The restored and furnished 1818 Gordon Log Cabin, and the Easley Country Store complete with everything the 1920’s family would need are both available to tour. The Historic Maplewood House, built in 1877 and fully restored, offers a glimpse of turnof-the-century Victorian country elegance. Maplewood House is open May through September each Sunday, 12:30 to 4:30. Village tours are available by appointment.

We have veterans of every war since the Revolution; the Civil War is especially well represented. We have received the honor of being placed as one of the few cemeteries on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site
Adjacent to 2805 S. Providence 573-449-7402 Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site contains the grave of Missouri’s 22nd governor (1875-1877), Charles Hardin, along with descendants of George Jewell. A Burial site of former slaves is also preserved and protected here. The most well-known member of the Jewell family buried in the cemetery, William Jewell, died while establishing a college in Liberty, MO that bears his name. In 2010 it was given designation as The Most Notable Historic Property.
Missouri Theatre

Beautifully renovated in 2008, this “gem of a show palace” features elegant décor and the original 1,800 pound chandelier in the main auditorium.

The Air Show, which is at Columbia Regional Airport, showcases over 40 aircraft from WWI to the present on the tarmac and flying, plus Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps Demonstration Teams. The parade on Memorial Day marches through downtown Columbia and has 155-units including veterans, bands, reunion groups, Honored Guests and war birds flying overhead to salute fallen comrades.
