01. Film Institute
The objective of this project was to create a Film Institute for the Greater Cincinnati region, which currently lacks such a facility. The site is located in the National Historic District of Over-The-Rhine, which has seen significant urban renewal and gentrification in the last 10 years. Our site also contains a traditional Italianate structure to be incorporated into the final design.
01. Film Institute
1/16 scale process models of the proposed structure. The final process model (immediate right) is the basis of inspiration for the 1/8 scale model. The materials used include 2 ply chipboard, bristol paper, and basswood sticks.
02. Insertion Project
The goal of this project was to improve an existing building by inserting a construct into the space. The building provided was the alms building portion of the DAAP complex on campus. I proposed to add a grand stair to the southern edge of the building that creates space to enjoy the light qualities and views from the insertion. The exterior skin of the addition is a modern, reflective metal that draws attention to the building and establishes a visual focal point near one of the main entrances of the college.
03. Summer Studio
This project is largly a massing study and introduction to digital v-ray Rhinoceros rendering. The building is meant to be a lab for scientists on a fossil park.
03. Summer Studio
Final renderings for the laboratory. The site in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio was steeply sloped and presented unique design challenges.
03. Summer Studio
04. John G Waite Associates, PLLC.
Building 110 on Governors Island, New York Harbor is one project I worked on during my time at John G Waite Associates. Tasks included structural brick analysis, general current conditions survey, & creation of AutoCAD elevations & floorplans.
05. Folly
The objective of the folly was to create a space for meeting within an 8 foot cube using only pine, MDF, and a third white material of choice. Our 8-person group went through a comprehensive iteration process before arriving at our final model design. We then fabricated the entire full-scale project in a week. The string wall is semi-permeable and encourages interaction as passerby attempt to walk through it. Additionally, the string produces unique lighting qualities.
06. Maria Stuarda Opera Set Design
Through a collaboration between the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) and the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), we designed and finished a set for the opera Maria Stuarda. I collaborated with two fellow DAAP friends, and our design was chosen for full scale fabrication through a competitive charrette process.
07. Deck Project for Mission Trip The objective of the deck project was to create a wheelchair ramp and outdoor gathering space for a family in the small town of Murray, Iowa. A primary goal was to engage the family throughout the entire construction process.
08. Autodesk Revit & Rhinoceros Tectonic study models created in Rhinoceros with Grasshopper.
Wireframe study model created in Autodesk Revit.
09. Armature
The objective of the armature was to create a pedestal and semi-enclosure for a plaster piece. The plaster piece was created earlier in the semester to study balance and form. A primary goal was to continue similar design language from the plaster piece to the wood structure.
