Lovejoy Community, It’s game night! Tonight, is a celebration of the grit, passion, and commitment of our football team, band, colorguard, Majestics, and cheerleaders. Our students have worked countless hours to give our community a phenomenal Friday night lights experience. Their relentless dedication exemplifies what it is to be a Lovejoy Leopard. Lovejoy ISD takes great pride in having exemplary academic and award-winning extracurricular programs while maintaining a small-town feel. The “Lovejoy Experience” is discernibly different and uniquely special. As we fill Leopard Stadium, there is no doubt that we will all feel an unparalleled sense of community and connection centered on student opportunity. The experiences that our students have in football, band, colorguard, Majestics, and cheerleading do not happen without the support and dedication of coaches and directors. Welcome to Lovejoy High School and the 2023 Football season, We are extremely excited to watch our Lovejoy Leopards compete this year. Our LHS coaching staff, student athletes, band, colorguard, Majestics, cheerleaders, directors, athletic trainers, journalism team, and yearbook students have set the tone for an amazing season. We could not be more proud of our student programs and the work they have put in to ensure they capitalize on each opportunity that presents itself this year. While our football players strive for perfection on the field, it is also important to note how valuable they are to our entire school. Lovejoy Coaches Corner 2023

Chris Ross Coach Chris Ross is entering his second season at Lovejoy, following a 10–0 regular season and district 7–5A championship in 2020. The 2020 Leopard’s season ended at 13–1 in the regional championship, earning Ross the honors of District 7–5A Coach of the Year and Harris Poll 5A Coach of the Year. Before coming to Lovejoy, Ross spent his previous two seasons as the head coach at Red Oak High School, where he accumulated a 20–4 record and competed for multiple district championships. Coach Ross joined Red Oak in the spring of 2018 after serving as the director of program development at Boise State University in 2016 and 2017. Ross is a 24–year veteran in the coaching ranks, serving as both an athletic director and football coach at various schools. He joined the staff at Boise State from Prosper High School, where he served as both athletic director and head foot-

ball coach in 2015–16. During his time at Boise State, the team earned two Mountain West Conference Championships, and were the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl Champions. Ross spent seven years as the head football coach at Cedar Park High School from 2005–12 and four as the head coach at Wichita Falls High School from 2001–05. In all, Ross has helped lead his teams to 13 playoff appearances, 7 district titles, and claimed 10 conference/region coach of the year honors. Ross also served as athletic director for the Leander Independent School District from 2012–15, which encompassed five high schools and eight middle schools and included roughly 250 coaches. His schools claimed the 5A Lone Star Cup Championship in two of his three years as athletic director, an award that recognizes the most outstanding extracurricular program in the state.

Jayson Lavender Coach Lavender will begin his twenty-third year of coaching and his third year at Lovejoy High School. Coach Lavender has an extensive background in athletics. He attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Track & Field team. After two years at Kansas, he decided to transfer to Texas Tech University and play football. There he was a walk on wide receiver and earned a scholarship while also being a member of the track team. While at Tech he played in two bowl games; the Cotton Bowl and the Sun Bowl. Coach Lavender got his first job at Carrollton Creekview coaching receivers. After three years at Creekview, he received his first opportunity to become an offensive coordinator at Marble Falls High School. Coach Lavender was there for one year before Garland High School called and wanted his service, where he served as the wide receiver coach for one year before becoming coOC. As co-OC Garland went 22-4 over three years, earning him the opportunity to become the OC at Mesquite High School. After one year at

Mesquite, Wichita Falls High School offered him the Head Coaching and Athletic Coordinator title. After four years at WFHS, he spent one year at Decatur High School as OC before he was asked to help open Frisco Independence High School. Coach Lavender was at Frisco Independence for six years, where his offenses ranked in the top 5 in the metroplex four out of the six years. Coach Lavender and his wife Shellie have been married for twenty-one years, and are community members of Lucas, TX. They have three kids that attend Lovejoy ISD: Jaxson (Sr) Kenzie (8th), Lexie (7th). They are extremely excited and humbled to be a part of this school district and community. Coach Lavender stated that, “We’ve admired this district for a long time, and it’s been our goal to get our kids in Lovejoy ISD.” Coach Lavender’s passion is teaching kids and developing meaningful relationships in order to help them attain their goals.

Assistant Head Coach Co-Offensive Coordinator QB’s

Kevin Park Kevin Park is entering his third year at Lovejoy High School. Prior to Lovejoy, he spent two seasons at Red Oak High School in the same role. At Red Oak, Coach Park helped produce one of the top offenses in the state, averaging 53.3 points per game and 253.7 rushing yards per game. Before his time at Red Oak, he spent two seasons at Murray State University, where he was the defensive line coach. Coach Park started his coaching career as a defensive graduate as-

sistant at Baylor. As the defensive tackles coach at Baylor, he coached multiple first-team All-Big 12 players as well as the Big 12 defensive player of the year. Before coaching, he played defensive line at Baylor, where he earned All-Big 12 academic honors and was on the dean’s list multiple semesters. Kevin is married to his beautiful wife Ciera.

Jason Johns Jason Johns is in his fourth year at Lovejoy High School. This will be his 26th year of coaching. A native of Odessa TX, Coach Johns graduated from Odessa High School, where he lettered in football and baseball. He then attended Angelo State University, where he earned both his Bachelors as well as Masters Degrees. Coach Johns was a four year letterman at Angelo State, earning LSC Honorable Mention All Conference, LSC Academic All Conference, and Academic All Region. Coach Johns has 16 years of coaching experience at the high school level. He was the Head Football Coach at Wichita Falls High School in 2005. Coach Johns spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant at Angelo State University as the defensive line coach. Both seasons, the Rams

won the LSC South Division Championship. While at ASU, he coached two All Americans and the LSC Lineman of the year. He also spent six seasons at Abilene Christian University as the defensive coordinator from 2006 to 2011. While at ACU, he was a part of two LSC Conference Championship Teams, appeared in the NCAA playoffs for six consecutive seasons, and was one of only four teams in the nation to win a NCAA playoff game for four consecutive seasons. While at ACU, he coached 36 All Conference Selections, 4 Conference Player of the Year Selections, and 4 All Americans. Coach Johns has two daughters, Morgan, a freshman at The University of Arkansas and Kennedy, a freshman at Lovejoy High School.

Inside Linebackers Defensive Coordinator

Vince Williams Vince Williams is in his third year at Lovejoy High School. He is entering into his eleventh year of coaching and twelfth year of teaching. Previously, he spent his first eight seasons at Lancaster where he was the defensive backs coach, pass game coordinator and the Boys Soccer head coach. Coach Williams helped Lancaster’s football team to six playoff runs including three state quarterfinal appearances and two district championships. He also helped improve the defense to an area top 10 defense for multiple years. Coach

Williams graduated from The Colony High School where he lettered in football and powerlifting. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his degree in mathematics and later received his masters degree in curriculum and instruction with a STEM and math focus from the University of North Texas at Dallas. Vince has been married to his wife, DeAnna, also an Oklahoma graduate, for six years. They also have a son, Vince “Tripp”, III who was born last fall.

Ryan Ledford Coach Ledford is in his fourth year at Lovejoy High School. This will be his ninth year coaching, with stops including McKinney where he coached RB’s and TE’s and The Colony where he coached offensive line. Coach Ledford graduated from Texas A&M University and received his masters

degree from Lamar University. Coach Ledford is married to Lindsay who is also a coach and girls coordinator in a neighboring district. Lindsay and Ryan have been married seven years and have a 3 year old daughter, Reagan, and newborn son, Riley, who love Leopard Football.

TE’s Co-Special Teams Coordinator

Brandon Jackson Brandon Jackson coaches the receivers, and this will be his third year at Lovejoy. He started his teaching and coaching career opening Frisco Lone Star and spent 10 years there. Brandon is a graduate of the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a minor in Sports Management. While

there, he played football for the Mean Green from 2004-2008. Brandon was an undrafted free agent for the San Diego Chargers in 2008, and also spent time playing arena football with the Corpus Christi Sharks. Brandon loves coaching football and spending time with his beautiful wife Maria and his two boy’s Phoenix and Major Jackson.

Foshee Jake Coach Foshee is entering his first year coaching in Lovejoy ISD. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2021 with a bachelors of science in Kinesthiology. While attending OBU he was a 3 year starter on the offensive line at left tackle. During his time at OBU he was named 2x All-conference, all super-region, and honorable

mention All-American. After his collegiate athletics career he spent some time with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL before transitioning to his coaching career. Coach Foshee is grateful to be a part of such an outstanding program and is looking forward to a great season.

beasley carter Coach Beasley is entering his first year at Lovejoy High School. This will be his 5th year coaching and 3rd year teaching. He is from Mansfield, TX and graduated from Mansfield Legacy High School where he lettered in football. After high school he attended Texas A&M University and

obtained a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in coaching. Before coming to Lovejoy he coached in College Station for 3 years and Colleyville for 1 year. He is very excited to be a part of the Lovejoy family. Roll Pards!

Matt Cannon This will be Matt’s 3rd year in Lovejoy ISD entering his 9th year in teaching/coaching. Matt is coming to Lovejoy from Richardson Berkner where he served as the Linebackers Coach, Special Teams Coordinator and Head Softball Coach. Coach Cannon attended Oklahoma State University

where he obtained a degree in Secondary Education and a minor in Physics. Matt is delighted to be married to his wife Brooke, and this July welcomed their first child Troy to the family.

Riley Donovan Coach Donovan is in his 4th year at Lovejoy High School. He is in his 8th year of coaching with stops including Porter High School and Richardson High School primarily working with the Defensive and Offensive line. Coach Donovan grew up on the Northside of Houston before attending the University of North Texas where he competed on the Track & Field team as a thrower. After graduating from North Texas with a BS in Kinesiology, he

began his career in the Houston area before moving to the metroplex. Riley and his wife Brooke have been married for 6 years and welcomed their first child, Myers, in July to the Leopard family. Brooke joined Lovejoy in 2022 as the Head Girls Golf coach, after teaching/coaching in Frisco ISD for 8 years. RollPards!

craddock corey Coach Craddock is entering his third year of teaching and coaching and first year here at Lovejoy ISD. He is coming from Lonestar High School in Frisco, TX where he was a 4 year letterman in Football. He also was a 3 year letter in basketball and track. After high school, he would then play 2 seasons at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU). After transferring he would later graduate with his bachelor’s degree (BLA) in 2021 at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX.

After college, he began his coaching career in New Boston ISD coaching football, basketball and track. After deciding to move back closer to home, he would land a job in Celina ISD coaching all three sports as well. Coach Craddock is married to his beautiful wife, Roshi. Coach Craddock is now here in Lovejoy ISD and is excited for the future to come. ROLL PARDS!

debuque dylan Coach Dubuque is entering his first year teaching and coaching at Lovejoy ISD. He graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. While at SUNY Cortland, Dubuque was a dual-sport athlete in football and wrestling. Additionally, Coach Dubuque played professionally overseas in Spain as a middle linebacker for the Badalona Dracs. After his

athletic career, he was the Defensive Backs coach for the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons for the 20222023 season. Also, he has two years of coaching experience at Homer CSD where he assisted with the varsity and middle school wrestling program. Coach Dubuque is from New York and is grateful to join the Lovejoy Leopards family and community.

Caleb Reynolds Coach Reynolds is entering his seventh year in coaching and second year at Lovejoy High School. Before coming to Lovejoy, Coach Reynolds spent 4 years at Dripping Springs High School where he coached both Outside Linebackers and Corners at the Varsity level during his 4 year tenure. Coach Reynolds also coached baseball at Dripping Springs, serving as the Freshman Coach and the 1st Varsity Assistant. He spent his first year in education as a teacher and coach in Hays CISD. Coach Reynolds is originally from West Monroe, LA where he lettered 2 years in both football and

baseball at West Monroe High School. In baseball, he was a two-time All-District Selection and a 1st Team All Northeast Louisiana selection as a junior. After graduating from West Monroe, Caleb went to Hill College on a baseball scholarship where he spent a year before finishing his Secondary Education degree at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Coach Reynolds has been married to his beautiful wife Katelyn for 6 years, and they have a 3 yearold son named Anders.

mccarty sandy Coach McCarty is entering his 19th year of coaching, and 1st year at Lovejoy HS. He grew up in Flower Mound, TX and went to Marcus HS. Coach McCarty graduated from UNT with his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and double Minor in History/Health in 2004. He also went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Permian Basin (UTPB) in 2009, before moving back to the DFW Area. Coach McCarty began his coaching career in Richardson ISD at North JH and JJ Pearce HS back in 2003-06 with stops over the years at:

East Central HS in San Antonio, Odessa High, Temple HS, Hebron HS, McKinney High, and most recently was at Newman Smith HS in Carrollton-where he served as the Defensive Coordinator & DL Coach. Coach McCarty has been married to his wife Misty over the past 12-yrs, and they have a blended family with 5 kids: Hannah (26), Kaylee (25), Maddie (24), Konner (17), and Braylen (10). Misty is also a 4th Grade Math & Science Teacher in Anna ISD, and has been teaching at the Elementary level for over 20-yrs now.

parkman elliot Elliot Parkman is entering his ninth year of coaching and fifth year teaching. This will be his first year with Lovejoy. His previous stops were McKinney High School, Frisco Lawler Middle School and Frisco Liberty High School. Coach Parkman was born in Pontiac, Michigan and raised in McKinney, TX. He lettered in football and

powerlifting at McKinney High School. After high school, coach Parkman played football and rugby in college (one season of football at Howard Payne and one season of rugby at Texas State). He later went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in digital and print journalism from the University of North Texas.

salazar davy Coach Salazar is entering his first year at Lovejoy High School. This will be his 7th year in coaching. He is a native of Childress, TX. He graduated from Childress High School where he lettered in football, powerlifting, track & field. He then went on to attend and graduate from Midwestern State University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Coach Salazar has 1 year of middle school and 5 years of high school coaching experience. His stops include Snyder, Brock, Lampasas and

Highland Park. As a football coach he has been a part of 5 playoff experiences including 3 district championships and a 3A state semi-final appearance in 2019. As a track and field coach he has been a part of 2 district championships, 1-3A area, regional and state championship as a team in 2021. Coach Salazar loves coaching football. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and his beautiful girlfriend Katie.

zimmerman zack Coach Zimmermann is entering his first year coaching at Lovejoy High School and 10th year coaching High School Football. He coached as a Defensive Backs Coach at Santa Barbara City College, Lubbock Monterey High School, and Lubbock Estacado High School before serving as the Defensive Coordinator at McKinney High School and Sherman High School. Coach

Zimmermann is a graduate of Slippery Rock University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management as well as Georgia State University where he earned a Master’s degree in Sport Administration. He has been married to his wife Lauren for 9 years and they have three boys Kellan (6), Bryce (4), and Micah (1).

boyd james Coach Boyd is entering his sixth year in coaching and first year at Lovejoy ISD. He’s coming from Eastlake High School In El Paso, Texas where he coached both Defensive line and Linebackers. Coach Boyd also coached Softball at Eastlake serving as the Varsity

Assistant Coach. Coach Boyd is originally from El Paso Texas where he attended Parkland High School playing football and baseball. Coach Boyd Graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education.

ramos michael Michael Ramos is entering his fifth year of coaching, and he’s excited to begin his first year in Lovejoy ISD. He graduated from McPherson College, where he played both football and baseball while earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. After graduating, Coach Ramos was hired by his alma mater as part of the football coaching staff. He took on multiple roles, serving as the wide receiver coach, pass game coordinator,

and academic advisor. Additionally, he played a crucial role as the football team’s strength and conditioning coach. Wanting to be closer to home, Coach Ramos returned to his hometown in Texas, where he gained valuable experience while coaching in Frisco ISD. During his time there, he worked with wide receivers and quarterbacks between both Independence High School and Nelson Middle School.
