APPLE GARDEN VAL VENOSTAFOR NEARLY 60 YEARS.
Quality is not easily improvised. It’s obvious that the secure quality of Val Venosta apples is the result of decades of constant work. In the 1950s, the Val Venosta farmers discovered the richness of their valley and decided to take advantage of it. In the course of the time, the farmers were supported by the co-operatives and their work regarding cultivation and harvest - always in respect of nature - was facilitated by the use of sophisticated technologies. And quality will continue‌

1,750 farmers are united in seven fruit and vegetable co-operatives, linked by the traditions of the land but also by the ability to take advantage of the most modern technological support; this is the VI.P (the Val Venosta Co-operatives Association) in two words. This association is made up of small farms able to offer products of excellent quality, precisely because of their size. In order to guarantee the quality standard even as far as service is concerned, we have centralized sales (including organic fruit), marketing, quality control, administration, controlling and EDP. Today, Val Venosta is considered to be one of the best suppliers of quality fruit; its main products are apples, but also vegetables and strawberries are gaining importance.

VAL VENOSTA. THE FIRST IN EUROPE TO CREATE A QUALITY CYCLE. The Val Venosta quality cycle includes ten phases. Each phase is characterized by strict norms and severe controls: cultivation, harvest, delivery, storage, opening of the cells, selection, order, packaging, loading and delivery. Thanks to this precise and systematic control system the traceability of the products can be guaranteed from the single producer to the shelves.
Integrated production: nature above all. In Val Venosta, love for nature is not prepared to compromise. Every cultivation phase is characterized by the protection of the environment which is reflected in more security for the consumer. Parasites are either destroyed by their natural enemy, the harsh climate, or by a special method which was developed by the Val Venosta farmers and which supports the perfect ecological balance: integrated production. The idea of integrated production consists in the use of beneficial insects in the apple orchards for fighting against pests. For this reason, the ladybird was chosen as the symbol of this special cultivation method. Only if the method of integrated production fails in the fight against pests, chemical substances are used. Their use, however, is minimized as much as possible in order to protect the environment, the apples and the consumer so that you can carelessly eat Val Venosta apples with the peel, which contains most of the nutrients. Integrated production can therefore be seen as a guarantor for a healthy, good and beneficial product.

GUARANTEED SECURITY AND ORIGIN.
Secure advantages of the pgi designation. Since June 2005, eleven of the apple varieties cultivated in South Tyrol have been able to boast the precious PGI designation (Protected Geographical Indication). This designation is awarded by the European Union and guarantees security and genuineness on the one hand and products cultivated according to local traditions and characterized by the typical high quality of this area of origin on the other hand. A Val Venosta apple can therefore also boast being a South Tyrolean apple PGI. If you buy a Val Venosta apple, you choose a product from an area that is particularly suitable for the production of apples and an apple that was cultivated according to traditional methods without disdaining the support of modern technologies and that was controlled by an independent body according to severe and welldefined European regulations.
