They may have been dating each other for the good part of six years, but that didn’t stop Felicity from instantly crying when Lachlan, walking along the beach at Tallebudgera Creek, got down on one knee and proposed to her.

With a little over a year to plan their wedding, the happy couple who met through a mutual friend, felt they had heaps of time to plan. Once COVID came onto the scene though, it limited their ability to meet potential suppliers face to face, so much of their wedding was planned via email, phone and zoom. One of the easiest decisions was choosing their venue. “We both agreed on the wedding venue as soon as we went to have a look at it” Felicity recalls. The relaxed country atmosphere of Yandina Station drew them in and they both knew it was the perfect setting for their wedding day. Exclusive and private, this Sunshine coast wedding venue has 14 acres of prime photographic surrounds, so Felicity and Lachlan were keen to find a photographer that was familiar with the property. They found the photographer they were searching for, Studio SW19 at Your Local Wedding Guide Brisbane Expo. “Everybody at Studio SW19 was absolutely amazing and made the whole experience very easy on us” she remembers.

Once their pre-wedding celebrations were concluded, which for Felicity included a weekend at Surfers Paradise, and for Lachlan a weekend at Mooloolaba, they were ready to tie the knot, with around 65 of their guests in attendance. Felicity confides that she was concerned something might go horribly wrong, but happily that scenario didn’t occur. The worst that happened was forgetting to bring her robe. A problem that was easily fixed with a quick walk with her father to Coolum to buy another to wear for the day. While getting ready, their florist, Mondo Floral Designs, helped by setting up all of their centrepieces for the reception and also delivered their bouquets to their hotel. “The bouquets and buttonholes that we got were absolutely amazing and exactly what I was wanting” she says. Combined with the centrepieces and other floral arrangements, she felt that the whole day came together just perfectly. It was a clear bright blue sky that greeted the couple on the day of their wedding – a light breeze saving the day from becoming too hot.

was the perfect setting for their wedding day

Felicity was lucky to have both her father and grandfather by her side as she made her way down the aisle, wearing her soccer boots under her elegant off-theshoulder wedding gown. What followed was a relaxed wedding ceremony which is what both Felicity and Lachlan had hoped for. “Our celebrant just made the whole day run so smooth” they remember. They both agree that all of their vendors helped to make organising their wedding so effortless. “They all went above and beyond to help us out and it just made the day absolutely amazing.” Though some guests couldn’t come because of the border closures, they were happy with everything else and say they wouldn’t change anything. “Everybody at Yandina Station was willing to help and facilitate any requests that we had” says Felicity.

The food was also a hit with their guests, and they received a lot of very positive comments about it, plus their DJ and MC did a great job with the music and got everybody involved. They spent their first night at Coolum Beach, then two nights at Spicers Hidden Vale where they relaxed in their cabin, the spa and in the pool. This was followed by another week together at Mooloolaba. “We did lots of activities such as whale watching, jet skiing, a sunset cruise, helicopter flight and a speed boat tour.” Reminiscing about their wedding, Felicity was surprised at just how well it went. Relaxed and stress free, she says, “I am so thankful to everyone involved in our wedding because without them the day would not have been as good as it was.”

Felicity’s wedding advice: Don’t stress about the little things, it will all come together.
