IICD is registered as a 501(c)(3) with the Tax ID# 38-3379778 We fight poverty shoulder to shoulder with the poor in Africa and the Americas, working with local communities. As a participant, you are involved in all duties within the school, such as cleaning, cooking, and maintenance of the buildings. IICD was created because we believe that international cooperation and development are necessary goals for people in our time. The institute is an alternative school which puts its participants in the driving seat of the education, and trains people to be in charge of many different tasks. The programs encourage new thinking and bring changes for each individual.

We are Development Instructors The Development Instructor Program is divided into 3 periods Period 1 | 6 months at IICD | Training to go Africa The training to become a Development Instructor takes place at IICD and contains the training of essential life skills - not only for the development work in Africa, but for living a meaningful life in the 21st century. They are not served as room service in the program, but brought about through the active participation of all the people involved - staff and participants alike. As a participant you are the driving force in your own education and at the same time you practice to be a team player. Period 2 | 6 month in Africa | Volunteer work A Development Instructor is someone who stirs things up at the project and pushes them forward. Development work is not something you do, go home and collect your pay. You do it with the project staff to move a nation forward and to improve the lives of people through your project Period 3 | 2 months at IICD | Take Action and Fight Poverty Camp Future is the name of the 2 month final period following the development work in Africa.
