COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN ARCHITECTURE


• Create multiple points and set them in grasshopper. • Then in mesh tab is called voronoi that will create the non intesecting bubble effect. A slider is added to control the radius


• A bounding box will create the edges (surface, bounding box) • For single unified box insert bolean toggle (Params) • Finally to extract the edges use (Surface,Analysis,Brep Components)


• Use join to join the extracted edges (Curve,Join) • Create an offset curve and a slider to regulate the distance from the original box (Curve,Offset) (will be use to define the inner perimeter of the rectangle box)


• Extrude the curve (Surface,Extrude) in Z direction (UnitZ) and then cap the holes (Double click,Cap Holes) this will close the box • Connect the cap holes to the voronoi, and now the box is ready to be used as the voronoi limit



• Create a new offest curve from each voronoi polyon (Curve,Offset) • Set a slider to adjust the distance, with negative value to offset in the inside


• Extract polygon control points (Curve,Analysis,Control Polygon) • Create curve with the extracted control points (Curve,Curve), and add a slider to control the degree of the curve



• Create a new offset component (will be used to define the outer perimeter of the rectangle box) and connect it with the join command of the joined extracted edges in the beginning. Put a slider to control the offset • Extrude this new rectangle created with the last offset together with the curve created in part 6 with the extracted control points • Extrude in z direction and control the height with a slider



• Last step is to cap both the regions and to use the solid difference that will extract one part from the other. It is important to flatten the b part or the cap that fills the curves.




• Change of voronoi optical cell radius


• Change of the inner box wall offset, letting the voronoi arches free


• Change of the outer box wall offset


• Change of the height


• Moving the points manually
