YOU MAY NEED TO KNOW!BACKFLOW REVALIDATION1 TRAINING INFORMATION

The backflow prevention revalidation is required for all plumbers and provisional plumbers who need to renew the backflow endorsement on their plumbing licence. The revalidation is required to be successfully completed every five years to maintain the backflow endorsement on your licence.

MPAQ delivers an approved, online backflow prevention revalidation that is required for all plumbers who need to renew the backflow endorsement on their plumbing licence.

How do I revalidate my backflow endorsement?

Enrol in Backflow Prevention Revalidation at www.mpaq.com.au/training. Once you have completed your Backflow Prevention Revalidation successfully, you will need to provide a certified copy of your certificate to QBCC along with photo identification. You must also complete Form 24 – application for an endorsement. Form 24 can be found at www.qbcc.qld.gov.au/resources/form.

This form is also sent to you via email along with your certificate once you have completed your Backflow Prevention Revalidation successfully.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A FULL GAS WORK LICENCE IN QUEENSLAND

Students wishing to progress from an interim gas licence to a full gas licence in Queensland are required to complete four Certificate IV competencies while their interim gas licence is still valid. Please see further information below: • You must have completed a Certificate III in Plumbing or Certificate III in Gas Fitting within the last 12 months to apply for an interim gas licence. • Must apply for an interim gas licence issued by the Resources, Safety and Health Queensland. • If you don’t already have an interim gas licence and wish to apply for an interim gas licence, please contact the Resources, Safety and Health Queensland office on 07 3330 4249 or email gaslicence@rshq.qld.gov.au for further information about licensing.

The four required certificate IV units are outlined below. CHANGES TO THE PLUMBING TRAINING PACKAGE

On 27 November 2020, the new CPC Construction, Plumbing, and Services training package was released and has superseded the previous versions.

The most notable changes that have affected the plumbing industry are regarding post-trade training courses like Backflow Prevention and Thermostatic Mixing Valves. These courses now require pre-requisite units to be completed prior to undertaking the Certificate IV units to gain an endorsement on an occupational plumbing licence. This may not affect everyone who has completed a Certificate III in Plumbing previously, but older qualifications completed before 2013 may be affected and require the undertaking of the prerequisite units identified below prior to the training required for the endorsement.
