Perfection SmoothOut™ Step-by-Step Procedures:

The Perfection SmoothOut service begins with a client consultation. During the consultation you will want to establish the texture and condition of the hair.

The hair is shampooed two times using Perfection Smoothing Sulfate-Free Shampoo.
Upon the second rinse the hair is towel-dried to remove excess moisture. Remove 95% of moisture from the hair by using a warm hood dryer or a hand-held dryer. Hair should be just very slightly damp to the touch. Comb and part the hair into 4-6 sections securing each with a clip.

Shake before use and place approximately 1-2 ounces, depending on hair length, of the Perfection SmoothOut Solution into a mixing bowl.

Using a bowl and brush application method, begin by taking 1/2� partings and apply the SmoothOut Solution to the hair from the scalp out to the ends.

Comb the hair periodically to remove any tangles and to achieve a smooth, straight surface. (It’s important to see that the hair is dampened by the Perfection SmoothOut Solution and fully saturated, but not overly saturated.)

Set a timer and process for 15 minutes. After the hair has processed, comb the hair straight and smooth.

After processing, use a handheld blow dryer on medium heat and a non-metal brush with tension to remove most of the moisture, keeping a smooth and straight finish. Hair should be dry to the touch.

When the hair is almost dry, turn on your flat iron and set the temperature to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Before ironing, ensure the hair is dry enough so when the flat iron is placed on the hair it steams but doesn’t sizzle. Taking ¼” partings iron the hair until

steam stops being emitted and the hair has a smooth, shiny finish. This will typically take 5-7 passes with the iron on each parting. 7-10 on 1/8� partings for further curl reduction on curlier, coarser hair.

Once the hair has been completely ironed, allow it to cool for 15 minutes and then thoroughly shampoo the hair using Perfection Smoothing Shampoo. Rinse and apply Perfection Hair Masque and allow to remain in the hair for 4 minutes. Rinse and style as desired.*

Always perform color services after the Perfection SmoothOut service. The Perfection SmoothOut service, like other texture services, may often cause artificial color to fade somewhat. Color hair following the service to compensate for any color loss. *Clients can shampoo and or receive hair color services immediately following the Perfection SmoothOut™ Service.

CONTINUAL COMBING For the client who wants to maximize curl reduction.
For maximum curl reduction, follow general application procedures, however, while hair is processing in Step 6, continually comb the hair straight with tension for 15 minutes. Proceed with the general application procedures 7-9 to complete the service.

Follow general application procedures. However, during the processing procedure (Step 6), take care to comb and move the hair in the direction you ultimately want the hair to be directed. While this procedure is ideal for the universal redirecting of hair growth patterns, if desired, this service technique can be performed in specific areas. It’s ideal to redirect bangs, nape area growth patterns or to tame a stubborn cowlick.
Perfection SmoothOut™ Special Techniques
Volume Compression For the client who wants to maintain their natural hair texture and curl but reduce hair volume Begin by sectioning the hair. Create a horseshoe parting at the top of the head spanning from temple to temple. Comb this hair up and secure it with clips on top of the head so it’s out of the way. This hair will not get processed with Perfection solution. Place the hair below this parting in four sections and follow general Perfection SmoothOut application procedures. For maximum volume reduction, utilize the continual combing technique during the 15 min. processing period. Proceed with general application procedures.
