Andy Grammer

(Pop Rock) emerged in 2012 as one of the biggest success stories in the music business. He performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Good Morning America.

Cassadee Pope

(Country Pop) debuted FRAME BY FRAME in near the top of Billboard charts – Cassadee is one of only two solo women in the past five years to top the Country chart with a debut release.

Cris Cab

(Hip-Hop Reggae) became a musician with his feet in old and new worlds. He takes influence from The Police, Beatles, & Bob Marley. In 2011, Cris signed a deal and released a series of videos, becoming popular on blogs around the USA.

David Cook

(Rock) won American Idol in season 7 and went on to sell over 1 million copies of his self-titled debut album. million tracks and ringtones combined. Cook’s Idol coronation single, “The Time of My Life,” was certified platinum.

Luke Christopher

(Hip-Hop) is an LA-based rapper, singer, songwriter and producer who started in a makeshift studio that was under his bunk bed. Luke Christopher has a unique sound with a feel good element from the old school soul he samples.

Jamie Lynn Spears

(Country Pop) is already a seasoned veteran at 22 years-old following the steps of her sister, Britney. The Louisiana native is back in the spotlight with a sound that truly captures her Southern roots. Her official debut is a country ballad “How Could I Want More.”

Ludacris

Once again Veishea is coming this April 7-12 and the LIVE@VEISHEA lineup is as strong as ever. “We chose them to appeal to the largest amount of the population we can,” said entertainment co-chairman of Veishea, Mitchell Kenne. “People should be excited … we have some new exciting groups and we have Ludacris who is pretty well established and popular in our generation.” Ludacris first gained worldwide acclaim more than 10 years ago with his debut album, “Back for the First Time,” and he stars in many films such as the “Fast and the Furious” franchise. Ever since, he has had a number of dynamic performances and timeless music hits, including “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Number

One Spot,” “Money Maker,” “My Chick Bad” and “Rest of My Life.” With the upcoming release of “LUDAVERSAL” fans can look forward to more great music from Ludacris. He will likely include some of the songs from his new upcoming album at the event. Tickets for Friday and Saturday’s events may be purchased through the ISU Alumni Office for $20 per night or $25 for both nights. For more information, check out the VEISHEA website. The VEISHEA celebration, which will be held the week of April 7 through April 13 is the annual celebration which “serves as a showcase and display of the Iowa State community with a wide variety of educational and entertainment events”

(Pop Rock) is a six-piece pop rock group from Vermillion, South Dakota. After recording their EP, The Secret to Dropping Out, these high school seniors quickly tore through the Midwest in 2009 and sold out headlining shows in eight major US markets. They have since released their most recent EP Battle Scars.

Down With Webster (Hip-Hop) is a six-member Canadian rap rock band from Toronto. Originally formed for a middle school talent show and signed with Universal Motown after releasing Time to Win, Volume 1. Three songs were certified platinum in Canada. They also were nominated for a Juno Award this year.

While the purpose is to show off the university’s Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Industrial Science, Home Economics, and Agriculture departments, the celebration always brings good entertainment to town for ISU’s alumni and students to enjoy. (You have to be a student or alumni to purchase tickets.) This year’s lineup is a particularly good one, especially if you are a fan of country or hip-hop music. The shows will be worth the effort to go through finding an ISU acquaintence to purchase a ticket for you. Make sure to mark your calendar for this spring’s VEISHEA celebration as it will be one you don’t want to miss!

Timeflies

Timeflies started in 2010, and after releasing only singles, on September 19, 2011, released their debut album, The Scotch Tape. Timeflies Tuesday also followed, a series in which we are able to stay connected with fans by freestyle rapping on original and famous beats. Under The Influence, a 6 track sample-based mixtape, came out in July 2012. They have a new album out now, “All The Way.” Cal has been singing and freestyling since high school. While majoring in music and entrepreneurship he joined a band called The Ride. This blues, funk and hip-hop band was when Cal later teamed up with The Ride’s drummer, Rez, to form Timeflies in October 2010. Cal’s

musical influences include Robert Johnson, Janis Joplin, Muddy Waters, and his favorite, Big L. Cal’s biggest strength, and weakness, is his love for scotch. Rez got an early start in production after building a studio in his basement for multiple high school bands. Rez works mostly in Pro Tools, Ableton, and Reason, and plays mainly drums, guitar, and piano. Rez spent a few years DJing in college, double majoring in music and philosophy. In regards to his Timeflies production, Rez cites Porter Robinson, Benny Blanco, Pretty Lights, and JR Rotem as major influences. He is also a serious Green Lantern fan.

The duo that is twenty one pilots - Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun - has earned widespread applause for their energetic live sets and distinctive fusion of piano-driven schizoid pop and lyrical uplift. No strangers to the road, Twenty One Pilots has built a fervent national following via their electrifying live performances at innumerable headline shows and tours. The band made its Fueled By Ramen debut with a new EP titled Three Songs released Summer 2012 and was followed by a full-length album titled Vessel available now. The band will be performing on Friday evening of VEISHA. There will be a small chance fans will get to see the faces of each performer as they usually wear masks similar to below while putting on their shows.
