Lora Powell, founder and owner of Salon Blonde, has successful salons in Columbia and Spring Hill. Powell began her career in cosmetology in high school. She then worked her way through college as a stylist, earning her bachelor's degree in sociology. Following her move to Nashville with her husband, a songwriter, Powell integrated into the city’s vibrant music scene where her talents as a stylist flourished. Transitioning into the realm of education, she became an Educational Consultant for a hair color company under the L’oreal brand, providing training programs for fellow stylists. Although she had experienced success in this industry, she couldn’t shake the dissatisfaction with how many salons treated their staff. Witnessing talented stylists undervalued and overworked, she saw an opportunity to do things differently.

With her wealth of experience and expertise, Powell felt compelled to embark on a new venture the establishment of her own salon. "It definitely was a calling from the Lord," Powell reflected, "even though I struggled with the idea for a few years, I finally gave in, trusted God, and opened the salon in Spring Hill." This leap of faith proved to be transformative as Powell's salon quickly became a hallmark of excellence in the community, reflecting her unwavering commitment to her craft and her deep-rooted faith guiding every step of her journey.

Since its inception in 2008, Salon Blonde has evolved from a solo endeavor to a thriving establishment with a staff of over 40. Their mission is to create a beautiful and fruitful life for their staff by creating a beautiful experience for their guests. “We have had success because we focus on the success of our staff, and their success and happiness is passed along through a beautiful experience for our guests,” said Powell.

Salon Blonde emphasizes growing professionalism in the industry, with the result of providing a more exclusive and luxurious experience for their clients, and their dedicated staff sees no ceiling for their career path. Salon Blonde South, which opened in December 2021 in Columbia, is the perfect example of a possible career path for stylists to embark on. Lauren Mosley, who has worked at Salon Blonde for 10 years, is the co-owner with Powell of the Columbia salon, which showcases a chic industrial vibe. “Lauren started at the bottom as an associate and worked her way up into leadership. She then became a shareholder in the Columbia location and runs that salon, but that's not where we have her stopping as she still has goals she wants to achieve. It's just one of the ways we can professionalize this industry and create a career path for our staff,” Powell explained.

The Spring Hill and Columbia locations abide by the same mission statement and values and offer high-quality services with identical pricing. Salon Blonde’s services include hair design and styling, face, skin, and waxing services, as well as luxury hair extension services. One of their specialties is color services, specifically blonding. Salon Blonde focuses on healthy blonding. “That's something that I'm very proud of. All our stylists, at any level, can blonde hair in a healthy manner. It doesn’t matter how long your hair is, we are going to take care of the integrity of the hair,” said Mosely.

Additionally, the stylists are highly skilled in helping clients select a hairstyle that suits their preferences and aligns seamlessly with their lifestyle. Whether a client is looking for a precision cut, which is a structured hairstyle with clearly defined lines and a well-maintained shape, or the result of a design cut which is more individualistic, with a focus on creating a style that complements the client's facial features, lifestyle, and fashion preferences, the stylists at Salon Blonde can assist. Mosley added, “We do very thorough consultations to understand the guests’ needs, which leads us to give better haircuts that are customized, it’s not a one-size-fits-all.”

Salon Blonde has an amazing bridal team offering a stress-free experience on your big day as well as an extension team that does beautiful luxury extensions offering an in-house line of extensions that are made using the highest quality of natural human hair. Furthermore, licensed aestheticians are at each location offering waxing services, facials, brow tinting and lamination, and lash tinting and lifting. Guests will also find a wide variety of top hair and skincare products at Salon Blonde. They are a REDKEN Black Elite Salon, the only salon in Maury County to carry Kérastase, and one of their top-selling products is Pureology.
