Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site
Adjacent to 2805 S. Providence 573-449-7402 Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site contains the grave of Missouri’s 22nd governor (1875-1877), Charles Hardin, along with descendants of George Jewell. A Burial site of former slaves is also preserved and protected here. The most well-known member of the Jewell family buried in the cemetery, William Jewell, died while establishing a college in Liberty, MO that bears his name.

The Salute to Veterans Parade on Monday, Memorial Day, is “jump-started” by the USA and Canadian Forces Parachute Teams prior to the 165-units moving down Broadway. It includes veterans, bands, military reunion groups, and Honored Military Guests, while the planes from the Airshow fly cover overhead to honor fallen comrades.
