issuu.com/maximesauce maximesauce.daportfolio.com max30.deviantart.com ABOUT ME I was born in Normandy near Rouen (76) on the 30th of October 1992. I started studying Architecture in Clermont-Ferrand (63) after studying civil engineering in Le Havre (76) between 2010 and 2011. In 2013 I’ve been selected to spend one year in the Erasmus program in the architecture school designed by A. Siza in Porto, Portugal (FAUP). After improving my level in English, I began to understand and speak Portuguese. The 2013 schoolyear was rich in progress: I developed relational skills and international team working abilities. This experience abroad coupled to the |EVAN| master degree in Clermont-Ferrand prepared me to think forward with a real working international motivation. Fascinated by urbanism and architecture, I am currently looking for a position as an intern in architecture to start my career. Thanks to my master degree, I also have knowledge about urbanism and I would like to keep developing, if possible, this field of architecture through the practice of project within your agency.

ALGOCULTURE Teachers : O. Guyon, O. Malcles, D. Robin, L. Leotoing, S. Teyssou As part of the final year study project (PFE), I worked on a territorial strategy with colleagues based in Auvergne. This approach is a direct result of political, economic and environmental issues while summoning production systems related to these territorial problematics. This approach is developed in two linear which connect, cross, disrupt and structure territories. Based on a Danish industry which is LEGO in Denmark, the two committed projects dot the linear defined by the Light Rail in a reasoned environmental framework. This project wishes address these issues to reveal local resources to transform them into local wealth, impacting at both a local and national or even international scale. The idea is to incorporate one resource, the algae, under two different forms (macroalgae and microalgae) in order to answer a wish of Copenhagen: 0% CO² emission for the year 2025.

TERMINUS Teachers : O. Malclès, L. Lafond, A. Mermier, S.Teyssou The “Terminus” project, located on the coast of Ishøj, is delicately settled in a natural and wild environment. The macroalgae industry is hybridized to recreational programs that revitalize the site. This whole transformation generates a new attraction which benefits to the Arken Museum formerly isolated.

| PROJECT INSIGHTS This is initially a macroalgae processing plants that are grown and collected on the JÌgersø pond. This industry is intended to produce a 100% based algae plastic corresponding to approximately 5% of the yearly consumption of the LEGO factory. This program goes hand in hand with a hostel ready to accommodate school classes coming to observe seaweed farming and nature. This activity on the theme of discovery is complemented by cultural facilities: a media library, primarily intended for residents of the area. The measurement on the quality of the environment has led to the desire to create a closed and enigmatic volume capable of receiving all the programs. This is accessed by a concrete base firmly anchored by pillars and which acts as a transition between the natural wild ground and lightly anchored floor of the building (concrete slab on stilts). It looks like a dock for the building that is slowly off the ground and fly on the water as it was meant to collect algae from the pond. Some rather see it as a diving board, while others prefer to stay aboard to think over fauna and flora. In the second phase of the project, the hatchery will be transformed into water sports centre. The transformation of plastic algae allows the manufacture of canoes that are made in phase one. They will sail through the traces of the seaweed still present in the second phase. Machines transforming the raw material will leave the imprint of the cooling ponds. These baths become the base of the entertainment and will be freely available as a public space on the water. Breaking with the context, the halftone architecture highlights the close landscape and build a new imaginary on the project site.

5th year | S10 Project 2

ELLE Teachers : O. Malclès, L. Lafond, A. Mermier, S.Teyssou The “ELLE“ project, located in an industrial area, takes place in a former abandoned natural place. The microalgae industry is hybridized with hydroculture, education, discovery and living programs that bring a new kind of life in the area of the industry. This whole transformation generates a new botanic park which is oriented on the experimentation of algae. Moreover, the new building creates a unique point of view on the city, a new way of living in the capital of Denmark.

| PROJECT INSIGHTS The building intersects transversely the new path to connect an existent factory of food products. It grows on a linear and horizontal plan of about 170 meters before turning vertically to a height of 130 meters. The tower hosts about 100 units of varying flats from T1 to T6. The apartments are spacious to invite students forming flat-shares. The vertical component of the building consists of a central core having accesses to the floors and wet rooms in higher levels. The choice of a double skin to encase the volume can express materiality facade and freely orchestrate openings which unify the whole. The recessed wall consists of a concrete belt that supports the glass facade. The space of two meters between the two walls creates terraces sometimes inviting interior growths such as kitchens and winters gardens. The floors of housing are also cut by floors of offices that take advantage of this flexibility to expand in open spaces or develop freely. The construction principle (double skin) also aims to overcome the proliferation of too complex construction details at the sight of the scale of the project.

| Ground floor - original scale 1/200

This principle then proceeds in the horizontal plan and the space generated by the double skin is, this time, a technical duct or an exit way. In a general matter, the horizontal plan hosts plant cultivation and processing of microalgae.

4th year | S8 Project

BIOTOPE TRAVEL Teachers : B. Bouchet, A. Durbure The project is implanted on a site on the outskirts of the Catalan capital. It is part of the skyline of Barcelona and could be in the near future a massive green tourism zone. The quarry in which I am implanted has stopped since 2013 and is now a poor nutrient soil where the flora is very difficult to reintegrate. The project aims is to give a real life to the site, whether plant or animal in addition to providing clean quality green tourism. The source of water present on the site allows to build water basins in direct linkage with the adjacent trees nurseries. The quality of the site is undeniable and participate together to improve the connection between the Vallès Occidental and the city of Barcelona.

HOT’N’WHEEL Teachers : O. Malclès, J.D. Prieur Located in the North of Barcelona in Vallès Occidental, the project is based along the highway between Girona and Barcelona. The site is already a point of meeting for professionals since it is the only location which able to change direction on the highway. The project therefore uses this strength to ensure quick and easy access to business seminars. The project includes three distinct parts to form a dynamic and multiprogrammatic building, mainly composed of reconstituted steel beams and pillars to make it economically viable. The first part is completely closed and isolated and will gather the restaurant, bar and disco. The second part is the set of accommodations and meeting rooms distributed through footbridges. Finally the third part is the ground floor: a karting track recessed in the soil enjoying the highway speed. The project aims reaching diverse clients: employees, CEOs and individuals (e.g. tourists or also truck drivers).

3rd year | S5-S6 Project

MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING Teacher : Luís Viegas During my ERASMUS year in Porto (Portugal), the project was about social housing for multi-family. The project area was given by the teachers and we had to design at first a masterplan of the site and then a building in this suburb of Porto. I decided to make use of metrostation nearby and take all the advantages of this intermodal point. Therewith, I was able to draw a lot of apartments (from T1 to T4) and also local supermarkets or companies (as a bank) to develop properly the new area of about 7000m².

G R A P H I C EXPERIMENTATION I firstly start drawing and painting some models. After that, I discovered a new passion which is the calligraphy and, especially, the graffiti art. Then, I had my first computer and I began to enjoy myself exploring a loft of softwares: from Photofiltre to Photoshop, from Sketchup to Cinema4D and 3DS Max. The following examples are some of my creation through, mainly, Cinema4D, Photoshop and sometimes Illustrator. I adore abstract art made from scratch: as in architecture, every part of the drawing is created from nothing except tools and imagination.
