Hello, I am pleased to introduce Matteo Lubelli, an Architecture graduate student, whom we met and appreciated during his internship in our firm. During this period, Matteo has shown an excellent ability to produce a complete series of drawings, from the concept design to the final graphic rendering. Specifically, he has distinguished himself for his spirit of collaboration and his ability to manage a project in all its phases, up to the control of the final details. Matteo is serious, professional and has approached the themes developed by our firm in a very dynamic and interactive way. He has always managed his tasks in a constructive and enthusiastic manner. He is able to work both independently and as part of a team, with excellent results both in competition projects and those related to the professional activity of the firm. Matteo has actively participated in the project of the new Develer Sri headquarters in Campi Bisenzio (FI), in the expansion project of a sports facility in Prato and in the feasibility project of a new hotel, where he dealt with the concept and the graphic rendering, obtaining excellent results. He has also worked in the international design competition for the construction of a residential block in Moscow (DOM competition), following some the design aspects and handling the graphic rendering of the project. In conclusion, we believe that the work experience carried out by Matteo Lubelli in our firm has been very positive and, thanks to his working abilities and his human qualities, we are happy to recommend him for any experience he wishes to undertake in other architecture firms. Should you require further information, or should you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience.

NEW CULTURAL CENTER IN LYON Cultural
Year: 2018 Site: Lyon Tutor: Silvia Gron Master thesis The project is divided in two different phases: first consists in a reconversion of an old industrial area nearby the river into a public urban park that will have buildings in its inside with different functions. The second phase is an architectural project located on the river-walk: the new cultural center. The focal point of entire urban regeneration is to reconnect this abandoned area with the river, thanks to a new overhead walkway that branches off into several sinuous paths inside the park, closely connected to the existing urban pattern. There are different functions such as a research area, residential buildings, old factories reconverted in offices and a new cultural center. The cultural center is characterized by regular and simple shapes which gives it a contemporary look, where each space has its own functionality and is connected via an escalator, ramps and lifts to the central block of the building. Thanks to the chromatic material used, this block becomes the project’s core. The functions are defined by a different use of the material and color. For example, the exhibition areas are built in a polycarbonate material while restaurant and bar on the top have mirrors that reflect the surrounding area; for the auditorium has also been used a different color and material.

COMMON CULTURAL CORE Cultural
Year: 2018 Site: Sedhiou Status: proposal Kaira Looro Competition The Common Cultural Core in Sedhiou is an ambitious project which relinks people to culture, throughout the collective work of self-construction in architecture. In this sense the building is made by the community with local materials underlining the radical sense of the purpose: a new center for the region, a fascinating design which instead of being a sculptural whim is aimed to a new perception of the area redefining a renovated identity for all inhabitants. The shape concept starts from the Senegalese cultural value of Baobab tree: a central void rounded by people getting together and from which three axes cut the building in blocks that mainly accommodate macro-functions of offices and technical aspects (on the East side), cultural exhibition (North-West side) and education (South side). Adopted materials are the solution to empower the project’s feasibility. Big static elements are made in bamboo (roof structure, pillars and floor platform), earth (walls) and straw (roofing slate). Within the rigid framework, other objects (various furniture and bamboo panels for exposition) are continuously moved to adapt space to uses.

DOM COMPETITION Residential / Commercial
Year: 2018 Site: Moscow Studio: MDU Architetti Status: proposal The main goal of the project is to realize a new urban layout to develop in the suburbs of Moscow. The urban layout proposed, it is designed to be divided into two 20,000 square meters lots that, adjacent on the short side, are supposed to form an urban cell repeated in the territory for the formation of portions of structured cities. This model produces a type of development aimed at preserving the advantages of living in a private home, with a plot of land. At the same time, the surrounding environment is formed by a dense residential development of low-rise building types. There are important elements such as the cross-cutting pedestrian links, collective spaces for residents and various public amenities. The low-rise buildings developed inside the lot are characterized by four types of housing. The common aim is the modularity of the buildings thanks to which it’s possible redefine a new layout for each location or situation. Buildings have a black zinc skin that covers a x-lam structure easy and fast to build.

RING HOTEL Hotel
Year: 2017 Site: Prato Studio: MDU Architetti Status: design in-progress
The project born from the commission’s request to develop an idea for a new hotel located in Prato, close to Pecci Museum, characterized by rounded shapes. The design is developed from the geometry of the ring and is divided into 3 floors. On the ground floor there are common spaces: the hall, restaurant, bar, gym and other spaces whilst on the first and second floor it’s possible to find the rooms. The three floors are linked by two footbridges generates above the central court. The open court becomes a common garden and the first space access from outside. The ring shape, at the ground floor, is broken thanks to two holes that incline surfaces inside the building. The hotel circular shape creates a strong link with the Pecci Museum.

GREEN BOX IN TURIN Residential
Year: 2016 Site: Turin Tutor: Luciano Pia Project atelier
The project was realized during the project atelier for sustainable architectural project, held by the architect and professor Luciano Pia. This project is based on an existing building, an abandoned factory. The idea of the project was to keep the existing building, making a technologically sustainable intervention and, above it, maintaining the main lines, create apartments that respected the principles of sustainable architecture: orientation, covering, solar radiation exploitation, surfacevolume relationship, accessibility, use of materials, respect for the environment and integration with the green. This last aspect is fundamental both in the vertical green walls and in the presence of a garden for each unit of the additional storeys, which makes the various residences independent units with their own garden and a double facing.

WINE SHOP Restoration
Year: 2016 Site: Chieri Tutor: Michela Benente Project atelier
The project was realized during the project atelier “Compatibility and Sustainability of Architectural Restoration. The idea was to insert, in the free space of the west sleeve, a new, state-of-the-art, COR-TEN block that would integrate with the existing masonry, eliminating only the coverage of the weight itself. The wine shop is designed to have two separate locations to differentiate the activities within. The ground floor is intended to accommodate the sales utility and wine tasting at the counter with a space that opens around the staircase that thus becomes the compositional matrix of the project. The upper floor is used as a dining room: the environment that is created is well well-lit by three skylights on the roof top and an aperture that completely opens the view on the front road.
