Culinary Italy from Sorrento to Rome DAY 5 Capri: The island of Capri is an area of breathtaking beauty with olive trees, grapevines and flowers providing a Mediterranean charm. Today’s excursion begins with a short drive to the harbor in Sorrento to board the hydrofoil. Traverse the pristine water, in various shades of blue and emerald green, as you approach the picturesque island. You’ll have time to explore Capri, and travel via mini-van to Anacapri, the highest town on the island. Wander through the town and absorb the local atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Sample some local favorites during the included gelato-making demonstration and taste some of the unique flavors. Then quench your curiosity about another speciality, Limoncello, with a tasting of this regional favorite. Meal: B
DAY 6 Amalfi Coast: Discover Amalfi’s stunning coastline with miles of hairpin turns offering spectacular vistas. See rocks plunging vertically into the sea; charming fishing villages with quaint harbors; houses nestled high in the rocky cliffs - all contrasting dramatically with the beautiful, twinkling, blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea far below. Upon arrival in Amalfi, enjoy free time for lunch on your own, and to walk through the town, seeing its greatest attraction, the Duomo which dominates the central piazza. After experiencing Italy’s “coast with the most”, continue on to a local village where you’re in for a tasty treat as you ‘get your hands dirty’ while preparing dough during a pastry-

DAY 7 Paestum: Today’s adventure explores another of Italy’s most famous archaeological sites: the Greek Temple of Paestum, an ancient Greek colony, serenely situated and surrounded by fields and wildflowers. The entire site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and among the best preserved monuments of Magna Graecia, the Greek colony that once covered much of southern Italy. In addition to its cultural heritage, the area is also famous as a producer of Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese. A stop is made at a local venue where you see how the cheese is made and sample the final product. Meal: B DAY 8 Agropoli: Depart for the historic city of Agropoli, one of the most vibrant cities along the Cilento coast. After a bit of leisure time to stroll through the cobblestoned lanes, your culinary adventure begins. Attend an entertaining cooking class where your instructor teaches you how to prepare delicious Italian cuisine during this hands-on experience. At the end of the class, lunch consists of the spectacular dish you just created. Buon appetito! To top off the experience, your next visit is to a vineyard for a wine tasting event. DAY 9 Cilento area: Cultural immersion into local flavor continues with a visit to an olive mill. Walk amongst the peaceful grounds where the olive trees grow as a local expert explains the process of how the fruit is transformed into pure liquid gold. Campania region and travel to Rome. Along the way, stop at a local farm for an included lunch of typical regional fare.

DAY 11 Rome: The historic monuments you’ve heard and read about come to life on your guided tour of the Eternal City. From Palatine Hill, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, see the Roman Forum 130 feet below, and the Circus Maximus. Visit the Coliseum, one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering, and imagine what it was like in its heyday when gladiators fought to the death. As you walk through the Roman Forum, you will be strolling amongst historic ruins of political buildings, shrines, temples and monuments, some dating back to the first kings of Rome. After a morning of historic discovery, enjoy an afternoon and evening at leisure. Meal: B DAY 12 Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel: This
morning, enjoy a guided visit to the spiritual center of the Roman Catholic Church and the smallest independent state in the world: Vatican City. During the guided visit of the Vatican Museums you’ll walk through halls containing some of the most priceless art treasure in the world. The

highlight of the visit may be the Sistine Chapel which houses the single most impressive work of art by Michelangelo. Amazing Thailand Perched atop a forested mountain with sweeping views of the city below, this most sacred of Chiang Mai’s temples houses a wealth of Buddha images, murals and art. On your return to the city, visit two important temples. Wat Chedi Luang, “The temple of the Great Stupa” is located in the ancient walled part of the city. Continue on foot to Wat Phan Tao, an ancient temple known for its exquisite Lanna-style ordination hall (Wihan). Entirely made of teakwood, it is one of the few remaining all wooden structures of its sort in Chiang Mai. A stop is made at the city’s biggest market, Talat Warorot, before arriving at the hotel for a bit of relaxation before tonight’s special event. Look down from its mile-wide rim into a gigantic boiling cauldron of steaming geysers. DAY 6 Jungle Crocodile Safari: Relax on a boat trip
along the Tarcoles River located near Carara National Rain Forest Park. This adventure combines nature with the breathtaking experience of viewing American crocodiles at near proximities. Home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild, some of these ‘local residents’ are up to 15-feet long! As your boat ride takes you inside the mangrove canals and along the Tarcoles River, you also have the opportunity to spot many different species of birds, including the rare scarlet macaw, amongst the lush foliage. DAY 7 Manuel Antonio National Park: Today’s included
tour visits nearby Manuel Antonio National Park, the smallest of the parks in Costa Rica but one of the most popular. There is a magic to this park that is hard to explain. Perhaps it’s the park’s forest, mangroves, lagoons and beach vegetation that supports 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds (with migrants bringing the bird species to some 270) that make it so amazing. Among the inhabitants that can be easily seen are sloths, iguanas, agoutis, armadillos, raccoons, coatimundis and the adorable squirrel monkey. We return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure before we say goodbye at our farewell dinner. Meals: B, D

DAY 2 Panama Canal Cruise: Today may well be a
highlight of your trip! Depart for the Gamboa area and embark a ship to begin the partial transit of the Panama Canal, narrated by a local expert. Cruise through the Gaillard Cut, cross under the Centennial Bridge and transit the Pedro Miguel Locks. Enjoy lunch onboard while experiencing the operation of the lock as you descend 30 feet in one step and reach Miraflores Lake. Enter the Miraflores Locks in the Pacific Ocean where you are lowered 60 feet in a two-step process. you through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Iguazú National Park, home of over 275 waterfalls, including the world-famous Iguazú Falls. Blessed by the forces of nature, the Argentine, Brazilian and Paraguayan border share these spectacular falls. Where the Iguazú River meets the subtropical forest, you’ll find the most impressive waterfall, Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). Walking along the catwalks, it’s an all-sensory experience as you feel the mist, hear the roar of the falls and admire the contrasts between the green forest, blue sky and foamy white water. National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. An exciting game viewing drive takes place this afternoon. Herds of elephants scratch the dry bed of the Tarangire River searching for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope, such as the stately Fringe-eared oryx and peculiar Long-necked gerenuk, are regularly observed. DAY 11 Tarangire National Park to Amboseli National Park: Enjoy an early morning breakfast before departing
via the Namanga border to Amboseli National Park where you check in to the lodge and enjoy lunch. coach for the Mount of Beatitudes, the church with the octagonal dome where Jesus blessed his disciples some 2,000 years ago and gave his Sermon on the Mount. Enjoy a visit to Tabgha, where Jesus fed the 5,000 with two fish and five loaves of bread. Visit the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter (Mensa Christi) and Capernaum where the ruins of the village are explored. Continue to the beautiful Banias Falls and ascend the Golan Heights to visit Nimrod Fortress and the Mt. Bental overlook. Meals: B, D
DAY 5 Sea of Galilee and Nazareth: Experience a sailing across the Sea of Galilee and visit the Ancient Boat Museum. DAY 9 Treasures of Jordan: After breakfast, travel by
coach to Jordan, crossing at the King Hussein Bridge. The life enriching experience in Jordan begins with a visit to the Dead Sea – the lowest point on the face of the Earth, at 1,368 feet below sea level. You’ll have time to experience the ‘healing waters’ of this remarkable ‘natural health spa’ and enjoy an included lunch. After lunch, continue to Madaba to view the 6th-century mosaic map on the floor in St. George’s Church. The day ends with a visit to Mt. Nebo, a holy site from where Moses was said to have seen the forbidden ‘Promised Land’. Enjoy beautiful views of the Holy Land from your vantage point at 2,330 ft. above sea level. DAY 10 Petra: This morning, depart by motorcoach for Petra, the ‘Rose Red’ city. Upon arrival, your life enriching experience begins. Your guide leads you on a walk through the Siq – a narrow gorge carved by the forces of water erosion, complete with fossils embedded in the rock. As you exit the Siq, the awe-inspiring view of the Treasury awaits. It is impossible to describe the feeling of standing at the foot of this amazing archeological masterpiece, whose carvings have survived for centuries. Continue exploring the site as you see the Monastery, the Silk Tomb and the Roman Colonnade and Amphitheater which could seat 7,000 people. The sheer size of the monuments throughout the site is breathtaking! After this incredible day, return to the hotel in Amman for dinner and overnight. Meals: B, L, D
DAY 11 Amman: On a morning tour of this capital city, discover fascinating contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. See the Citadel, the Roman Theater and a view of the residential areas. In Jerash, walk among the ruins of the former walled Roman

settlement – said to be the best preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy. Hadrian’s Arch, a monument from the 2nd century, greets you as you pass through it on the way to the site. Once inside, marvel at the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis, see the Forum surrounded by 160 columns, visit the Hippodrome and stroll along the Cardo – a colonnaded street running the length of the city. All of this was buried after an earthquake devastated the area in 749 A.D., and was only discovered 200 years ago! This evening, join your Tour Manager and fellow travelers for a farewell dinner. driver/guide and travel through the desert landscapes towards Kata Tjuta, a group of large, ancient rock formations. These 36 sandstone domes are a sacred site for men in the Anangu Aboriginal culture and believed to be about 500 million years old. Revel in the early morning serenity and absorb the views from the best vantage point while watching the desert come alive as the sun rises and colors change on Kata Tjuta. Walk between these rock formations into Walpa Gorge as your driver/guide explains the significance of this sacred ceremonial site.
After another incredible experience in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. As darkness falls and Uluru is thrown into silhouette, another adventure awaits as you attend dinner at the ‘Field of Light’ event – an exhibition by artist Bruce Munro where 50,000 spindles of light illuminate Uluru in shades of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white.

Health and Walking on Tour Some sites visited have limited motorcoach access and may involve considerable walking, stairs or inclines. Travelers should be in reasonably good health. Some programs include destinations in higher elevations that may have varying effects on individual travelers. Tour Managers and Coach Drivers cannot lift or assist travelers into transportation vehicles. Mayflower Cruises & Tours requires that persons requiring assistance be accompanied by a companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the assistance. Revision Fees A fee of $25 per person per transaction will be charged for any changes, revisions or alterations made to your reservation after confirmation. Luggage Handling The tour cost includes porterage for one average size suitcase. A charge of $5.00 per hotel will be collected by the Tour Manager for each additional piece of luggage that you bring. Travel Documents Your travel documents will be in your possession approximately 14 days prior to departure. Documents include tour itinerary, departure and arrival information and times, hotel information, clothing suggestions, baggage tags, plus any helpful hints. Passport & Visas Each U.S. citizen must have a valid passport. Expiration date of passport should be at least six months after the return date of the tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send instructions for visa applications if a visa is required for your tour. Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited. Visa fees and cost of obtaining a visa are not included in the tour price and is the responsibility of the traveler.

Medical Requirements Many countries have immunization requirements. Some countries require foreign visitors to have valid medical insurance on entry. Requirements vary by country and can change. Specific instructions will be sent to you at 90 days prior to departure if your tour requires these conditions. Mayflower Cruises & Tours cannot be liable for delay or denial of entry due to missing documents.
Tour Price Includes All motorcoach transportation noted in the tour itinerary, round trip airport transfers on the tour departure and return dates (only) if air is purchased through Mayflower, services of the Tour Manager and driver, lodging, sightseeing, taxes, admissions, gratuities for waiters at included meals, as well as Mayflower Money. Included meals are clearly noted in the touring description. Air transportation is available upon request, at additional cost for all tours.
Itinerary Changes There may be times when we may have to alter the scheduled itinerary, cruise vessels, hotels, shore excursions etc. due to weather conditions or conditions on the river in regards to water levels, locks, or other delays. Any changes in the itinerary due to these conditions will not result in eligibility for a refund. All itineraries are subject to change without prior notice and may need to be altered due to water level and other weather conditions.
What is Not Included on the Tour The land price of your tour does not include airfare to the tour departure point; any inter or intra-country air; airline luggage charges; items of a personal nature; meals not included on the itinerary; sightseeing attractions listed as “optional excursions” and gratuities to the full time Tour Manager, motorcoach driver, all airport skycaps, van or limo drivers, local guides. Transfers between airport and hotel are not included unless you purchase air from Mayflower and travel on tour dates. Baggage fees assessed by the airlines are not included in the air price if you purchased air from Mayflower Cruises & Tours.
