The research I developed for my final project focuses on Castelfranco Veneto, a small city between Venice and Padova. The context here is full of cultural and natural inputs, but it is not supported by a strong network of connections, being in fact cut off from the classic touristic trails. Furthermore, the Veneto Region is, with its never-ending cities, characterized by an excessive soil consumption. To pull together all these factors, I worked on the reconversion of an ancient convent, situated in the city centre, in a music pole. This operation aims to bring new life to a forgotten area of Castelfranco, offering at the same time a space for culture, music performances and events. The possibilities of the existing school would be increased by the addition of a new building and by the creation of a museum of music instruments. The museum would work in an innovative way, encouraging the public to interact with its collection, thanks to the support of digital and acoustic installations.

centro de arte urbana 2015 | mixed-use building
The city of Porto is living a healthy moment. Contemporary art and music are already spread all around the city, but they miss a building to represent them. Developing my Centro de Arte Urbana I gave great importance to the link between interior and exterior. The very transparent ground floor improves the fluidity of the space, creating a natural flux of people. The building, that partially replaced a granite rock, maintains the same solidity in its elevations made of stone and concrete.

spazio in movimento 2013 | mixed-use building in collaboration with Chiara Ferioli, Giuliana Liscio
To requalify an industrial suburb is not an easy challenge. The environment is unpleasant, without any architectonical interest. We decided not to build a gorgeous, really expensive building, but to use a very common typology to create new possibilities. Starting from a parking model, we organized all the activities on (electric) vehicles. You can eat, sleep, paint, dance, watch movies following their movements inside the parking space. Everything is in motion, everything is temporary and updated to the last trends. It’s a 24|7 building, always active and in constant change.

codeyard 2014 | requalification of an old factory collaboration with Simona Basile, Giuliana Liscio, Georgina Sallent
The shutting down of a factory in the first periphery of Ferrara generated a disconnection in the city pattern. All the area was abandoned, despite the architectonical quality of its buildings. Our “regenerative idea was to install a new type of productive activity. We preserved the core of the old factory by the creation of a museum and a performance space. We organized a residential belt around the fishing and the farming area. This permits the space to stay always alive. The creation of new pedestrian and cycling routes will bring our area closer to the historic center.

palazzo Tassoni-Estense 2016 | restoration project in collaboration with Ester Lara Moreno, Sandra Paola Ricci, Luca Sgubbi
Palazzo Tassoni is the current location of the Industrial Design course, in Ferrara. Although its main part is already full of activities, a large section of the space is still waiting for a proper restauration. After an attentive study of the state of conservation of the existing building, we were asked to propose a new architectural intervention in order to provide a connection between the different articulations of the area. The design, a simple free-standing steel frame, allowed us to respect the pre-existing structures without denying a complete accessibility to all the levels of the palace.

memories of Pyramiden 2015 | 120 hours contest collaboration with Jolan Haidinger, Valentina Piliego
Pyramiden represents an interesting heritage site. Its architecture reflects the changing tides of history that have shaped the town. Today, Pyramiden remains a deserted town. Our idea questioned the current approach on architectural preservation: we believe that nowadays the memory of a place can be mantained in a virtual way. This permits us to give the land we exploited back to the nature. We proposed a deconstruction process that would preserve the memory while removing the human footprint. The deconstruction would be organized through workshops that would document the process and allow people to recycle and recuperate relics that would keep the memory alive. A digital city would be created where everybody can experience the sounds, images and testimonies of what it was.

housing the time 2016 | 120 hours contest collaboration with Jolan Haidinger
Architecture creates a door allowing people to transit from different situations. Our design explores a continuous house that adapts to the fundamental transitions such as Day & Night and Inside & Outside. By blurring the lines between these transitions we created a new type of space and atmosphere. The house adapts itself to the local conditions by enlarging or reducing it’s day/night periods. There is no more inside or outside spaces but a night time enclosed by walls and a day cycle open to the world. There is no more clear separation between what is inside and what outside the house.

repeat your element 2017 | 120 hours contest collaboration with Jolan Haidinger
These small units are the representation of the minimum housing element. They are tiny, but they are the cradle for the basic living values. Together they build the village. We worked on the idea of the density, replicating the module to create a compact shared space. The design of the frame allows the users to fill it up with any material they have at hands to create a unique architectural language. Repeating the same system is economical. It is easy to build and it is simple to understand. It creates new opportunities in the variation of its possibilities

seoul green dot 2016 | 3rd prize competition internship at group8asia
Seoul Green Dot, is a place where memories and dreams coexist. It aims to become a prototype of environmentally, economically and socially sustainable design. The island is a living organism that grows and transforms itself into a wide range of configurations to serve cultural, commercial and social functions. It is based on independent cells that propagate with cultural, ecological and cohesive principles. These units create an original footprint, based on the creativity of their users.

wood working 2017 | Projecto Almar in collaboration with EDA | The Oasis, THU Festival 2017 internship at Colectivo Warehouse
During my internship at Colectivo Warehouse, in Lisbon, I was involved in two hands-on collaborative processes. I participated in the last phases of the construction of a Visitor Centre in an old Phoenician archaeological site in Almada. I collaborated on the realization of the showcase and of the furniture. I also had the chance to help on the assembly of The Oasis, a project developed by Colectivo Warehouse in Troia. These experiences helped me to improve my social skills and to develop new competences in wood-working.
