Para el pueblo This project in Chile is a global thinking based on the relation between people, nature and the society. The wetland should be a place for everyone. Indeed the possibility to escape from the city, to find a place in the nature, to think, have a rest, is essential for the society for the mental health. The ability to maintain and live around a fragile territory is a sign of capacity and good organization of a society. The question is the difficult relation between the common and the private interest. Now the situation is complex. The city grows to the wetland direction, people use the site as a dumping place, and nature is destroyed. We discovered during the analysis phase, that the main problem is the perception of the wetland. Considering as the end of the city, the consequences are destructions, privatizations ... Most of them are located on the edges. The problem is the relation between architecture and the nature, how this interaction can create a unique place. The goal of the project is to change the perception of the wetland to create a productive place, productive in a sense that it gives something for the society: places for sensibilization, for food production, to live and for experience the landscape. In order to give human places to live, the project proposes different kind of social housing. The project answers to the economic situation by a thinking on the minimal habitation. People have the possibility to extend the habitation. Appropriation involve a physical modification, people are free to define new relation with the street, neighbor’s. The first area works as a park, he is already protect and some action have been done, It should stay in the same condition By Mathieu follic french student

The second space could introduce a new relation between farmers, wetland, and population.

The third area should profited from the urbanization to define new limits and control the grow of the city

relation to the nature The propose of the project is to start to define the edges of the wetland by agriculture field, public space, garden... Indeed the city grows without consideration for the nature. The wetland is now considering as the main element it’s the beginning of the urbanization. A path starts from the hill to the city then to the other side of the wetland. The project is a transversal work from the nature to the city. The housing buildings are organized around some field everyone will be very closed to the nature. The creation of two watercourses helps to create new border. The expansion of the city is control by some free lands, indeed is much easier to build next to a road and some other building. The city will grow in the other direction and make more coherence

View from the bridge. After one hundred meters, people arrive next to the market. It’s possible to see the hills in the background. a promenade start along the banks of the river, the path is compose by a series of different public space which propose different experiences.

Public building This building located near the camping area is design for the local people. The proposal is a mix of different functions for agriculture, educational and cultural. Is composed of a big storage area for agriculture workers: trucks, machines...160 m2, a workshop 70 m2 for the formation and awareness of the children, one Greenhouse 55m2, exposition for artist or concerning the wetland 80m2. a garden 100m2 From the end a path cross the forest and arrive next to wetland, the path go up and begin a place to enjoy the point of view. Some wall for the facades are thick, they are composed of a structural wall in concrete and a skin in local blue stones or old brick found on the site.

Typology : the house This house of 56 square meters is composing by a concrete volume and a structure in wood. The concrete allows the gain of thermo masse; the wood structure is cheap and flexible. Two spaces don’t have a real define function; people will decide what kind of function they want to put inside or if they want to remove this space. Four people can live there, they have some transitory bedroom, they can build new one when they have the money, and remove the olds one, this have for consequence to create a new living room. These houses are organized on one floor, the scale is quite small, human.

Typology : the studio The project is a studio for one or two persons. Organized with the same module as the house, this studio is optimized to give the maximum of different quality of space. Here also some places are defined for a future extension. The studio could become a store or a house... A concrete wall receive the heat by the sun, the temperature is preserve by the glass, The wall on the side is composed with a wood structure and 6cm of wood hood, a cheap and efficient material. The floor is raised to protect from inundation, to allow the move of the animals. It’s also a way to minimize the violence of the intervention.

Typologie : intermediate This typology of housing is composed by many units based on the same module. The intention is to give a base to build, to make a safe habitation. Indeed more than a house it’s a strong roof and a stable floor. People start from 56 m2 to 180 m2 maximal. They have the possibility to define their relation with the public space neighbor’s. They can also create a large variety of space for example, a store or a greenhouse on the roof....The possibility to change our house makes it become home. I don’t know a lot about the Chilean culture, make a flexible project is my answer, indeed people knows absolutely better than me what they really need. The project is just a base for a diversity of history.

mental representation

View from the terrasse of a studio, people can enjoy the nice weather, and observe the landscape.

The way how the buildings are organized allows the creation of a contrast with nature. Here the sensation is more urban, people make some modification on the buildings, define the relation between each other’s.
