Un hombre de 21 años de edad, identificado como Elqui René Corrales, de origen Nicaragüense, fue apuñalado hasta la muerte, alrededor de las 7:45 de la mañana del domingo en el bloque 4600 de la calle Clara en el UpTown de New Orleans. Aunque por el momento se desconocen los motivos de la pelea, al parecer la víctima y el agresor se conocían, una vecina Erin Leggett, explicó que el agresor salió gritando en español, pidiendo que llamaran a la policía porque había matado a su amigo, después de llamar a la policía, la vecina se acercó y encontró a la víctima herida en el suelo. Los paramédicos lo trasladaron al hospital donde murió poco más tarde. Un tío de la víctima Ramón Corrales, lo identificó y explicó que era pintor de casas y que hacía 2 años que se había trasladado de Nicaragua a Nuevo Orleans, también confirmó que los 2 eran conocidos. El agresor sigue fugitivo y el caso permanece bajo investigación.

En el caso del accidente ocurrido en la interestatal 10 cerca de la Place el pasado 28 de agosto cuando un autobús, en el que viajaban más de 30 personas se estrelló contra unos autos accidentados y un camión de bomberos que los estaban socorriendo, y en el que fallecieron dos personas en el interior de un auto y del jefe de bomberos de St. John Baptist Spencer Chauvin, las pruebas periciales realizadas al autobús revelan que no fallaron los frenos. El conductor del autobús, un hombre de origen hondureño, Denis Amaya-Rodríguez, de 37 años de edad, dijo a los investigadores que intentó frenar, pero fallaron, incluyendo el freno de emergencia. MURDER ENDS UP IN SUICIDE A woman’s murder in her own home has impacted the city of Lafayette. 27-year-old Katrina Broussard was killed at the 317 Guilbeau Rd, it happened allegedly at the hands of her ex-boyfriend after a domestic dispute. POR: GLORIA ZAMBRANO PANAMÁ VIEJO O PANAMÁ LA VIEJA Las ruinas de Panamá Vieja es el nombre que recibe el sitio arqueológico donde estuvo ubicada la ciudad de Panamá desde su fundación en 1519, hasta 1671. La ciudad fue trasladada a una nueva ubicación, unos 10 km al suroeste, al quedar destruida tras un ataque del pirata inglés Henry Morgan, a comienzos de la década de 1670. De la ciudad original, considerada como el primer asentamiento europeo en la costa pacífica de América, quedan hoy varias ruinas que conforman este sitio arqueológico. Mudarnos a otro país puede resultar agobiante, principalmente por acostumbrarte a las nuevas actividades.

Moving to a different country can be overwhelming, mainly because you must get used to your new activities.

Debes conocer las costumbres, leyes, direcciones. Por ejemplo, te das cuenta que ya no saludas con un beso o abrazo, que organizas antes de ir visitar a tus amigos, que la comida puede resultar distinta, que tu tiempo no parece suficiente, y que debes aprender otro idioma.

You should learn the traditions, laws, addresses. For example, you don’t know if you should say hi with a kiss or hug, now you need to call before you visit, food tastes different, you have to learn a new language and your time feels shorter than before. It can be harder if you don’t know where to start.

Todo puede resultar más difícil si no sabes donde comenzar.

What is the most important step? Having a start point. Get an agenda to help you be organized, make a list of things to do from learning that new language, finish moving, check schools for the kids, have job interviews, etcetera.

Short term goals are the most important because they will make you feel proud by achieving them faster. Get informed about all types of insurance needed in the new place, have different options and mainly, have somebody you trust educate you in the specific topic. Remember how important it is to get used to your new home. This does not mean you will leave behind your roots, but understanding that we cannot impose in the new country that is welcoming you with a new set of opportunities. ¡Espero que todos hayan disfrutado de Mardi Gras! El 20 de Marzo damos comienzo a la primavera así que, debemos disfrutar de los lindos parques y claro está de los espectaculares festivales también. Como siempre les doy una pequeña lista de mis festivales preferidos pero, también les voy a hablar de algunos parques. Uno de los más populares es Girard Park por sus áreas verdes y el área de los niños y no podemos olvidar alimentar a los respectivos patos. Además hay otros parques en el área como Acadiana Park y Heymann Park. Si estás buscando algo en las afueras de Lafayette esta Palmetto State Park en Abbeville que tiene una área excelente con chorritos de agua para los niños. ¡Espero que puedan disfrutar del rico clima con sus familias!!!! March 20th marks the beginning of Spring so we should go out there and enjoy what the city has to offer, we have great parks and amazing festivals around town during that time. As usual I am giving you a list of my favorite festivals and this time I will also mention a few words about some local parks. One of the most popular ones would have to be Girard Park because of the areas and playgrounds and we can’t forget about the ponds where we get to feed the ducks. There are also a few others like Acadiana Park and Heymann Park. If you are interested in something outside Lafayette you can check out Palmetto State Park in Abbeville that has a great water park area for the kids. El restaurant fue inaugurado el 4 de Noviembre del 2015. En Octubre recibimos el premio de estar entre los 5 mejores nuevos restaurantes del 2016 Es un negocio familiar. Somos 4 dueños: Mi hermano, Edgardo Padrón, ingeniero mecánico , su esposa, Mónica Luis, administradora , Ricardo Angulo mi esposo, cocinero profesional y Johana Padrón psicólogo. Tenemos influencia de nuestras dos nacionalidades, somos venezolanos y europeos (mi hermano y yo tenemos padres venezolanos e italianos y mi cuñada, padres españoles y es por eso que creamos un restaurant estilo Europeo, específicamente francés pero fusionándolo con el paladar de Louisiana, en consecuencia tenemos crêpes que no se conseguirian en Francia como por ejemplo “La Alfredo”, con pollo, tocineta, champiñones y salsa Alfredo, “La Seafood” elaborada con Corn and Crab bisque, La Etouffe con crawfish hecha con recetas propias de Louisiana , la mediterranean con pollo, aceitunas negras, cebolla morada, tomate y humus. Hola, mi nombre es Colby y soy la contribuyente de salud y bienestar para Nosotrus. Antes de comenzar nuestro nuevo viaje juntos, me gustaría contarles un poco sobre mí. Crecí en el Sur, con la comida siendo una parte muy importante para mí y para la cultura de mi familia; Todavía hoy vemos comida en festivales y servida en grandes cantidades en las reuniones de vacaciones. A pesar de estar rodeados de todos estos alimentos ricos pero con altos niveles de grasa, mi familia siempre optó por hacerlos más saludables, preparando comidas deliciosas. También fuimos muy activos como una familia; Desde las lecciones de baile y tenis, hasta la práctica del fútbol y los partidos de baloncesto, la rutina de ejercicio de mi familia me ayudó a entender la importancia de hacer ejercicio para nuestra salud. Desde que era adolescente, sabía que quería ayudar al mundo a ser más saludable. Por lo tanto, obtuve una licenciatura en Biología en la Universidad de Louisiana en Lafayette donde realicé atletismo y cross country. Pronto descubrí mi deseo de ayudar a mis abuelos con su dieta y salud en general, y luego me di cuenta de lo que es mi pasión y emoción por ayudar a otros en el Sur de Louisiana para llegar a un estilo de vida más saludable y que si pueden lograr. Actualmente soy un entrenadora personal certificada de aeróbicos y estoy inspirada en convertirme en un dietista registrada muy pronto. Hi, my name is Colby and I’m the new health and wellness contributor for Nosotrus. Before we start our new journey together, I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in the South, with food being a very big part of me and my family’s culture; Still today we see food at festivals and served in large quantities at holiday gatherings. Despite being surrounded by all these rich and buttery foods, my family always chose to instead make them healthy, delicious meals. We were also always very active as a family; from dance and tennis lessons, to soccer practice and basketball games, my family’s fitness routine helped me understand the importance of exercising for our health. Since I was a teenager, I knew I wanted to help the world become healthier. So, I got a degree in Biology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and ran track and cross country. I soon discovered my desire to help my grandparents with their diet and overall health- and then came to realize what passion and excitement I had in helping others in the South and Louisiana get to the healthiest lifestyle that they can achieve. I am a currently a certified personal fitness trainer and am aspiring to become a registered dietician soon. That said, my goal is to help motivate and educate you on how to keep improving your overall health in your everyday diet, exercise, and your desire to stay healthy. See you at the starting line!

PELICAN CUP

Todos los años nuestro club ofrece la Pelican Cup en febrero, y este año fue una gran copa. 80 equipos de varias partes del estado y fuera de estado asistieron, y tuvimos equipos de la misma academia de Houston que vinieron a participar. Nuestros equipos de Dynamo representaron muy bien, llegando a cuartos de finales, y ganando 2 de ellas. Las muchachas de 15 años y las muchachas de 11 ganaron en sus respectivos grupos, mientras que los varones de 15 y 14 perdieron en la final contra LA Fire en penales. ¡Fue un gran fin de semana para el fútbol!

LIGA DE ADULTOS 8 CONTRA 8

Nuestra liga de adultos de 8 contra ocho está por empezar este mes y Tampicos FC y Walking Dead van a tener una dura batalla para mantener el título. Con más de 18 equipos listos para tomar el campo esta temporada va a ser ¡una de las más grandes! Si desean información para poder registrarse por favor contáctame lo más pronto posible.

JUGADORES DYNAMO DEL MES

Este mes fue el comienzo de nuestra temporada, y 2 jugadores de nuestro club sobresalieron en sus equipos. Por los varones fue Townes Wallace de los varones de 14, teniendo más de 6 asistencias y 10 goles en un mes, Townes lideró su equipo a la final de la Pelican Cup, perdiendo desafortunadamente en penales. Por las muchachas Brinnslee Picard de 11 años, recibiendo su primer trofeo en la Pelican Cup, lideró a su equipo a una victoria de 3-0 en la final anotando dos goles y asistiendo uno. Felicitaciones a Townes y Brinnslee, ¡Dynamo está orgulloso de tenerlos en el club! 28

PELICAN CUP

Every year our club hosts the pelican cup on February, and this year it was one for the record books. 80 teams from all over the state and outside of the state participated. Houston dynamo academy brought in some teams as well. Our teams had a great showing with 4 teams making it to the finals and 2 of them emerging champions. Our u15 girls and u11 girls won both their respective age groups with our u14 and u15 boys coming up short by losing both on pk shoutout. It was a great weekend of fĂştbol!

ADULT 8V8 LEAGUE

Our 8v8 adult league is beginning this month and Tampicos fc and walking dead will have a tough road ahead of them. With 18 teams ready to take the field, this promises to be one of the best seasons yet. Good luck to both defending champions! If you need information or would like to join please contact me ASAP!

DYNAMO PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

This month was the beginning of our spring season here at dynamo, and we had 2 players chosen for players of the month. From the boys side Townes Wallace from the u14 boys, having 6 assists and over 10 goals in the first month, Townes lead his team to the pelican cup final, coming up short to those dreadful penalty shoutouts. From the girls, Brinslee Picard from our u11 girls team. Brinslee led her team to their first pelican cup win, battling it out like a champion in the final scoring 2 out of their 3 goals and getting an assist. Congratulations to Townes and Brinslee! Dynamo juniors is proud to have players like you in the club!
