Administration
Dr. Mark Foley has served as president of the University of Mobile since 1998 and is the third president of the university since its founding in 1961. During more than a decade of leadership, Dr. Foley has led the move to intentionally integrate faith and learning in all areas of university life, while raising academic standards, building new residence halls, establishing outstanding programs such as the Center for Performing Arts, and earning the private Christian university national rankings. His emphasis on the core values of faith, learning and leadership has extended to all operations of the university, from the classroom to the administrative offices. With these core values in place, the university is committed to graduating confident Christian men and women who have mastered the body of knowledge required by the degree they hold; who know how to think; who know what they believe and why they believe it; who possess the courage to live and work according to those beliefs; who accept responsibility as caretakers of that with which God has entrusted them; and who possess the willingness and skill to use their influence in appropriate and effective ways to change the world around them. Dr. Foley is a member of the Executive Committee of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, a past chairman of the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Schools, and a member of the Board of Directors of Victory Health Partners and Volunteers of America, Southeast, Inc. Previously, Dr. Foley was executive vice president of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a bachelor of business administration from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas; and a master of divinity and a doctor of philosophy in psychology and counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister, a former business owner, and has practiced as a professional counselor. His wife, Marilyn, is involved in many university activities. She holds a bachelor of science in education from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and is a former classroom educator. The Foleys have two children and two granddaughters. Their daughter, Molly, is married to Doug Sawyer, an accountant in Georgia, and they have two daughters, Avery and Abby. Their son, Rob, and his wife, Leah, reside in Colorado where he works with Christian ministries in the National Parks system.

Coach Campbell spends most of his time coaching and mentoring players with his wife and assistant, Amber, by his side.
Amber Campbell Amber Campbell, who graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in 2004 with a degree in public health, is really an assistant coach in name only. Her various duties indicate an involvement level usually reserved for head coaches. Campbell is actively involved in planning and coordinating practices, while she also designs and implements the weight training program for the team. She works closely with the team’s setters during games and practices, and joins with husband and head coach Jon Campbell for game management and overseeing statisticians. Campbell adds 12 seasons of coaching experience to this husband-and-wife duo and has committed to training life skills and developing good character in players while improving their volleyball ability. Since moving to Mobile in 2005, she has conducted a Training Team Program that is designed to develop players who are unable to travel with club volleyball. The Campbells have two children.

2012 Preview In 2012, the University of Mobile volleyball team will look to get back to the National Tournament after a two-year layoff.
and defensively, and should be impact players for us again this year,” Campbell said. Seven players will battle for the libero jersey, providing phenomenal ball control to the offense: May, Armstrong, Taylor, Pena, Rachel Barber, Caroline White and Courtney Fenwick.
“Every year, our goals are to win conference and make it to nationals,” Head Coach Jon Campbell said. “We are now in our third year in the SSAC, so we have a better idea of the level of competition, and our conference is now eligible for two national bids, as opposed to one.” The Lady Rams have a lot of returning talent, having lost only one seThe team’s lone senior, Kiara Gay nior last season, and have inked an exciting recruiting class that features and Caroline Ennis will round out two setters, four hitters and three the outside hitter spot. defensive players. Running the offense will be returning setter Reagin Boggs and newcomers Alex Beaver and Kaitlin Vail. Boggs finished last season with 636 assists as the team’s second setter, but she will be expected to take over the lead role this year. “We are looking to Reagin to be a leader on this team and to take her game to that next level,” Campbell said. “Alex has experience in the fast offense that we like and shows impressive timing and location, while Kaitlin offers versatility to run multiple offenses and should adapt quickly to what we do.” The setters will have freedom in their offensive selections with a full arsenal of hitters. On the outside, Kiara Gay returns as the team’s lone senior after leading the way with 437 kills last season. Jessica Rule will factor in as a utility hitter after redshirting last season, while a pair of 5-10 newcomers in Bailey Nations

“We will look for Kiara to step up and hit at a higher percentage, and we are very excited about having Jessica for this season,” Campbell said. “Among the newcomers, Bailey does a great job of getting on top of the ball and really fits our offense, and Caroline is a hard worker that brings some more versatility to our hitters.” Other players that could see time as outside hitters are Nicole Armstrong, Cayce May or Lindsay Taylor. Returner Tayler Houseknecht is a strong right side option for the Lady Rams and provides another hitting avenue. A pair of 5-11 returners in Disah Kolassiba and Sara Van Wert lead the way at middle blocker. Disah finished 2011 with 326 kills and 103 blocks, while Sara added 234 kills and 96 blocks.
“Libero is a key spot on the team, and we are replacing a very good one,” Campbell said. “White is a natural leader, Armstrong brings energy that can amplify the level of play, Barber brings an aggressive style of play that is needed at the position, and May is technically sound in all aspects of the game. We have watched Alicia Pena and Lindsay Taylor develop into high-level defensive players, and there’s no way to predict who will earn the libero position.” Awaiting the team will be a 35-match regular season schedule spanning Aug. 24 – Nov. 5. The team will have 14 home matches, including two each on Aug. 24 and 25. The Lady Rams will face 3rd-ranked Lee on Sept. 14, and do a home-andaway with 12th-ranked Spring Hill. Preseason No. 18 Freed-Hardeman will await UMobile at the Faulkner University Tournament Sept. 8. “It all starts with conference play,” Campbell said. “Every school has brand new recruiting classes, so our emphasis is on our team development. We can control one factor, and that is us.”
“Both Disah and Sara have the ability to impact the game offensively
