1 FOREWORD This manual provides information to move, install, use and properly maintain the machine manufactured by Docma Ltd and called TRESTLED SAW BENCH ÂŤ LOG-CUTTER Âť model TT600. Hereafter you will also find the components that can be used as spare parts.

By following the instructions provided in this manual, you will work safely in any phase of movement, installation, use or maintenance, also ensuring a regular and economic operation of the machine. Docma Ltd declines any responsibility for negligence or lacking to observe such instructions.

2 GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SAFETY AND INJURY PREVENTION

DANGER Before carrying out any operation, make sure there are no people or things nearby, in order to avoid damages to the machine and prevent any risk for personal safety or for people nearby.

This manual is intended for the user and anyone in charge of the proper and safe use of the machine. Carefully read the guidelines contained hereafter, which provide instructions for optimal and risk-free usage. Familiarize with controls and operations prescribed for the use in safe conditions. Keep this manual together with the manual so as to be able to consult it in the future. The manual must be handed over with the machine if it is sold. A safe usage is guaranteed solely for the functions anticipated in the present manual.

DANGER Immediately report any failure of the machine, including protection shields and blades, to the owner or the person in charge of safety.

The operator appointed to use the machine must be fit for the job, must be fully aware of how it operates and how it should be maneuvered. The operator must follow the instructions contained in the manual scrupulously, to guarantee personal and general safety.

Tools and materials must not be left on the machine (or where they could interfere with mechanical movements) and in no circumstances can they be placed where they could drop and cause damage to people or things.

The tools used must be in good conditions since any deteriorated tool, or not in an optimal state, is potentially hazardous.

Each tool shall be used only for the intended usage, and in the most appropriate way.

Do not clean or touch any moving part.

Any loose garment (such as scarves, ties, etc.) is potentially dangerous. Always use tight-fitting articles of clothing.

3 DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE The present machine is a circular saw bench with a tilting loading system which uses a rack. The machine is available in two different models, one working with an electric motor and belted transmission, the other with a shafted power trade-off to operate with a tractor or similar.The machine has been designed for use both in agricultural context and for amateurs. Any other use is not contemplated and not authorized. Only steel blades shall be applicable.

3.1 FUNCTIONING AND USAGE OF THE MACHINE The machine has been designed and manufactured solely for the purpose of cutting wood and materials derived from or comparable to wood, in agricultural companies or for hobbyists. The machine has been designed for usage outdoors. The machine can be utilized to cut logs with a maximum diameter of 215mm and maximum length of 750mm. Should you need to work on materials exceeding these measures (in any case only in length, never in diameter) it is necessary to have two people working together with the machine, both fully trained on how it works and fit to use it safely. Please refer to the following chapters, which shall be read carefully to guarantee a safe usage of the machine.

DANGER BEFORE OPERATING THE MACHINE, READ THIS MANUAL CAREFULLY. The machine must be used by trained and authorized personnel only. Safe usage of the machine is guaranteed only when following the functions listed in the present manual scrupulously.

DANGER Never install, on the machine, parts that are not supplied by DOCMA and/or exceeding the dimensions allowed (note 4.3 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS). Before using any utensil, verify it is fully compliant with the requirements in regulation EN847-1:1997.

3.2 UNUSUAL OR UNEXPECTED USAGE OF THE MACHINE

DANGER Any use or operation not in line with what is prescribed in this manual can cause damage to the machine and compromise the operating technical conditions for which the machine has been designed and manufactured, which would possibly hamper its safety characteristics. In particular, it is absolutely forbidden to use the machine indoors or in an environment that is not well ventilated.

DANGER The operator in charge must not carry out any type of maintenance and/or any action to help the machine, when this is completing its working cycle.

4 SPECIFIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 4.1 TRANSPORT, MOVEMENT, POINTS FOR LIFTING

DANGER Please load, unload and move the machine with extreme care, making sure that, during the maneuvers, there are no people or things within the range of the lifting device.

The machine is dispatched and delivered already fully assembled, and thanks to its supporting structure and light weight, it can be easily transported by two people by hand, holding it by the chassis.

5 RESIDUAL RISKS

DANGER It is the duty of the company owner, or the person in charge of safety, to provide the operator with all the information and help required to guarantee personal safety while operating the machine.

Each phase in the development of our saw-benches, from design to initial drawing, from dimensioning to manufacturing and testing, was carried out with maximum attention and care for quality, both mechanical and structural. This guarantees a safe utilization for the personnel, with limited environmental footprint.

Yet we must point out that, despite all the care applied, the machine provided presents certain risks which cannot be completely eliminated, due to the type of operations involved. Therefore the operator must absolutely be informed about the residual risks listed hereafter, and must use the machine paying maximum attention at all times.

ATTENTION The operator must be given a copy of this manual, making sure he reads it thoroughly and learns how to operate the machine safely.

5.1 RISK RELATED TO CUTTING

This danger is always present, during normal operations but also when replacing the blade or cleaning the machine.

All activities of normal operation, cleaning and maintenance shall be carried out only after wearing appropriate devices for personal protection (protective gloves).

DANGER

DO NOT REPAIR, REGISTER, LUBRICATE OR CLEAN ANY MOVING PART

Ensure the supply cable is disconnected from the mains or the cardan is disconnected from the transmission shaft, before carrying out any cleaning on the machine.

DANGER Start the machine only after checking that all protection devices (blade guard, belt carter, various springs) are properly installed and functioning.

5.2 RISK OF EJECTION OF CUT MATERIAL This danger is present while the machine is running.

Clean the machine after every session, removing all splinters or debris which, over time, could cause malfunctions or be cause of danger.

5.3 RISKS OF INHALATION OF SUBSTANCES EMITTED WHILE OPERATING THE MACHINE This danger is present when the machine is running. The type of material being cut, the correct positioning and regulation of the devices for the extraction of powder/debris can substantially influence the amount of substances emitted.

DANGER Use the machine exclusively outdoors. It is strictly forbidden to use the machine indoors or in a closed environment.

You must operate the machine only when equipped with adequate devices for personal protection (protective screen).

5.4 RISKS RELATED TO NOISE

This danger is present when the machine is running. The type of blade and the appropriate maintenance of blades and saw can substantially determine the exposure to noise. The emission level of air-transmitted noise has been measured as prescribed in EN ISO 3744:1997 and found equal to a noise power of Lwa=109.4 dB during operation.

Use the machine only when equipped with adequate devices for personal protection (noise-reduction headset and, optionally, a breathing mask).

The values quoted are emission levels and do not necessarily represent safe operating levels. Although there is a correlation between emission levels and exposure, this cannot be applied to surely determine whether extra precautions are necessary. Factors which influence the actual level of exposure for manpower, include conditions of the environment where you operate, other sources of noise, etc, that is other machines or processes nearby. Also, the accepted level of exposure can vary from nation to nation. Still, this information allows the final user of this machine to better evaluate danger and risks involved.

5.5 RISK OF FIRE This danger is due to the presence of shavings and powders emitted while operating.

DANGER In order to avoid the risk of fire, regularly remove shavings and powders produced as you work. There should always be an extinguisher in the proximity of the machine.

5.6 GENERIC RISKS

Do not place hands, feet or other parts of your body in contact with moving parts of the machine. It is strictly forbidden to let untrained people use the machine. It is forbidden to use the machine to transport people and/or objects.

6 INSTALLING AND STARTING TO OPERATE THE MACHINE 6.1 PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS

•

Verify presence of accidental damages the machine has been subject to, during transport and/or movement: in such case, ask for our support to take care of the damages.

•

Verify that the blade protection has been properly installed, and that all blocking screws are well tightened.

DANGER Check that all screws are well tightened after 4 hours of operation. After that first period, check them every 50 hours.

6.2 GENERAL GUIDELINES

The machine must be sheltered from rain and any bad weather, and should not be used in environments with risk of explosion. Before changing any set-up on the machine, and at the end of each session, ensure that the cable is disconnected from the mains or that the PTO is not connected to the transmission shaft.

DANGER Ensure that trained personnel only is in near the machine.

Do not use scarves or ties

Wear only gear that is appropriate for the job: no loose ends or garments that could easily be caught in moving parts (scarves, ties or similar items)

DANGER Do not work in bad/insufficient lighting conditions.

ATTENTION Position logs to be processed and finished goods in the vicinity of the working area.

6.3 REGULATING THE MACHINE Before starting the machine, especially when using it for the first time or installing it in a new workplace, it is necessary to bear in mind some precautions and suggestions:

DANGER Install the machine on an even floor, horizontal if possible, and free of obstacles. If necessary, use a level to ensure the worktop is leveled horizontally.

DANGER Ensure that there is enough room around the machine to guarantee appropriate operations, depending on quantity and size of materials to work on.

ATTENTION If any mishap should occur, interrupt the work session immediately and follow the procedures of this manual strictly.

PRECAUTION The operator must never leave the machine unattended when it is switched on or operating.

PRECAUTION Verify that all protective screens are regularly and properly installed before using the machine and at the end of any maintenance operation.

DANGER

Check that the blade rotates in the direction indicated on the blade itself. Always make sure that blades are free of any obstruction to their movement before starting the machine.

6.3.1 STARTING TO OPERATE THE MODEL WORKING WITH ELECTRICY

If you use the machine on a building site, also connect to the earthing the supplementary external earth plug, present on one of the legs. 2

For such purpose, use a copper wire with a section not inferior to 16 mm and with the lug to be clamped on the machine terminal using a nut.

ATTENTION Do not connect the machine to the mains until the electric supply has been thoroughly tested to comply with current regulations. Verify that the electric network is compliant with the safety and power requirements of DLGs 46/90 and that : -

The earthing is present and working properly.

We recommend the presence of an RCD (Residual Current Device).

Connect the supply cable to the mains. Start the machine by pressing the thermo-magnetic switch. The starting system is protected against accidental starts due to tension coming back after an electric black-out. In such cases, it is necessary to start the motor again by pressing the green switch.

Single-phase machines: press green switch and contemporarily the white button for 4 seconds. Three-phase machines: by pressing the green switch , the motor starts and the machine is ready to work. By pressing red switch, motor is stopped and the blade will stop rotating within 10 seconds. You can bring the machine to an immediate halt by pressing the emergency- stop switch labeled stop. By pressing the green switch, the motor starts and the machine is ready to work. By pressing the red switch, the motor is stopped and the blade will stop rotating within 10 seconds. You can bring the machine to an immediate halt by pressing the emergency-stop switch labeled STOP.

DANGER Check periodically that the automatic braking devices are in full working order. 6.3.2 STARTING TO OPERATE THE MODEL WORKING WITH PTO In case of PTO saw bench, connect 3 points to the tractor lifter, by ensuring dedicated pivots and their blocking linchpin are inserted. Ensure the cardan shaft is fully inserted, connecting it to the power take-off of the actuator and the one on the machine. Increase the speed of the actuator and the PTO slowly, for example using the tractor clutch, not to damage any transmission. Once the job is completed, always disconnect the cardan from the PTO of the actuator. 3

DANGER Before starting, always ensure the machine is linked to tractor three points, by the dedicated pivots. Ensure these pivots are blocked by their blocking linchpin. Verify that the direction of rotation of the cardan shaft is the same as indicated inside the protection cover. Always ensure that the blades are free from any sort of hindrance before starting the actuator. Do not exceed the maximum rotation speed of the blade, as stated by the manufacturer.

ATTENTION - Check that the actuator of the machine is not moving when you are connecting/disconnecting the cardan shaft. - While carrying out a job, do not allow anyone to come close to the cardan or the actuator.

DANGER Never use properly sharpened blades or blades not fit for the material to be cut.

6.3.3 DISMANTLING AND REPLACING THE BLADE

DO NOT REPAIR, REGISTER, LUBRICATE OR CLEAN ANY MOVING PARTS

Ensure that the supply cable is disconnected from the mains, or that the shaft drive is not connected to the actuator shaft, before starting any cleaning operation on the saw.

Remove the external protection and any fastening element (screws, washers, etc.). Remove the return spring. Remove the piece-blocker and its fixings.

Remove any fixing element (bolts, nuts, etc, ) from the tilting worktop. Lift and remove the tilting worktop, avoiding contact with the blade.

Insert, in its home, the pivot blocking the rotation of the blade axis and unscrew the bolt fixing the blade, turning anti-clockwise. Remove the blunt blade, replacing it with a new one. Then, assemble all the parts of the saw, following in reverse order the procedure just described.

DANGER When assembling the tilting worktop, avoid contact with the blade teeth.

DANGER Use exclusively blades compliant with EN 847-1:1997, and only types expressly approved by Docma for specific use on saw Mod. TT600. Do not use blades whose diameter exceeds the maximum value approved.

ATTENTION Ensure that the shaft and the blade-tightening flanges are perfectly clean on the area in contact with the cutting disk.

6.3.4 REGULATING TENSION OF THE BELTS

To regulate the tension of the belts, you need to turn the nut shown in the picture on the right.

6.3.5 USING THE SAW

The operator must control the advance speed of the piece to be cut, bearing in mind its characteristics and the cutting depth, in order to avoid overloading the motor or damaging the edge of the blade too quickly.

DANGER Never push logs towards the blade while keeping your hands near the cutting area.

7 CLEANING THE MACHINE Clean the machine after every work session, proceeding with the removal of splinters and debris which could, over time, cause faults or danger.

ATTENTION Use, for the surrounding environment, the same care that you have with the machine.

DANGER To avoid the risk of fire, regularly remove wood shavings and powder generated during each cutting operation.

7.1 CLEANING THE BLADE Following the procedure described in 6.3.3, remove the protection guard. Remove any extra material that might have accumulated there, paying attention not to touch the blade. Put back every protection panel and fasten each screw tightly.

PRECAUTION Ensure that all guards and shields are securely and properly mounted before using the machine after the cleaning operation.

9 MAINTENANCE 9.1 PLANNED GENERAL MAINTENANCE

A regular maintenance of the machine, besides prolonging its life cycle, helps to guarantee more safety during operations.

Ensure that the electric cable is disconnected from the mains, or that the shaft drive is not connected to the actuator shaft, before starting any maintenance operation on the saw.

Regularly verify the wear of the blade and, if necessary, replace it by strictly following the procedure described in 6.3.3, paying attention to avoid sharp edges.

ATTENTION Regularly check that the bearings on the saw shaft are well lubricated.

9.2 – EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE

Proper use and observance of the maintenance guidelines presented in the previous paragraph, normally guarantee a prolonged utilization of the machine over time, in absolutely safe conditions. If the need to replace worn parts, or components that have been damaged in their functionality, should arise, it is paramount that the user contacts DOCMA technical support.

9.3 – STORING THE MACHINE

In the event of long periods of inactivity, keep the machine in an area sheltered from rain, only after carrying out the cleaning operations described in §7.

10 DEMOLITION OF THE MACHINE AND DISPOSAL The machine does not contain substances or materials which could pollute or be harmful for people. Therefore there are no particular directions regarding its disposal.

DANGER If you decide to dispose of the machine, remove the blades which, presenting a lot of very sharp edges, could be dangerous.
