ooted in an appreciation of Victorian seaside pleasure architecture; the Cloud Gardens of Newbiggin aim to reinterpret the lost precedent of the Winter Garden whilst giving life to the historic promenade of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, on the Northumberland coastline through a series of public garden interventions. The main winter garden units house performance auditoriums within internal plant biomes to provide Newbiggin with the spaces to intrigue, entertain and delight.

3rd Year Dissertation: Learning from the Triangle; Understanding Queer Visibility in Space
T
his dissertation study sought to explore the ways in which sexual identity can be expressed through visual semiotics and architectural form. The backdrop for this study was the Pink Triangle in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, an area of gay nightlife that acts as an alternative to the mainstream heteronormative areas of nightlife within this party-city. The study explored how the area acts as a safe space for queer persons to enact a sexuality that may not be accepted in mainstream venues and how the visual language of the establishments speaks of a sense of pride in their ‘otherness’.
Frontage Studies; night and day analysis of the Pink Triangle to view activity and temporal changes along the main strip 09
Visual Signifiers; the Rainbow Flag acts as a symbol of sexual otherness and asserts an identity onto the urban realm

his project explored intimacy and sexuality through dating apps and proposed a love hotel comprising of a series of spaces to support the development of a relationship from the casual hook-up to couples moving in together and finally to marriage. The architecture of the love hotel is discreet with the faรงades protecting guests from outside eyes.

2nd Year Design Project: The Spice Market of Leith; Refugee Housing
T
he brief of this project was to suggest new forms of housing within the Cable Wynd Estate in Leith, Scotland. In order to first understand social conditions and communities of this estate in Leith I conducted a study of its inhabitants and their sentiments to the block to inform my design response.

M
y proposal was to create a safe-haven for newly arrived Syrian refugees in Scotland through a series of family housing units and smaller apartments that would provide temporary accommodation during asylum claim processing. Meanwhile the courtyard below would serve as a middle eastern cultural hub with a weekly spice market to engage the local inhabitants of Leith and promote integration and cultural exchange.
