The 2021-22 ski season enjoyed improvements in our facilities, slope expansion, and major technology. We are excited to report several of the planned improvements and slope expansions are ready for the 2022-23 ski season.

RFID Ticketing – Introduced in the 2021-22 ski season, this new technology allows owners and guests to book their slope-use tickets online, check-in via kiosk, skip long ticket lines, and hit the slopes when you are ready. Your RFID card will work for the whole season or just the days you choose. It’s a great way to plan your snow sports adventure and find available discounts!

The beauty of every season at Massanutten. Think snow!

Three New Trails – This season is when the real excitement begins with the addition of three new trails - Mueller’s Mile, rated “More Difficult”, Ridgecrest, rated “More Difficult”, and the Slot, rated “Most Difficult”. All will open for the 2022-23 season and will be accessible by the Peak Express lift.

50 HKD low energy guns and 6 automated fan snowmakers last year and will install 52 additional automated low energy HKD KLIK guns, 22 TechnoAlpin guns, and 8 SMI fan guns on existing and new terrain over the next two years. All new terrain will feature automated low energy air, water, or fan snowmaking technology.

LED Lighting – The resort is also adding LED lighting fixtures to the new terrain and will begin replacing existing metal halide lights with LED lighting. The lighting project will save 41,000 kwh hours a year.

Ski Patrol Area Renovation – This renovation featured much needed equipment updates, treatment beds, skier service area, and employee lockers. Ski Patrol provides emergency services, snow sports safety education, and slope monitoring.

Mid-Mountain re-design and updates gives you more hang-time on the slopes.

Mid-Mountain Grill – Located at the base of the Peak Express lift, this is the place where the chowder meets the powder. Mid-Mountain Grill also offers three permanent restrooms.

Join us at the owners only Summit Club for coffee and hot chocolate.

The Summit Club – The new owner’s only lounge was relocated to the top floor of the ski lodge. Stylishly redesigned, the Summit Club offers concierge service, complimentary beverages – coffee and hot chocolate, and features the best views of the ski area.

High-Speed Quad Lift – The 2023-24 season will see the installation of a new high-speed detachable quad lift to replace the Peak Express lift. A new “More Difficult” trail, Ridgecrest, and a new double black diamond “Extreme Difficulty” trail, No Hessitation under the lift will open for the 2023-24 season.

Exciting as all that is, we are still not done yet with summer of 2024 seeing two additional “More Difficult” trails, with one connecting Paradice to Mass Transit and another trail from the Ridge Triple lift.

This is all part of a 3-year expansion project that has included 6 new trails and replacing a 30-year-old fixed grip lift with a high-speed quad lift in the summer of 2023. Click here for more info on our ski terrain expansion!

Looking forward to more 2023 celebrations including the 50th year of snow sports operations and the Snow Moon Festival. Find out more at Massanutten Resort - 50th Celebration (massresort.com)
