DECEMBER
It's hard to believe 2013 is coming to
a close. We're pleased as punch to be finishing the year with fashion designer Whitney Pozgay and her dapper husband, Parker Agote, gracing our cover. From a vintage tinsel tree to a mean Campari cocktail, the duo loves to spruce up their Brooklyn abode for the holidays. Thank you, Whitney and Parker, for helping us finish the year on a high note. Continuing our love of all things festive, this issue also includes a holiday party we hosted with our friends at Vineyard Vines, a chat with the 10

ith a tip of a top hat Marlene Dietrich could have the world stirring. The smouldering screen icon was born Maria Magdalene Dietrich in 1901 in what is now Berlin, Germany. As a young girl she practiced violin and dreamed of becoming a concert pianist, but eventually suffered a wrist injury and caught the acting bug. Despite her family’s disapproval, she enrolled in drama school and began landing minor roles in German films. Around this time she decided to go by Marlene, a combination of her first and middle names. Early in her career Dietrich met Rudolf Sieber, a film producer, and got hitched. In 1924 they had their first and only child, a little girl named Maria. Though Marlene and Rudolf eventually separated, they would never file for 24

DREAMING OF A
whit CHRISTMAS
Whitney Pozgay, the fashion maven behind the brand WHIT, is serious about Christmas. IT'S EARLY NOVEMBER WHEN WE ARRIVE AT THE WILLIAMSBURG APARTMENT SHE SHARES WITH HER HANDSOME HUBBY, PARKER AGOTE, AND IT'S ALREADY FULL OF FESTIVE TOUCHES. HER EYES LIGHT UP WHEN SHE TALKS ABOUT QUIRKY STOCKING STUFFERS AND HOLIDAY GREENERY – IN OTHER WORDS, SHE'S OUR KINDA GAL. A NATIVE OF ARIZONA, WHITNEY EARNED HER SPURS AT KATE SPADE AND STEVEN ALAN BEFORE LAUNCHING HER OWN LINE IN 2010. KNOWN FOR ITS CLASSIC DESIGNS WITH A HINT OF FANCY, WHIT'S COLORFUL PIECES ARE WHAT MATCHBOOK DREAMS ARE MADE OF. PARKER WHIPPED UP A BATCH OF COCKTAILS WHILE WE CHATTED WITH WHITNEY ABOUT ALL THINGS HOLIDAY CHEER.
