a long periods of time by streams. What Should be Taught: Ibn Sina and al-Biruni made precisely this discovery during the 11th century, fully 700 years prior to Desmarest.
What is Taught: Galileo (17th century) was the world's first great experimenter. What Should be Taught: Al-Biruni (d. 1050) was the world's first great experimenter. He wrote over 200 books, many of which discuss his precise experiments. His literary output in the sciences amounts to some 13,000 pages, far exceeding that written by Galileo or, for that matter, Galileo and Newton combined.

BETWEEN TRIAL AND PUNISHMENT Allah (SWT) makes it clear in the Qur'an that good and evil are part of life's nature; He says : (٣٥) خيۡ ِر ِفتۡن َ ۬ۖةً َو إِ َليۡن َا تُرۡجَ عُو َن َ ِٱلش ِّر وَٱ ۡل َّ ۡت َونَبۡلُوكُم ب ِۗ ۡسذَآٮِٕ َق ُة ٱملۡ َو ٍ ۬ كُلُّ نَف “ ... We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good. And to Us you will be returned.” (21: 35). Trials are sometimes to punish those who violate Allah (SWT)'s laws. But this is not always the case. Other times, trials are to test our faith in Allah (SWT) and hence be given high ranks in Paradise. In this sense, a Muslim should always keep in mind that life is full of its ups and downs, and strives hard to battle against life's vicissitudes. It should be borne in mind that whatever befalls man in life is a form of test and trial; so it behoves every true Muslim to remain patient at times of afflictions and trials, and this will earn him great reward, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) says: "Great is the state of a believer, for he is winner at any rate. If he is given a blessing and thus shows gratitude, it is good for him. If he is struck with an affliction and then shows patience, it is good for him." Allah (SWT) tests His (SWT) servants with good and bad things, with adversity and prosperity. These tests may be a means to give them reward and high ranks in Paradise. This happened in the case of many Messengers and Prophets and many righteous servants of Allah (SWT). Our Prophet (peace be upon him), is reported as saying: "The people most subject to afflictions are the Prophets, then come the righteous and after them come the best people – all according to his goodness." Sometimes, afflictions may be a result of one's sins and his keeping away from the way of Allah (SWT). With this meaning comes the verse that reads: (٣٠) َسبَتۡ أَيۡدِي ُك ۡم َويَ ۡعفُوا ْ عَن َكثِي ۬ ٍر َ ُّصيبَ ٍ۬ة فَبِمَ ا ك ِ َومَآ أ ََصـٰبَڪُم مِّن م “And Whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is what your hands have earned. And He pardons much.” (42: 30) By and large, being afflicted with a misfortune may be a means of giving high ranks in Paradise as in the case of Prophets, Messengers and righteous men. It may also be a means of removing sins and expiating mistakes. Stressing this meaning, our Prophet (peace be upon him) says: "Whatever befalls a Muslim of sorrow, grief, exhaustion, fatigue or harm, Allah will forgive him his sins for that. This is true even for a thorn that pricks his foot." He (peace be upon him) is also reported as saying: "He whom Allah wants to bless in the Hereafter, He afflicts him with tribulations. " Al-Tirmidhi also quotes the Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying: "When Allah wants to bless someone, he hastens His punishments for him in this world. If He wants otherwise with a person, He defers the punishment for him till the afterlife." In the light of the above mentioned facts, it's clear, that a great reward is in store for observing patience and perseverance at times of afflictions, which befall men as part of the nature of life, and in a form of test through which Allah (SWT) distinguishes His (SWT) true servants from all and sundry. 35
