In 2008, the company modernized the iron foundry and installed the new mixer TA20VS. Made by the Ashland Company, the new mixer allows the changeover to the HTS (no-bake) casting process. This process results in a much cleaner casting surface and helps to eliminate blowholes and other defects. In 2012, the capability to create permanent mold iron casting up to 220 kg was added. Casting accuracy is much higher than traditional methods. All parts are 3D modeled in SolidWorks and further analyzed using LVMFlow software to simulate the thermal and hydrodynamic process that occur during casting. FOUNDRY PRODUCTION Equipment: Cupola furnace with capacity of 10 t/hour - 2 pcs. refractory lining: acid; purpose: cast-iron production; heat size at the continuous operation up to 70 t per shift. Induction furnaces: IST -0,5 – 1 pcs., ITP-0,5/1 – 2 pcs. purpose: Cast-iron production; refractory lining: basic, acid, rammed crucible; Up to 500kg by liquid weight; When dual heat process is used, capacity rises to 1000kg of liquid steel.

SLAG LADLES The slag ladle is designed to hold molten slag discharged from furnaces, steelmaking, and ferroalloy units. The ladles are made to hold slag at temperatures up to 1600 °C and with a max density of 3,7 t/m3. On the upper part of the ladle, there are four castings designed to attach to the ring gear on the ladle slag car. Martin ladles have four more castings that allow for transport with a lifting beam and circular stiffening hoop. The four lower castings are T-shaped gauges designed to lock the ladle into the ring support in order to prevent the ladle from falling during slag car movement.

FURNACE COOLING PLATES Furnace cooling plates are designed to protect the furnace mantle from the impact of high temperatures and preserve the efficient brickwork profile. They can increase the life of the furnace by 8 to 10 years. The cooling plates have a capacity ranging from 1033 to 5400 m3. The design of the plates allows for pressurization of the furnace mantle. The cooling plates operate by evaporation, water cooling, and mixed cooling. A unique feature of the plates is the four cooling pipes each have a separate water supply. That way, if one of the pipes fails, the plate remains operational. Nodular iron is used for the cooling plate. The carbon content is reduced in the casted pipes to create a seamless product, increasing longevity and giving the material optimal plasticity. The cooling plates can be designed and fabricated according to a customer’s specific needs.

BLAST-FURNACE EQUIPMENT FURNACE CHARGING GEAR (CUP-AND-CONE) The cup and cone distribute materials evenly around the throat of the furnace and seal in gases at the furnace mouth. The cup and cone feature carbide and chrome welding to provide increased wear resistance on the contact belts. Precision designed geometry and machining ensure a tight gas seal. To prevent any warping in the dimensions, the cup and cone are put through a special heat treating process. Advantages: geometrical dimensions stability.
