Common spaces to do community in a post-communist mass housing neighborhood in Cluj-Napoca. Catalogue for a mediated partecipation.
The thesis work born from an intuition emerged during the workshop DEMOCHANGE CITIES, in the romanian city of Cluj-Napoca. The work then has continued to grow thanks to a study period in the German city of Hamburg of some practices about the re-generation and the re-appropriation of the public space, through the re-activation of the citizens. The two experiences would have highlighted the need to re-imagine the abandoned or informally appropriate public space, within the neighborhood Mănăştur (already analyzed during the workshop).
So it has been proposed a participatory project with a mediation system where the planner will assume the role of a facilitator/mediator between the residents and the municipality.
A question did as engine to the entire work:
can be the urban space re-generated in order to institute citizenship?
