FeatherWeightÂŽ is a sculptural paperweight designed to play on the irony between the form and function of the product. Cast in solid Aluminium. Modelled using Blender and Rendered in Keyshot. By Max Hearnden
Shallow bowl
Light down feathers
Roughly the size of a large apple, FeatherweightÂŽ acts as a centrepiece to your desk and a handy paperweight. The inspiration first came from brainstorming ironic novelty items that could potentially have a dual purpose in their shape.
“A paperweight is a small heavy object which is placed on papers to prevent them from being disturbed or blown away.
It was hard to communicate the form of a feather whilst using minimal geometry and earlier versions of the design featured a very curly profile which would have been difficult to cast.
