Studio Beta A Pleasure Garden

The Garden of the Quiet Voice In Studio Beta, we explore the potential of using the form (figure-ground drawings) & the notion of the field to create architecture & landscape.
Melbourne School of Design featured :
2019 . Year 2 - Semester 1
The initial concept of my project is to create a space for knowledge, reflection & serenity, aiming to create such a space that people will be able to quiet down & find peace within the noisy world. Inspiration was taken from the Japanese traditional living practice - Zen. A word that cannot be simply explained through any physical form; it is all about the experience, the senses & the soul. Representing it architecturally with the hierarchy of space, materiality, visual connection, plantation, e.t.c. - And that is the Garden of the Quiet Voice

Overexposure & Underexposure The way we experience our world has become empty & fragile due to technology development. Its speed & the invasive gesture of it has made people’s lives somehow harder rather than easier - a phenomenon /an accident of technological development. Studio platform featured :
This library stands as a statement to go against the faults & mistakes of technological development, particularly the false & mistreated information & its consequences. This library stands as an entity of balance between people, knowledge & technology.
2020 . Year 3 - Semester 1

It is a concept of a vertical village, an architecture that makes a tribute to the history/original idea of co-housing while addressing a modern-day issue - “isolated self.” It is about cultivating the concept of a “non-nuclear family” and, by all means, aim to encourage & celebrate different physical & social interactions within the community... Own social media platform :
X - meaning Generation X, that is the era when the original idea of co-housing was first introduced in Denmark. + - representing a modern days issue, the “isolated self.”

Melb - ReJuvenation A Melbourne Affordable Hhousing Challenge
Contribution to the project : Concept development & drawings Drawing list: • Sectional perspective rendering • Floor plans • Adaptable diagram • Panel layout • Construction detail Group members : Kelly, YuTong Jin David, YuPeng Gao
The Manifesto The “Melbourne Rejuvenation” housing project is to provide a solution, using the idea of a “Firsthand” & “Hands-on” building process to address the issue of Melbourne’s unaffordable housing. It is all about the collaboration of people & stakeholders from “ALL” sectors involved.
The GOAL is to :
_
• Promote an idea of a “growing architecture.” A piece of spatial art that is constantly evolving every second within the ‘Mel-Rejuvenation”. And by all the means, encouraging different social, communal & individual activity.
• Reduce building cost & at the same time push the boundary of architectural constructibility – featuring half a frame (build your own house!!) with cranes work installed on site.
: generate profit for family
• Introduce a sense of character & belonging for each resident, of which everyone can be specifically chosen, customized, and MAKE!! As per their like, habit & interest.
Concept Diagram
• Express a collaborative spirit between each stakeholder, from builders, architects & tenants.

Adaptability
We strongly believe that the “Mel-Rejuvenation” can be used as an example for Australia and the world to understand that vernacular, comfort, culture & lifestyle can be blended & achieved with affordability through the negotiation, exchanging of ideas & collaboration of all man kinds.

EXTREME Architecture - Symunity The studio EXTREME deals with integral design in extreme environments. The goal of this approach is to make the students conscious of their technical and architectural design choices.
Studio platform featured :
2021 . MSc 1 - Autumn Studio
As for this year, the students are asked to design a sustainable farm on Sint Maarten for Spaceless Gardens, where the island is prone to natural hazard & extreme weather condition such as seasonal hurricanes (as strong as Class 5) and strong wind. Symmetry & Unity - it’s a concept of embracing both ends of the extremeness and creating something in between, as a “bridge” in the middle to achieve balance; a communal project that seeks balance, resilience, and sustainability development for the people of Sint Maarten.
