Dear Customers, Please allow me to take a moment to thank you for your business! We at Superabrasive are very appreciative of the relationships we have built with you, our valuable customers. In the spirit of growing these relationships, I would also like to take a moment and share with you our first steps into this fascinating industry as well as our intentions for the future.

Since that time, we have been constantly investing in developing and manufacturing the most innovative high-quality equipment and tools. Our commitment to provide our customers with only the best has been growing with each passing year. The completion of several important projects reflects this strong commitment.

Superabrasive entered the concrete industry by manufacturing diamond tools for existing floor grinding and polishing machines. As time progressed we realized, however, that these machines did not allow our tools to reach their optimum performance. Furthermore, they were very limited in meeting the customers’ demands. As other manufacturers did not alter their machines’ design and set-up to ensure the tools’ optimum performance, we at Superabrasive decided to develop and manufacture our own system – the LAVINA™ Surface Preparation System. This enabled us to control the RPMs, the speed and feed, the relative pressure, and the amount of resistance applied to the tools; and most importantly, to develop a fully compatible system of equipment and tools.

Recently, we released the new LAVINA25™ ThreePhase/Single-Phase Variable Speed 7.5 HP machine, LAVINA16™ and LAVINA16E™ Single-Phase Variable Speed, LAVINA25N™ Three-Phase Variable Speed15HP and LAVINA32™ Three-Phase Variable Speed 20HP. In addition to the equipment just mentioned, we develop and manufacture specialized lines of diamond products. Among these are products for epoxy and glue removal, wood sanding and polishing, marble and granite polishing and maintenance. We also offer different lines of tools for soft and for medium/hard concrete grinding and polishing. Our NATO®, T-Bone®, SA and CALIBRA polishing pads had set the standard for the concrete polishing industry,

and this has motivated us to take the technology further and create pads with working capabilities reaching perfection. The result is V-Harr™. Currently, Superabrasive owns and operates a 200,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Bulgaria, Europe and offices in Hoschton, GA (USA), Liverpool (UK). Return Policy

▪ Operating business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. Eastern Standard Time. ▪ Orders may be placed via fax, phone or email. ▪ No order limits. ▪ Orders placed by 3:30p.m. EST will be shipped out the same day. ▪ We ship Red (to most locations), 2nd Day, 3rd Day and Ground. International shipping is also available. ▪ All shipments are F.O.B. Atlanta (Hoschton), GA unless otherwise stated. ▪ Pricing is subject to change due to cost increases. ▪ All shipments are carefully inspected before they are shipped to the customers. Most of the products are packed in individual boxes and the rest are packed with utmost care. We advise that you closely examine the packages before accepting and signing for them. If they are damaged, make sure the driver signs (acknowledges) the damage. All claims for products damaged in transit should be filed with the shipping company.

Advantages of LAVINA™ SPS Models ▪ All models can be used for either wet or dry applications. (Vacuums depicted here are for dry use only).

▪ LAVINA ™ floor polishing machines are planetary movement machines featuring 3 and 6 heads. - The planetary motion results from the friction between the tools and the floor, which allows the tools to spin either clockwise or counterclockwise. This way the tool does not force itself against the surface’s resistance. On contrary, it alternates directions and jumps from high to low points rather than from low to high points. - The motion on most other machines is forced through the motor and this causes tool and gear damage as well as lip chip.

▪ Our wet set-up is enhanced by: - Self-leveling skirt that prevents slurry from spraying out. - Centrifugal force that removes the slurry and ensures clean contact between the diamonds and the floor. - Water cycles that deposit water on the periphery of the working area. * Note: Velcro-backed metal bond tools should be used wet only.

▪ LAVINA 25™ and LAVINA 32™ machines are poly-v belt machines. This enables the gravity center to stay low on the machine. The lower the gravity center the more stable the machine is.

▪ Our dry set-up is enhanced by: - Self-leveling skirt that prevents dirt and dust from spraying out. - Two hoses located at the bottom of the machine that remove the dust and ensure clean contact between the diamonds and the floor.

▪ All LAVINA ™ models feature: - Hourly meters which keep track of the working hours. This feature is very helpful in determining how many hours a job takes to finish. - Very insignificant distance between the tools and the edge of the working surface. This distance of 5mm to the edge

keeps the operator from having to do the edges by hand or with an additional machine saving him time, money and tools. - A self-leveling skirt made heavy enough to touch the ground at all times regardless of the thickness of the tools being used. It keeps dust/dirt confined under the bowl. As the skirt touches the floor, the built-in air pressure gaps surrounding the top of the skirt’s bowl allow the air to blast the dust up and have it absorbed by the vacuum. - Soft Start providing a smooth start and a gradual increase in speed - Night vision light which enables operators to have and direct the light as needed. This light is not intended to replace the regular overhead light. - Stackable weights with rubber bushings. Recommended for grinding. - Adjustable handle bars with 6 different positions intended for comfort and easy edge work. - Vacuum hose located high enough to allow clearance from the working area. - Quiet motor bolted on top that can be easily removed for inspection or repair.

VACUUMS by DUSTCONTROL

As the concrete industry grows, so does the need for concrete grinding equipment that offers dry grinding as an option. All LAVINA™ machines work dry. Their design includes a protective self-leveling skirt and a vacuum ready port.

We tested various vacuums and concluded that Dustcontrol vacuums are very efficient. Some Dustcontrol vacuums feature unique pre-separators and advanced filter technology. The majority of the dust, up to 99.97%, is removed from the airflow prior to entering the filter system. Then the filter system cleans the air to OSHA standards. Exhausted air is cleaner than the average home’s air quality, thus eliminating the harmful silica dust and asbestos fibers generated by concrete grinding and creating a dust-free work environment.

Selecting a vacuum, which offers an effective filtration system, is the next most important consideration for operators. As you may be aware, the dust from floor grinding can cause numerous problems if the vacuum used in conjunction with the machine does not have a powerful and efficient filtration system. To name a few of these problems – unsafe work environment, reduced tool life, decreased productivity etc…

Both systems feature metal bond Small Terrazzo Plugs (SMTP), which work perfectly even on the hardest concrete floors and provide an excellent foundation for all other steps.

To eliminate the hardship involved with this process, Superabrasive developed two systems – a terrazzo bond system for softer floors and a metal bond system for harder floors. Both systems work very well in providing the best foundation for concrete grinding and polishing.

Brazed Pads for Lippage, 3in and 4in Lippage removal is among the first steps in preparing the floor for grinding. Superabrasive recommends these 3 and 4 inch high performance vacuumbrazed pads for grinding lippage, floor leveling and thin coating removal. Brazed bond tools are usually very aggressive as the diamonds open quicker than in sintered bond tools. They achieve excellent results on concrete, natural and engineered stone surfaces. Wet application is preferable. For tougher cases of lippage removal and initial floor preparation, we recommend the SA superthick metal bond discs.

These non-traditional solutions proved to be highly efficient in sanding equally well outdoor and indoor wood floors. They achieve an even grinding distribution and follow the floor patterns without leaving marks. Depending on the amount of stock removal, different grits are recommended. Counter sink all screws and nails first. The discs will remove the heads. Each of the brazed discs has 3 mounting holes.

Superabrasive was among the first companies to design and manufacture polishing discs for concrete floor applications. NATO® resin bond discs are developed exclusively for concrete polishing. Grit sequence was carefully determined to ensure the optimum quality glossy finish. Polishing concrete requires several polishing steps usually starting with 50 and ending with 3000. Concrete is considered polished after grits 1800 and 3000 are applied. NATO® discs also feature a unique disc shape, which increases their work efficiency through quicker waste disposal. NATO® discs work great on both softer and harder concrete floors. Minimum of three discs per head are required for proper operation. F.A.Q. POLISHING AND MAINTAINING CONCRETE

Can all concrete floors be polished?

All concrete floors – new and old, soft and hard, even and uneven – can be polished with the proper diamond tooling and equipment. Typically, new floors are easier to polish as they don’t require much of the surface preparation work the older ones do. Old concrete floors may need lippage, epoxy, paint, stain or glue removal. New floors only require a period of at least 30 days to solidify.

What tools and equipment are used to grind and polish concrete?

What are the accepted levels of concrete polishing?

Abrasives and/or diamonds embedded in terrazzo, metal and resin bond tools are the most commonly used grinding and polishing products. Terrazzo and metal bond tools are designed for initial surface preparation and grinding while resin bond tools are designed for honing and polishing the concrete. Generally speaking terrazzo bond tools are recommended for softer concrete and metal bond tools are suggested for medium and hard concrete floors. Superabrasive recommends planetary movement machines for grinding and polishing concrete. Smaller machines are mostly suited for residential and small commercial jobs, while larger machines are suited for larger commercial jobs. Selecting an appropriate vacuum is the next most important thing. A vacuum with a high filtration capability is the best choice.

Concrete floor is considered polished when a highly reflective and glossy finish is achieved. This appearance can be obtained with a series of polishing steps usually starting with grit 50 and ending with grit 3000. It is not until grits 1500 (1800) and 3000 are applied that the final glossy finished is obtained. However, some customers prefer the less glossy finish. In any event, after grit 400 concrete can be easily cleaned and maintained. The advantage of polished concrete is its customized look.

Is it easy to maintain the glossy finish?

Polished concrete requires periodical observation and maintenance in addition to the preventive maintenance applied right after polishing is completed. Various types of neutral cleaners and impregnating sealers are available for cleaning and sealing the floors. These can be applied with a mop. For floors which are exposed to high traffic and become dull over the years, we recommend cleaning and polishing pads.

Which tools are better - Wet or Dry application tools?

Both, wet and dry application tools have their advantages. Most contractors, however, combine the two. Wet application tools are usually preferred during the initial steps of surface preparations such as coatings removal and grinding, while dry application tools are favored during the polishing steps when the surface becomes smoother. Contrary to the belief that resin bond tools create a higher friction than the metal bond tools and require water to cool down, the metal tools actually create a higher friction. Never use metal bond tools dry unless recommended by the manufacturer.
