Evaporative cooling of University Server Room
Rooflight before installation
Installed EcoCooling unit on rooflight
The Server room at Keele University used to be cooled using two wall mounted air conditioning units, however, the load in the area was being increased and additional cooling was required. Rather than installing another refrigeration based air conditioning unit the Estates Department wanted to fit something more environmentally friendly. We installed a Celsius EcoCooling evaporative cooling system on top of the existing rooflights, it contains two non-return shutters on either side to allow the warm air to be extracted from the area. The unit introduces cool filtered air down the centre of the area, this air is then extracted through the shutters once it has warmed up. In cold periods when the area still needs cooling there is an internal damper that opens and entrains internal warm into the entering cold air stream, thus tempering the incoming air and delivering it at the correct temperature to the servers, as most Server manufacturers specify a minimum entering air temperature of 10Co. The Celsius ‘Atemperation’ section is totally unique. . CELSIUS DESIGN LIMITED Tel 01926 887470 Fax 01926 335485 http://www.datacentrecooling.net/ email: info@celsiusdesign.co.uk
