Welcome dear readers! Welcome to a brand new magazine from Sweden, MaxxStreet Magazine, about Swedish car culture on the street and on the tracks, we started in early 2014 by Tjofs Media, the idea is to release something that does not exist already, there are magazines/digital magazines in Sweden about our car culture, but not in English. We want to reach out and show the world how it looks on the Swedish streets and the tracks. We have been working hard to deliver quality products to our readers. We sincerely hope that you share our magazine and advises others who may find interest in our newspaper. So, who am I behind MaxxStreet? Oskar, thats me. I run a company in Sweden called Tjofs Media since 2007, I am doing a lot of photography, mostly cars, track days and of course the girls;) I got the idea to create a digital magazine in February 2014, and now we are here, with the first issue! There are many people to thank who have helped me, but also supported me and pushed me. I get extra happy when drivers and readers want stickers from me to put on their cars! That support means a lot, so Thank You! Do you have any questions, tips or feedback? Contact us at Facebook.com/MaxxStreetMag Or info@maxxstreet.com Follow us on Facebook where we often update, show some teasers and even have some competitions We hope to deliver you quality, while we have quantity. Hope to see you in the magazine #2 with some awesome features. Best regards: Oskar Karlsson

One day at... Photo & Text by Oskar Karlsson, Tjofs Media
This time at “One day at..” we visit Maxxtuning AB, Vrigstad Sweden. A typical day for Natanael, who is the owner and developer of Maxxtunings own MaxxECU Engine Control Unit.
6
Today we follow when Calle get an awesome tune of his Nissan 200sx S14 which really only has an S-chassi, the rest is modified. Engine, fuel, suspension and more! Of course, before you start, the car must be loaded off the trailer. This
was quickly solved by Calle and his grandfather without any problems. Calle put some ignition on the 4l V8 1UZ-FE, a smell of ethanol (E85) comes out from the exhaust and he revs it a couple of times to get a little warm-up before we are invited in to the dyno.
7
Nathanael chats with Calle before it’s time to take the car inside, his car runs in his previous tune settings from last year. Now the engine got a complete renovation with Ross pistons, Spool rods, ARP bolts and some other glories. Now we will up on the rollers, With a tilton twodisc clutch and a 4 speed dogbox transmission It goes a bit choppy at low rpm.
Sportscars tend to be quite low and the bench is fairly low, Calles car seems kinda low and scrape a little on one roll!
8
When we got the car on the dyno, the next step is to safely strap down the car, which is one of the most important safety factors, to prevent the car to move when they have run into the dyno. The car is attached with eight straps, four in the front and four in the back.
This is an important point fot Nathanael do this 2-4 times a day and it is something he does not ask anyone else to do.
The front straps are there so the car can’t move backwards when accelerating, while they rear secure the car so it can’t move forward, and Natanael has also 2 straps on each side of the car to stop it from sliding off the dyno.
When the car is strapped, they make a quick check so there are no fuel or oil leaks from the car. They are now connected to a vacuum tube to measure the pressure in the turbo, which is then transferred to the dyno computer. Since the car already has a dyno setting since previously, there is good tune to start from. But Calle and Natanael go through the car’s MaxxECU, and then add some parameters for injectors, boost pressure and more.
9
After some small pulls and tests, Natanael stops the car, a serious fault with the trigger sensor has occurred at 7000 rpm, and a trigger sensor that turns off the ignition can have serious consequences and may end up destroying an engine. After some time with troubleshooting we found a fault in the cable to the sensor, a short circuit was the cause, and after a lot of work we are up and running again!
10
11
We are now finally back up and running and running at full force. At least we thought, but the 600 hp engine, felt like last season, even though we bottomed turbo but nothing much happened! We looked a bit again and decided that we had to change the
spring in the wastegate, gether. Then we got the we changed the spring result that Calle wanted and ran again, better re- and he was very happy! sults, but not what we had hoped for. Changed the spring one additional time and then one more time again, this time with such a hard spring that two men could barely get it to-

About 4 Way dyno, capable of FWD, RWD and AWD, constant driving all four rolls simultaneously. The air capacities of the fans are 40m3/second at full throttle, this adjusts successive with how quickly the dyno rolls.
Max power (whp) cannot be compared with hub power (hhp) or brake power (bhp). The loss is indicated to ~ 80% loss between rollers and tires, the rest is friction in the drivetrain. Wheel power (whp) the effect moving the vehicle for-
ward when accelerating! Maxxtuning has it`s own ECU for cars, MaxxECU, which is a unique ECU on the market. May 2014, there were over 500 sold ECU`s in Scandinavia.

14 Who? I’m Jim Olofsson, a 25 year old truck driver from the northern forests of Sweden. I work my ass off, but all free time i have, i spend on my car. Why drifting? Ordinary trackdays are boring, and to drive this hard as I do with “Semlan” on the street, well then you are just stupid! The car? The legendary “Semlan”!
Is a BMW E30 with a six cylinder 24valve turbocharged engine with 470whp 630nm, coilovers, big brakes. It’s a real mission to drive and it has a golden personality for being a car! How do you drive? How do I drive? I try to run it so I can keep as much throttle as possible while i turn the car so hard that the paint comes off the body. And the whole time with such

a big smile it’s visible through the helmet. What happens in 2014? I’m building a new car that I aim to have ready to 2015. But this summer I’ll go to Gatebil, Drift Allstar Europe competition in Sweden and maybe someone NEZ with “Semlan” // Jim Olofsson, Swedish Pro Drifter

T he society involves both American cars, Japanese cars and even a French car, a Peugeot (no pictures). This is right now being
turned in to a kit car Ferrari Replica. Their garage is a real garage, a place they could live in. They got lots of fun stuff. How about a kitchen, HD projector, sound system, or even security camera surveillance or how about a wash bay, a car lift, tire machine and balancer? For the third year in a row the famous “Påsksladden” was held on saturday evening after Bilsport Performance & Custom Motor Show on the Elmia exhibition in Jonkoping, Sweden.
In the evenings after the exhibition they had a lot of problems with people who burned rubber on public parking lots and arranged illegal street races. Then they came up with the idea for this evening’s event, and for the first and second year, it was
just street cars, this year would guys behind the Swedish racetrack Mantorp Park also have a contest for licensed drifters. To attract more audience, of course there is the usual playground for street cars in a legal way.

with Lukas Kooz How did you get your interest in cars? Actually it started with car sound systems in my first cars cause i were a deejay in the past before I started with cars for real. And after some friends had “crashed”my cars I was so tired that I couldn´t fix them by myself so I reconsidered I had to fix them by myself and on that road it is..I have no education of this so I am self learned and I started before the internet came so I didn´t have anyone really to ask for tips or ideas. So it was my way or no way. Your best/worst experience? I have had a lot of experiences during my 17 years. But I have had two moments that really went right into my heart! I don´t usually care if I win or not at shows but
when I was A Trendsetter at the 40th Annual Bilsport Award some tears actually came cause that really meant a lot to me winning such a prize! And likewise when I won The Greenlight Special Award same year! Cause it was more like I as a person won the price and what I had accomplished during my years and helped so many young future carbuilders. A very good feeling and good for my karma. The worst Experiences was in the beginning of my career when i got a lot of threats from people that didn´t liked my cars or what I was doing! I even got a lot of killing threats and that was a tough time. But now I know it´s just the swedish jealousy and I think and hope people respect me now with all the work I do. All may not like my cars but they see all
the work behind my projects. And that I respect a lot! Favorite garage drink? As I call it the drink of life, Non Alcolholic Cider Do you have any plans for a new building, if yes, what? I have always plans but i never tell if I am gonna build or not just my closest friends knows this and my sponsors of course. I don´t like bragging so instead I just show up with a new project instead of talking. What is your advice to others? My best tips is don´t be afraid of thinking you can´t build cars cause everybody can do that! Two ingredients that you need is fantasy and a LOT OF patience and if you have that
Lukas and his 00Z Hyundai Genesis
you can come far! And now there are so many good car builders out there so don´t be afraid to contact them. Take me for example I try to answer everything I got and I just get proud when seeing a result of someone I helped just by mail or phone . How to get sponsorship? This i a tricky part nowadays cause everything is so extreme! But my best tips is build a car or two and try to get on so many magazines you can and go to as many shows as you
58
can. Win some prices maybe so you have something to write to that company that you want your sponsorships with! It´s common sense that if you are everywhere lika papers, radio & TV of course companys want their brand and products in your car. Not so difficult actually! Many thinks that they should get Full Spons Contracts with their first car and that´s wrong! You should be glad if you get some big discounts then you are on the right way, and when you someday get a sponsorship it´s important to give your sponsores feedback. For example I write them newsletters maybe 2 times a month and even more often when I am building the cars with pictures and explinations. Your own ratings on you as a car builder? 1-5 I would say somewhere

Honda S2000 AP1 Facelifted Text & Photo: Oskar Karlsson, Tjofs Media
60 In the town of Falköping, in the southwest of Sweden, is a great car culture, where it shows cars, both drifting cars and street cars. Here, in this town, we find a stanced Honda S2000. It’s easy to see that Jacob Björk, a 27 – year old warehouse worker, loves his car. We went with Jacob for a tour of the town, people turned and looked at the car, and it sure attracts attention! Jacob tells me that he really likes the attention he gets when he is at car shows, or just when he stops at the gas station for some fuel or even drive on public roads. People stop, ask questions, and take pictures. Jacob is not shy, he likes to tell the story of his car to people, and the most common questions is “-How can you even drive it? Does it even run? “ He laughs a little, and says that the car is okay to drive up to 150km/h then it starts to get a bit difficult to drive, the car is so
Engine: F20C Exhaust: Invida N1 Gearbox: 6 gear manual
hard that the front barely moves. And the biggest problem is the side skirts that usually scratch, but they are really solid built so it’s only to keep on driving. When Jacob goes to car
shows or just chills on car meets he is a little worried about how the road to and from the meets look like, is there any big road bumps? It can become a bit difficult to drive over, back home in Falköping, he checked all the speed bumps so he
knows where he can run , sometimes it has to be a little detour, but it’s no big problem , then he get an extra turn in the Honda with his big smile!

What shoud we call this? Superhybrid?
68
It all began in 2010 when the Quaife diff gave up on Jimmie’s car aka “Grävlingen“ , a FWD Volvo 850 Turbo. Jimmy didn’t know what he would do, he assumed he wouldn’t get anything on the warranty of the Quaife diff so parts began to be removed from the 850 and sold. But after some contact with Quaife he did get a new one, but then it was already too late for “ grävlingen“. Since the majority of the parts were already sold and he didn’t know what he would do with it so he sold the rest of the car as well.
The engine was disassembled, changed gaskets, o-rings and they mounted forged H Rods, they put in a ZF gear with hydraulic clutch, the diff was welded and a torque rod was fitted. After a very busy schedule it was time for the tuning of the ECU, Mats helped to do this with the car on the road outside Aneby and after 2 nights they got to it. Now the car was really going to run, and Jimmie took the opportunity to drive a little street race in Bredaryd where he surprised people and won over a lot stronger cars and he was just driving on regular street tires.
In the autumn of 2010 Jimmie had a new idea, a Volvo 740 for only 300 SEK, the car had been stationary for 5 years and got pulled loose with a wheel loader. The idea behind the car was to drive on the Norwegian Gatebil event at Rudskogen Motorcenter in July 2011, a cheap build that was to be held to run with the idea. Jimmie and his pal Marcus Gunnarsson started tearing the car apart, Marcus did the metal work while Jimmie began with the electrics. They found a B5254T engine that had been stored in a wood shed for over 5 years. For the choice of engine, Jimmy had help from an engine developer, Mats Gustavsson in Husqvarna, who had taught Jimmy that the B5254T have higher compression in the cylinders and since they had chosen to run on E85 (ethanol) it fit’s this engine perfect.
Then winter came and the car was stored away and nothing was done to it. But then the week before Gatebil, was “äcklet“finally out of its wintersleep and it turned out that there was a problem, the water temperature quickly raised up 20-25 degrees at full throttle, after some days, the water temperature gauge died, but the time was short and Jimmie chose to run without it. The “äcklet“was loaded up on the trailer and off to Norway on Wednesday. Gatebil 2011 Thursday came and Jimmie had packed up everything on Rodskogen Motorcenter along with his friends, the car goes through the inspection without any problems. Friday is the trackday and it started with a few warm up laps on the track and he became a little more venturous during the
69
day. At lap 6 it began to smoke under the hood, inside the depot they noticed that all the water was gone from the system, the oil had evaporated, plastic caps have melted. Jimmie plugs in his computer after 20 minutes of rest, and the car is still 120 degrees hot. And there was Gatebil over for Jimmie’s part . After arriving back home the car was left to in the garage for a month, ashamed and lonely. After that I finally started to disassemble the engine without anyone knowing. Taking it apart to see how bad it was. All the cylinders were ovoid, the head was crooked, one H-profile con rod was broken and the bearings was also broken. In great silence a new engine build was started and a B5234T5 was purchased where the seller said that the block was ready to use and didn’t have any facing edges, but after it was honed, it was discovered that there were major turning edges behind the surface rust. The engine was enlarged and new forged con rods and 81.4mm pistons were purchased, Jimmie also got hold of a new crankshaft who weighed 7kgs less than the original crank. The engine started with no problems, but about the same time, the winter came and at that time the engine in his winter car broke down, so the new engine and car had to be done in order to run as a winter car.
70 Spring 2012 The spring came and so it was time for a proper mapping of the car, the choice became Maxxtuning in Vrigstad. The mapping went very well and after a couple of pulls they had around 500 hp in the engine at 1.5 bar, Nathanael on Maxxtuning asked if Jimmie was pleased with the results. But Jimmie replied “- Nah, throw in a bit more.” Nathaniel raised it up to 1.7 bar boost pressure and after two more pulls, it was 500 whp and 580 hp in the engine, both were now satisfied. It was in 2013, the car became a celebrity in southern Sweden on illegal streetrace where the “Äcklet“ whipped many cars, Jimmie has not been so open about what was under the hood of the car and people have talked and talked about the car, especially after the car was whipped a Gallardo. Since the mapping in 2012, the car has worked perfectly and passed many tough tough miles, both ice driving, drifting events, drag race (quarter mile) and even illegal streetrace. * “Grävlingen” means badger ** “Äcklet” means creep

“DATT First Encounter R1” Sturupraceway, Sweden
Drift event Text & Photo Oskar Karlsson, Tjofs Media
74 DATT, what is that? The whole thing started last year, LĂĽnge-Mikael Andersson at L-M-R.se wanted a new trackday event. He worked hard to make an event at Anderstorp Raceway (a former F1 track in

sweden) in September. It went great, and behind the scenes he worked for a brand new drifting series in Sweden, unfortunately not the Swedish championship, but a series for people who want to compete with the slightly dif-
ferent rules and premises, but also who cannot travel to the northern parts of Sweden. DATT is a shortening of the words: Day At The Tracks. DATT will run five races, Sturup Raceway, Ljungbyhed, GrĂśndal and then

additionally Ljungbyhed again, then to the late finale at Mantorp Park along with Gatebil in September. Sturup and Ljungbyhed are courses that people hardly never driven on before, which takes DATT to a level for drivers who do not want to run the same old courses in Sweden. DATT First Encounter R1 The first competition for DATT series consists of 2 classes. DATT NavX Pro Champion, and DATT Slick50 Rookie Champion, the names say which class is which one. Rookie get to only drive max 80km/h and do not run Twin Drift.

There are lots of Swedish drivers, but DATT commits to bring in foreign drivers and there are a lot of participants from Denmark. The run: Rookie - Qualify - Top 8Top 4 - Final, all rounds are singles run. Pro: Qualify, Single run Top 16 - Top 8 - Top 4 Final, all in twin drift, each elimination has 2 rounds.
Johan Skogsby lent his S13 with Rb26 to Andreas Nykvist, and here with a battle with Alexander Kvist on top 8

Erlandsson had to modify his cage to the survey would be approved Driversinformation on saturday with a Danish translator; so even they could understand what is being said on Swedish
Just as well they did not go for Alexander Holmqvist whose S13 disallowed to compete with, it was missing two mounts to the cage
