European Antiques — Furniture, Art, Sculptures, Silverware, Clocks, and More!
Antiques encompass a wide range of items including furniture, art, sculptures, silverware, clocks, and more. Collectors and enthusiasts often seek antiques for their aesthetic appeal, historical significance, and potential investment value. Loblolly Interiors Market, located in Columbia, Tennessee, specializes in European antiques that offer a tangible connection to Europe's rich cultural heritage and can serve as cherished heirlooms or decorative pieces in modern interiors.
Ellen Calvin, the owner of Loblolly Interiors Market, began her love for antiques back in the day when she was browsing through Southern Accents and VERANDA magazines. At the time, she had an older house in Columbia and was looking for decorating ideas and furniture. It snowballed from there and what started as a small booth in an antique mall in Franklin turned into a packed store when she finally decided to open her shop in Columbia in 2005. “It just took off and by the grace of God, I'm still here. Thanks to the support from my loyal customers in Columbia and surrounding areas, it'll be 20 years next year,” Calvin said.
Calvin started her journey with a single copper pitcher and today Loblolly is a store full of French armoires and a plethora of sought-after European antique furniture and accessories. She directly imports containers from Europe and travels all over to find the treasures for her store. European antiques hold historical and artistic significance, often reflecting the craftsmanship, design styles, and societal values of their respective eras and she wants her merchandise to tell a story of individuality.
“I believe people want to put statement pieces in their homes that are not found in typical furniture showrooms. I want the antique pieces purchased here to look like they were collected over time and tell a story, my pieces do that. I promise my customers they are not going to go to their friend’s house and find the same piece there,” Calvin explained.
When visiting Loblolly Interiors Market, patrons will encounter a captivating array of European antique pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries from England, Sweden, France, and Italy with a Neoclassical style. Her store also features a collection of American antiques and a curated selection of antique and mid-century art pieces.
Patrons can peruse Loblolly and find a diverse selection of artwork with featured art by Donna Wisener, Lucie Mayes, Kim Sanderson, Kim Barrick, Karen Philpott, Lenn Hopkins, and Brenda Coldwell. Adding that personal touch to the curated art collection, original pieces painted by Calvin herself also grace the walls of her shop.
Stop by Loblolly Interiors Market Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to experience the past treasures from Europe for yourself. Follow them on social media at @loblolly_interiors.
