From the Studio celebrates ‘the studio’ as a site of learning and creativity and as an important location on an artist’s creative journey. Throughout time, ‘the studio’ has seen an artist’s assistants and technicians turn artists themselves in a creative continuum of learning and training. In today’s arts education climate, this model is as relevant today as it was in history. From the studio centres around the studio of glass blower Luke Jacomb and not only looks at the makers his studio has fostered but also highlights the global network of studios and the constant creative exchange that occurs as artists travel, visit and work in each other’s studios across the world. For From the studio we have focused on more recent artists linked to Luke's studio as well as recent visitors, but this is just a glimpse of a much larger web of artist friendships.
