The Courtyard House is a residential design project created for a retired businessman from Ahmedabad Situated on the outskirts of Uttarsanda, a town renowned for its small and medium-scale industries, the primary goal was to create a living space that was simple and unassuming, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The Vastu grid concept was used for zoning, with the central box of the nine left open as a courtyard, also known as "Bhramasthal." The courtyard functions as a source of natural light and ventilation, linking the indoor and outdoor spaces. A semi-open curtain wall allows cool winds to enter the house and escape through the courtyard, keeping the temperature inside cool. The interior spaces are visually interconnected through the courtyard of the house.

The design of the house allows users the freedom to take pause from his monotony and extend any recreational activities or gatherings to every corner and niche. The shaded peripheral extension was purposefully incorporated to shield the exterior walls from direct sunlight.

Dabhan

The design of the Dabhan house was tailored to cater to the requirements of a nuclear family that was expanding

The central idea of the layout was to create a compact and intimately built space that also offered an open ambiance. To achieve this, a double-height volume was incorporated that linked the living room to the lounge and had a visual connection to the puja room. The use of exposed brick in the material palette was a nod to the client's previous home and served to establish a connection with it.
