Gulf Museum of Sustainability Fall 2018
This project was based in the Arts District in Dallas, Texas. The program allowed for individual research into a subject that was facing issues regarding sustainability. Choosing to focus on the Gulf of Mexico, the form and journey through the building was then inspired by the subject. Traveling down through from the land, ecotone (“threshold”), and finally aquatic environments, the museum is then topped with a “sky dome” that connects the building together. Entering the museum, one is immediately drown into the open qualities of the “sky”. From the lobby, one can go downwards into the rest of the museum, while the atrium allows you to see where you originated from. The materiality of this museum was chosen with transparency and nature in mind, making glass, steel, and wood the most noticeable features.

Nyboder Bibliotek Fall 2019
Based in the historic Nyboder Plads neighborhood in Copenhagen, Denmark, this project asks the designer to create a new public library (“bibliotek”) within the iconic row houses. Previously housing Naval barracks in Copenhagen, this area once housed the rapidly growing Royal Danish Navy and their families built from 1757. In order to respect this history, I chose to focus on the oceanic aspect of the neighborhood’s history - opting to create an “Iceberg” as the library. The core of the building would become the light focal piece that serves as the entry and circulation throughout the building. Moving from there, the library was then split based on side to either focus on either adult or children visitors. The main floor then became the public/common space and the top floor houses the cafe for the library. Finally, the materials used in the Nyboder library were chosen to tie back to the neighborhood surrounding it.

Home for the Blind Fall 2019
Based in the iconic Nyboder row-house community, this program asked for two new homes that added to the wellknown mustard colored row homes. This home was designed for two families with one blind parent each. In order to better accomidate this family, I included green elements in the center courtyard that can be heard when approaching - a stark contrast to the surrounding areas. The remainder of my design choices were based in materials that can be touched and heard - while making sure that there are constant changes in materiality to create a more dynamic space. This project should also contribute to the historic homes, while creating a modern identity - essentially honoring the past while not attempting to recreate it.

COMPLETING PRIVACY
After maintaining public access into the existing housing, guidelines were set based off of the homes and the sidewalk/streets.
Two new structures were placed forming a common green area similar to the row house communities.
In order to give more privacy to residents, the top floor is turned inwards to the community area.

Entrepreneurship Center Spring 2018
This project was designed for the Jazz District in Kansas City, Missouri - specifically around finding a way to integrate the Historic Kansas City Workhouse into a new development. Considering the current state of the area, I focused on creating a “connection” between the Jazz District and the rest of Kansas City. The project led to a re-imagining of a space that hasn’t been utilized in the Community. By finding a way to bridge the gap between this community and helping them thrive, our development should find a way to empower the people of the Jazz District. Although we focused on retail, housing, and the historic building, the building that was my primary focus was a community entrepreneurship center. This building is meant to empower the diverse community and its future business leaders.

Global Academic Space Spring 2017
In this project, we began with focusing on
the idea of a “scholarspace. The final goal was to create a new office space behind Snow Hall at the University of Kansas that also faced Potters Lake.
This space would be intended for interna-
tional scholars who are invited to the university. Ultimately creating 3-5 scholarspaces, a commons, restroom, and mechanical/storage space - while following ADA regulations. This project primarily was created through hand crafting and hand drafting.
