È stato detto e ridetto: un cappotto impeccabile è una dichiarazione di stile in grado di trasformare istantaneamente un outfit. Tutte le donne del mondo lo hanno potuto constatare, verificare e dimostrare più e più volte. In effetti, il cappotto è molto di più di una mera costruzione in tessuto: è un assoluto del guardaroba che vive di vita propria passando attraverso diverse esperienze. Con lui si stabilisce una relazione esclusiva e, insieme, condivisa da tutti. È uno di quei capi che si indossano quando si vuole comunicare un certo mood o un’emozione particolare – sicurezza, vulnerabilità, raffinatezza o seduzione. Questa stagione, è stata una scelta vincente invitare Hanneli Mustaparta, blogger, star dello streetstyle e fotografa, che non sa resistere a un cappotto colorato, decorato o a fantasia. In fact, a coat is more than mere fabric construction – it’s one of those wardrobe essentials that brings on a life of its own throughout the experiences one endures. It’s a unique relationship, albeit one that we can all relate to. It’s one of those pieces that you wear when you want to convey a certain mood or emotion – confidence, vulnerability, sophistication or flirtation. This season, it was only fitting that we called upon Hanneli Mustaparta, the blogger/street style star/photographer who never shies away from a colourful, patterned or embellished coat. She’s a prime example of an individual who wears her clothing and doesn’t let her clothing wear her (with effortless sophistication nonetheless). Ti piace giocare con il colore nei tuoi outfit? Tutti i miei outfit partono dal colore. A pensarci bene, a volte guardo solo i colori e creo l’outfit di conseguenza, perché le due cose sono strettamente collegate. E non devono necessariamente essere colori forti, possono essere anche molto delicati. Scelgo diverse sfumature di bianco, o di rosa, o di rosso e le mixo tra loro. Qual è il tuo approccio quando ti vesti? Inizio dal basso, dalle scarpe, perché è fondamentale avere scarpe comode. Da lì, in qualche modo creo l’outfit, senza nemmeno pensarci troppo, anche se sono sempre attratta dal colore. Qual è il tuo primo ricordo legato a un cappotto? Mia zia era una donna favolosa, viveva del nord della Norvegia. Era capace di uscire con i collant di nylon e rischiare di congelare perché faceva davvero molto freddo – era come una “questione di moda o di morte”. Qualche anno fa mi ha detto che potevo esplorare la sua soffitta e prendere tutto ciò che volevo. Ho trovato un cappotto meraviglioso, di un viola intenso, con dettagli di faux fur sulle maniche: mi sono sentita una vera principessa. Ti piace mixare stili diversi? Il mio stile è in continua evoluzione e credo che questo sia l’aspetto divertente del vestirsi: non ci dev’essere alcuna regola. Un giorno posso essere un po’ tomboy e il giorno dopo super elegante e femminile. E tutto è tenuto insieme da piccoli dettagli originali. C’è qualcuno che ammiri per il suo stile? Sono un’ammiratrice di Penelope Tree, un’icona
Do you love to play with colour in your wardrobe? All my outfits start with a colour. I think sometimes I’ll just look at the colours and figure out the outfit later because colour has so much to do with it. It doesn’t even need to be about strong colours, they can be really really soft. I pick different shades of white, or pink, or red and mix them all together. What’s your approach to getting dressed? I start at the bottom, with shoes, because you have to have practical shoes. From there I somehow build an outfit without even really thinking about it but I’m always drawn to colour. Do you have any early memories of coats? My aunt was this fabulous lady in the north of Norway. She would wear nylon stockings and get injuries because it was way too cold – it was like fashion or die. She told me a few years ago that I could go through her attic and take anything I wanted. I found this amazing coat – it was deep purple with faux fur on the sleeves and I felt like a princess. Do you like to mix and match different styles? I can be a little bit boyish one day and then I can be super elegant and feminine. It all comes together through the little whimsical details. Is there anyone whose style you admire? interesting outfits that were all about her. I think that’s why I find her inspiring because she was so true to herself. Do you have any hidden talents? I can juggle. You can juggle?!? When did you learn to do that? I was in love and had a crush on somebody when I was 16 – and this guy could juggle. I figured if I learned how to juggle he would like me. He never ended up liking me more than a friend, but he thought it was fun to juggle with me. It’s very meditating actually. I can come home and if I need to wind down a little bit I will juggle. Some people like to knit – I juggle. Where does your love of fashion stem from? I grew up in an area where everyone dressed the same and I felt very uncomfortable looking similar to everyone. So I would always go to flea markets to find something that attracted me, something that I was drawn towards. I was that awkward girl that people were like ‘what is she on?’ Your social media following is huge – what goes into making a good Instagram post?

Credo di aver trovato in lei una fonte d’ispirazione proprio perché è sempre stata se stessa. Hai qualche talento nascosto? La giocoleria. La giocoleria?!? Quando hai imparato? Quando avevo 16 anni mi sono presa una cotta per un ragazzo che faceva il giocoliere. Credevo che, se avessi imparato anch’io, gli sarei piaciuta. Alla fine non mi ha mai considerata più di un’amica, ma trovava divertente fare giocoleria con me. In realtà è un ottimo esercizio di meditazione. Quando torno a casa e ho bisogno di rilassarmi un po’, faccio il giocoliere. Alcuni lavorano a maglia, io faccio il giocoliere. Da dove viene la tua passione per la moda? Sono cresciuta in un posto dove tutti si vestivano allo stesso modo e mi sentivo veramente a disagio ad apparire simile a tutti gli altri. Perciò andavo sempre nei mercatini dell’usato a cercare qualcosa che mi attraesse, che catturasse la mia attenzione. Ero la tipica ragazza strana di cui la gente pensa “cosa si è messa addosso?”.
Hai un seguito enorme sui social media. Come si fa un buon post su Instagram? Ciò che trovo più coinvolgente è cogliere al volo una situazione divertente o qualcosa di interessante, carino o strano. Qualcosa che cattura l’attenzione quando si scorre la bacheca. È così che faccio. E cosa cattura la tua attenzione tanto da farti decidere di seguire qualcuno? Cani e gatti. Seguo sempre chi ha cani e gatti. Hai un cane? Sì. È una piccola English Toy Terrier, è una trovatella. Si chiama Hilary Clinton: la gente ha reazioni diverse quando sente il suo nome. È divertente! Devo chiedertelo: la tua Hilary Clinton ha dei cappotti? A dire il vero sì. Di solito ho cani di grande taglia, lei invece è piccolina e non volevo che sembrasse il tipico cagnolino da salotto – anche se di fatto lo è. Quindi le ho comprato un cappotto a scacchi da boscaiolo. Ne ha anche uno di maglia. Le manca solo una pipa, proprio come un anziano signore. È una cucciola molto saggia.

Something that would grab your attention when you are scrolling – that’s what it comes down to. So what would grab your attention that would make you want to follow somebody? Oh, cats and dogs. I always follow people who have cats and dogs. Do you have a dog? I do. She’s a little English Toy Terrier and she’s a rescue. Her name is Hilary Clinton and everyone reacts differently to her name. I think it’s funny. I have to ask – does Hilary Clinton have any coats? She actually does. I normally have big dogs but she’s so small and I didn’t want her to look like a typical lap dog – even though she is one – so I got her a lumberjack coat. She also has a knitted one – the only thing she’s missing is a pipe, just like an old man. She’s a very wise kitten.
