KLAKSVÍKAR BÓKASAVN GROUP WORK
Klaksvíkar Bókasavn is a gathering place to connect the community through knowledge sharing, individual learning and innovation. The library is bounded in the traditional mentality of the Faroe Islands, where care, cooperation and solidarity is encouraged as a way of driving the community towards a sustainable development. A creative workshop is the central place where visitors can inspire each other. From here, knowledge radiates out, and structural beams
and bookcases help drive this directionality and lead people outwards in search of information. To help foster the individual’s desire for knowledge, the library plays on the duality of quiet contemplation and social interaction. This is evident in the layering of the zones, where contemplation spaces are located furthest from the centre, as a place of intimacy, while social spaces break down boundaries to foster meetings and interactions between different users.

ADRIAN CARTERS VEJ 15 INDIVIDUAL WORK
This single-family house was designed to hold a family of four. The aim of the design was to create comfortable and open social spaces, as well as private rooms, within a limited floor area. The kitchen opens up to a western terrace, sheltered from wind, open to the afternoon and evening sun. Upstairs are the two children’s rooms, with access to the western balcony, as well as the living
room with windows to three sides, creating a light and open atmosphere. The western slope of the roof creates a balanced transition from the garden to the house, ensuring that the house seems lower and more in human scale at this angle. The horizontal wooden façade grounds the building, making it seem lower and less compact, but also gives the house a natural and soft appearance.

ESTĂšDIO EM SINES INDIVIDUAL WORK
In the rocky landscape of Portugal’s westcoast, close to the city of Sines, lies this studio and home for an artist. The building is lowered into the landscape and the warm color and texture of the concrete compliments the tones and lines of the surroundings. This creates a visual and physical integration between the building and the landscape. Inside, the warm color of the chestnut wood
warms the spaces, softening the appearance of the concrete. The big, western windows bring in the views of the far-stretched ocean and create a strong connection between inside and outside. The studio-space have northern views of the coastline which enables the artist to be inspired by the relationship between coast, water and sky, as well as the changing weather and seasons.

FOREST RETREAT INDIVIDUAL WORK
Between the trees of Hammer Bakker, in the hills surrounding Pebermosen lies this quaint little cabin, designed as a space for focus and contemplation. The cabin was constructed in the wood that was cut down to make space for it, and the soil and grass excavated is moved to the roof, to ensure complete integration into the site. The vertical wood lamellas tie in to the surrounding trees, creating the
impression of a forest in the play of light and shadows on the two terraces. The focus of the design was to create an off-grid building, which produces its own electricity from PV panels, and exploits the rainwater collected from the roof, making it completely self-sufficient. Additionally, the cabin should incorporate a comfortable work-area with plenty of light and a comfortable indoor climate.

THE SANCTUARY GROUP WORK
The Sanctuary is a place designed to be an environment of safety, comfort and laughter for children. Its elegant form with minutely composed functions and spaces of diverse characters creates a built environment focusing on tackling the dreadful past of abused children in informal and playful surroundings. The entirety of the building becomes a healing aspect in itself, from the circular shape to the well composed functions of both private and se-
mi-public atmospheres. The playful elements continue in the expression of the building with the displaced windows composing a dynamic faรงade, where the inner courtyard of the centre becomes an element of visual connection and becomes part of the nature. The building lands in a horizontal landscape, framing vistas of great variety emphasizing the use of nature as an element of the healing process, both actively and as an element of pure therapeutic views.

SIEMENS SQUARE GROUP WORK
Creating an office building for Siemens the goal was to design an open workspace, enabling easy communication between employees, but to also focus on temporary workstations in the design. The main focus of the design was on creating a good work environment, both in terms of the indoor climate and the layout of the work spaces, where the internal load-bearing
grid enables more flexibility in the faรงade and helps divide the spaces comfortably. The design of the three boxes tied together by the external grid creates a visual representation of the three key values of Siemens, all tied together with the architecture. The grid also relates to the internal grid, where this, as well as the glass entrance to the building, creates the appearance of transparency.

AALBORG NEW THEATRE GROUP WORK
Designing a new theater for Aalborg, focused largely on the integration of a new building within the historical site of Aalborg Spritfabrik, where the meeting between the old and the new was vital in the design. Creating comfortable spaces for both the employees, the artists and the visitors, and creating the background for artistic expression, were all key factors in the design. Here, the indoor climate
and the architectonic expression of the construction led the design towards the final proposal. With the artistic and dynamic wooden wall facing the old building, the wall becomes the symbol of the theatrical curtain, the barrier between reality and fantasy. The wall thus becomes the tension field in the building, where the space is the transition between the old and traditional, to the new and artistic.

The idea was to create a duality in the design, creating an area with focus on nature and another with focus on culture, tying the two together with the pedestrian bridge. Here, the two main buildings of the area, the hotel and the culture house, would become the landmark for each their island.

Designing this new and lively area on the northern side of Limfjorden focused on tying in the old with the new, ensuring that the flowlines and the lines of the landscape were continued. Redesigning an urban space in the center of Aalborg focused on the idea of maintaining the different flowlines to, from and through the site. The two arches add an organic element to the otherwise traditional and geometric buildings of the context, and also strengthen the connection to the water, just meters away. The goal was to create the visual of the two thin waves, covered in greenery
both above and below, adding the feeling of nature to the center of the city. The arches lift off the ground in places of heavy pedestrian flow, in order to create more intimate spaces at the site away from the heavy flow of people. Benches are scattered around the site, both on the ground and integrated into the arches to add spaces for rest, where one can distance oneself from everyday life.

NORDIC CUBE GROUP WORK
In cooperation with Aalborg Architectural Festival, Architecture & Design created this competition, where the goal was to create a space where people could meet and discuss architecture, a kaleidoscopic space for sharing knowledge. This proposal grounded in the geometry of a cube with layered wooden elements to create the expression of transparency in the pavilion, as to mimic the function of the place. The
parametric design appears as a dialogue between analogue and digital, where the exterior is relatively toned down in comparison to the dynamic and parametric interior. This creates a duality in expressions, which balances the traditional wooden architecture with a more expressional style. The placement of the pavilion underlines this, as the wooden structure softens the surrounding concrete buildings.
