Taking precautions on site to get CENTRAL QUEENSLAND BUILDER, AARON FLANAGAN IS YOUNG AND AMBITIOUS, ALWAYS SOAKING UP KNOWLEDGE AND NEW SKILLS.

Construction Skills Queensland and Master Builders courses have made this possible for the 25-year-old the job doneIt’s so important to business owner. Aaron started AF Construction three years ago and the business has grown from strength to strength. Based in Rockhampton, the team specialises in residential and commercial projects. Aaron and two of his staff recently completed the Master Builders Asbestos Worker Program. “The boys now understand what needs to be done to take the right precautions around it (asbestos),” he said. The Asbestos Worker Program provides the skills and training required to legally remove more than 10m2 of non-friable asbestos. The two-day course includes the asbestos removal process, decontamination and using documentation in line with regulatory requirements. “It’s so important to upskill and we always try and get the most out of Master Builder’s training courses,” he said. upskill and we always try and get the most out of Master Builder’s training courses Aaron said this was not the first course where he took advantage of CSQ funding, and it was very easy to apply. “The course was easy and has come in handy. We try to upskill the boys and show we are proactive. “We’re always trying to do better, make our job easier and do the best job we can,” he said. Aaron believes actions speak louder than words and ensures he takes the time to be hands-on with his apprentices to teach them how the work is done. Aaron was awarded the Rising Star title at the Central Queensland Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards in August.
