‘water’s wet’– Christina Mamakos & Huang Ruo, June 25 to July 24, 2010
‘The Nineties’– Jean Miotte, March 5 to September 2, 2010 (show extension) Born in 1926, Jean Miotte began exhibiting in 1952 and continues to this day. As one of the important protagonists of l’Art Informel, his work is inspired by the desire of the postwar generation to create a universal human language through art, a path to peace, a way to overcome frontiers after the horrors of war. Miotte’s work is greatly influenced by Jazz, and especially by dance. These exhibitions show both early works from Jean Miotte (1940’s- 1960’s) and his more recent work (1990’s).
Upcoming Exhibitions ‘Perfect View’– Jack Toolin, August 5 to September 2, 2010
Presented by the Project Room For New Media Jack Toolin’s Perfect View is a new multimedia installation in collaboration with The C5 GPS Media Player, which allows for the navigation and displaying of GPS tracks and their related media, in an exploration of “sublime” landscape, ranging from riverbeds to rocky outcroppings. Consisting of large-scale triptych photographs, satellite imagery, and computergenerated renderings, Perfect View addresses issues on the technological and philosophical developments during the Enlightenment but also current topographic advancement. This show is curated by Nina Colosi.
An immersive video installation by visual artist Christina Mamakos and composer Huang Ruo integrates painterly depictions of water with an inventive musical voice which draws influence from both eastern and western traditional and contemporary genres, resulting in a multidimensional Impressionism. This show is curated by Santiago Navila.
