PRINCESS MARGARET CANCER FOUNDATION Type: CORPORATE Client: Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Location: Toronto, ON Size: 55,000 s.f. Project Brief: TThe Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation had a vital mission for their new office: to create a work environment that reflects their passion and courage to conquer cancer in our lifetime. As part of this mission, the new space was to enable the team to collaborate and innovate to accelerate fundraising and serve as a platform to recruit and retain the best talent in fundraising. To do this, the design team focused on a number of key concepts throughout the design process: elements of nature, colour, pattern and flow. The design is carefully curated to take staff, partners and guests on a visual journey exploring wellness, creativity and movement. Careful placement of built-out spaces, offices and meeting rooms are intentionally detailed with glass to ensure natural lights shines through. Celebrating nature and life, the use of sustainable materials and biophilia are used, reflecting the energy and pace of the organization.

An activity-based approach promotes movement and supports a variety of tasks suited for individual needs. Split into “neighbourhoods”, flexible workstations provide an alternative to private rooms and offices which in turn, provide more space for each person. Defined pathways act as “sidewalks”, which connect the neighbourhoods to form a collaborative and cohesive network. The Smart Cancer Care CoDesign Lab was built for clinicians, designers, and patients to collaborate to redesign how the Foundation can effectively deliver care solutions, while also improving the patient experience.

The café acts as the central hub for staff to gather and interact throughout the day, and meeting rooms designed to open up into larger spaces so the Foundation can host town halls and staff celebrations.

SPACES - MONTREAL, QC Type: CORPORATE Client: SPACES (IWG plc.) Location: Montreal, QC Size: 31,725 s.f. Floors: Ground Project Brief: SPACES is a Dutch co-working brand owned by IWG plc. They have ventured into the North American market as competitors of WeWork. They aim to provide dynamic workspaces which are unique in their offering of co-working spaces by creating a warm, comfortable, yet professional environment. The aesthetic is unmistakably European in spirit and yet the design moulds itself to the local neighbourhood. The site is located in the Old Montreal. The building’s immediate neighbourhood has more contemporary architecture, an almost industrial feel within this old city. The finishes have been kept modern and that allows the signature SPACES aesthetic to fit within the location. We decided to play with the ceiling levels to create interest by adding a suspended feature.

My role was to create all working drawings and details, coordinate with various consultants, and to make sure the project meets client’s specifications. All renderings were outsourced

Montreal, Floor Plan The site wasn’t a unified interior. The floor plan was splintered into four quadrants because of the structure. The team focused on wayfinding by creating a separate floor plan just to make sure the signage was clear and intuitive. Meeting Room
